Please be careful with authors
Hi, re your recent edits. In several of them you have added an |author=
parameter to an existing ref which is either badly formatted or just plain wrong. Examples:
- [1]
|author=The Jakarta Post | Business | Sat, May 28 2011, 11:27 PM
- this should be|newspaper=The Jakarta Post
|date=May 28, 2011
- [2]
|author=Meld je nu aan om een reactie te posten.
- no idea what that means, but it certainly isn't an author - [3]
|author=Posted 1st March 2011 | 24 Comments
- this should be|date=1 March 2011
- [4]
|author=The General OfficesAboutTimelineAbout
- doesn't look like an author, unless "The General Offices" is a staff author, in which case "AboutTimelineAbout" is superfluous - [5]
|author=Jun 1st Tue
- another date, but even if this were placed correctly into|date=
, it's meaningless without the year
Several of these seem to be using the pipe character within the data. This won't work as intended, because the pipe separates one parameter from the next; so |author=The Jakarta Post | Business | Sat, May 28 2011, 11:27 PM
is interpreted as |author=The Jakarta Post
plus two more parameters, which are unrecognised by {{cite web}}
.
I thank you for your attention. --Redrose64 (talk) 11:05, 22 January 2013 (UTC)
- Hi Redrose64, I guess the bot creates the problem, there is little I can do about this, maybe you know where to with your remarks? Lotje (talk) 11:09, 22 January 2013 (UTC)

- Good idea. Lotje (talk) 12:47, 22 January 2013 (UTC)
- FYI, per User talk:Dispenser/Reflinks#Youtube bug, "Meld je aan of registreer je om een reactie te plaatsen" is the Dutch localised YouTube version of "Sign in or register to post a comment". I don't see any articles with either of these phrases at the moment. GoingBatty (talk) 04:51, 23 January 2013 (UTC)
- No? What about this? --Redrose64 (talk) 13:57, 23 January 2013 (UTC)
- Fixed it, actually one I had overseen. Thnks. BTW, intersting username+1 you picked.Lotje (talk) 15:14, 23 January 2013 (UTC)
- I wasn't aware of that film; but it was released five months after I registered with Wikipedia. --Redrose64 (talk) 16:01, 23 January 2013 (UTC)
- Hi RedRose64! My mistake was looking for "Meld je aan of registreer je om een reactie te plaatsen", not "Meld je nu aan om een reactie te posten". Maybe the Dutch YouTube changed their message? I found 20+ instances of "Meld je nu ann..." and am removing them now. Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 02:57, 24 January 2013 (UTC)
