Infobox Gridiron football person header
editGood day! I am opposed to the idea of putting the jersey number and position in the header of the infobox. I believe it should be reserved for the name of the person only. Wikipedia:Manual of Style (infoboxes) also hints at this in the "Design and usage" section. Do you object strongly to me moving those parameters back to within the box itself? height and weight
editI moved height and weight to career info since it is only of interest in the playing career of the individual. In this template, which is used for players, coaches, and admins, as well as former players, it is best, I think, that the height and weight be mentioned only with the career parameters; any other reference may be a WP:BLP contravention. In fact, I considered a more drastic make-over to put it within the Years as a player section but discarded that idea as a too major change requiring a more complete over-haul. DoubleBlue (Talk) 00:50, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
Oh and why remove the records, awards and whatnot from copy-paste documentation? DoubleBlue (Talk) 00:54, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
the {{career_highlights}} parameter is replacing the other highlights parameters. Although it's still being used, but it shouldn't be. So it many articles that uses that should be removed. --Louis Alberto Guel 00:58, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
- Hmm. Why? Those parameters do fall under the Career highlight and awards heading already and seem to be a handy way to organise them. What's wrong with the way it's done at Pinball Clemons? I've used career_highlights in the past to include other highlights that don't fit into those parameters. DoubleBlue (Talk) 01:14, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

Player dab moves
editHi. Could you please explain why you moved George White (football player) to George White (Canadian football) and Doug Brown (football player) to Doug Brown (gridiron football). According to WP:D, the disambiguator should be as simple as possible and need not be specific unless there is need for further disambiguation. In these cases, I don't see any other football player to require further disambiguation and (football player) would be best. DoubleBlue (Talk) 16:24, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
- To other wikipedians "football" to them means "soccer". --Louis Alberto Guel 17:51, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
- Firstly, so what? It's not necessary to be more specific about what code of football unless there are more than one football player with same name. Secondly, the standard dab for soccer players is (footballer). DoubleBlue (Talk) 00:17, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
Well "player" shouldn't be included in the dab either unless another figure like coach is there, which that just leaves (football), and I'm pretty sure that incorrect for dab. Because of that, I have to move those pages. --Louis Alberto Guel 11:19, 12 July 2008 (UTC)
- Explain please. You say (football) is insufficient so you have to add something. Why not "player"? DoubleBlue (Talk) 17:44, 12 July 2008 (UTC)
You don't add "player" unless another football figure like coach or owner exist. I'm pretty sure you're not just to put simply (football) anyways. American, Canadian, Arena, or gridiron will work though. louis 21:26, 12 July 2008 (UTC)
- You're not making a lot of sense. You say don't add player unless you need to differentiate from a coach or the like but you maintain that you do need to differentiate from different codes of football. DoubleBlue (Talk) 22:09, 12 July 2008 (UTC)
All I can say is make a discussion about this in football related projects. louis 12:31, 13 July 2008 (UTC)
- You are the one who is making changes from the status quo. DoubleBlue (Talk) 15:32, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
what status quo? louis 14:18, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
- The way they were. DoubleBlue (Talk) 04:30, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
Would you please stop moving articles to change perfectly good dabs. (football player) is perfectly correct and accurate. DoubleBlue (Talk) 04:30, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

I think that the "American football" qualifier is technically correct but misleading - this is a Canadian born and raised, career CFL player, and in Canada we never call it 'American football'. Typically, when people see that, they will assume it is a US player of NFL football. Could it be changed to Bill Stevenson (CFL) or Bill Stevenson (Canadian football) or something? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.116.59.222 (talk) 01:35, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
