...to my Reference Desk (Humanities) query regarding Czech currency during WWII. My material is ghetto currency of the Theresienstadt (Terezin) ghetto, but I have yet to see the actual artifacts. It makes perfect sense that the German-language term krone (crown) would have been used rather than the Czech koruna, consistent with Nazi German administrative policies throughout the occupied lands. Glad you found what you needed. Motherless Brooklyn was at the top of my list of favorite literature of the twentieth century for a while and I'm always glad to have the chance to recommend it. I was going to reply on your talk page but the box stopped me - thanks for clarifying that because it has always confused me. Is that the accepted wiki etiquette?
