Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. We as a community are glad to have you and thank you for creating a user account! Here are a few good links for newcomers:

Yes some of the links appear a bit boring at first, but they are VERY helpful if you ever take the time to read them.

Remember to place any articles you create into a category so we don't get orphans.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, please be sure to sign your name on Talk and vote pages using four tildes (~~~~) to produce your name and the current date, or three tildes (~~~) for just your name. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome.

IP vandalism

edit

Thanks for your note, but it's standard procredure to place vandalism notices on IP talk pages to help admins identify long-term abuse sources. In some extreme cases, IPs like this are blocked and the school's administrators are contacted. The information on that talk page explains the procedures and ways a SUNY student can register to avoid such warnings. Jokestress 21:09, 1 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Freya

edit

If you can give out a source like Eddas or anything that state that "Freya is a goddess of sex", I'll say she is a sex goddess. They all state that "Freya is one of the foremost goddess, receiver of half the fallen". It is you people who read or *heard* about her so-called unrestrained sexuality and labeled her "sex goddess". If Freya is to be called "sex goddess", not "love and lust", then Venus and Aphrodite are the same. "Lust" is the way educated people put it.

Snorri's reliability? He thinks Odin and Freya are mere humans, isn't that enough? Freya Worshiper 09:55, 10 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'm sorry if I was unclear, I did not mean to say that the eddas stated Freyja as being a goddess of sex, I was attempting to make two seperate but related points. In general, the purpose of wikipedia is to provide information. When it comes to deities and similar figures, that information includes how they are popularly regarded, and also how they differ from the original sources; for example, the wikipedia article on St. Thomas has been edited to make a point of mentioning that the bible does actually not-- although it mentions his stated intention to do so --describe Thomas touching the wounds of Jesus, as is commonly imagined (and portrayed in the art used throughout the article). If a popular source is to be considered unreliable, this should be explained within the article, and backed up with citations. This is not to say that the article was otherwise up to the standards of the encyclopedia prior to your edits; very few articles are, and the process of creating through wikipedia is a constant one. Also, I should do not mean to imply that I myself label Freyja as anything as you have described, but my personal views on the nature of deities and their associations are not a topic for Wikipedia. Lucky number 49 15:59, 10 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
Maybe I'm saying this as a joke, but "My interests include gender and sexuality, animal rights, the martial arts, animation and comics, spirituality and religion, and many other topics." Freya Worshiper 12:32, 15 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
Yes? Did you have a point to make, or are you just quoting my user page?Lucky number 49 14:59, 15 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
Oh, you are lusty. Freya Worshiper 12:03, 18 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
I presume that you are referring to my interest in "sexuality," since that is the only remotely related term there; although I don't see how having that interest makes me "lusty", or what the particular relevance may be to our discussions. Lucky number 49 13:46, 18 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hey - no problem. In future, follow Revert, Block, Ignore - there's no need to respond to another user if they are insulting you - I saw the discussion above. Anyway, keep editing :). ck lostswordTC 14:29, 29 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. I only really started taking action once their insults became blatant, but at this point anything else they do is just another straw. Lucky number 49 14:32, 29 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
Hey. If this user is ANOTHER sock, they are then breaking the 'using socks to circumvent a block' section of the policy. If I see the evidence (although a cursory look through the contribs does indeed suggest that the new account is a sock) - ie. show me a couple of diffs - I will block for sockpuppetry (once again) :). Thanks for keeping an eye open ck lostswordTC 16:37, 1 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
Done and blocked - clearly the same again. Again, thanks for alerting. Have this :), and Keep a weather eye open! ck lostswordTC 17:28, 1 July 2007 (UTC)}}Reply

Re:Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy episodes

edit

Well when I tagged the episodes I tried at first to see if I could find something online that gave some production details, or critical reception, but didn't find anything that was really helpful (it was a cursory search though, so stuff could be out there). Stuff like that would help, especially if any episodes have won awards that could be cited. Also, do you know if they have DVDs out with commentaries? Commentaries do normally give a lot of information on episode production and are used frequently in Simpsons episode articles many of which are good articles. Ratings could also be used, but I know it's hard to find cable ratings especially for shows on Cartoon Network, but something might be found. Also if any of the episodes had any sort of critical commentary, like an article written about it in a paper or tv guide or something. The pilot episodes might have something like this especially, but it might be hard to find. Anyway this is also a heads up that I'm probably going to be looking through the other episodes later and they might be tagged, but as of now it would still be two weeks before any sort of review takes place on any of them, so there is some time to find stuff. Good luck. Phydend 20:05, 2 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Revert

edit

Thanks for the revert. Personally, though, I like to preserve the stuff on my talk page unless it's just clear-cut vandalism just so I can refer back, so I've reverted your revert. Thank you, though. — Rebelguys2 talk 22:27, 26 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

On Perfect

edit

I saw the vast majority of the series, and that one episode seemed to have the greatest diversity of animation styles of any episode I had seen prior. However, I just changed the "known" to "significant", if that changes matters. --Toussaint 20:32, 27 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Nevermind, go ahead and delete the section for now. All that I have at the moment is an [ed2k://|file|Courage.the.Cowardly.Dog.-.S04E13B.-.Perfect.avi|91662406|0A32162BF426EB16FD813356FFA9BC4C|/ ED2K link] to prove anything. I should probably write something up later with screenshots of the various scenes, if that's OK. --Toussaint 06:42, 28 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

other IP vandalism

edit

You left Template:uw-vandalism4im on the talk page of 76.118.23.30. This IP address has made further vandalism to an article with the addition of this (an edit which has already been previously removed in the past day, [1]) to the Cranes in TUGS article. I think this address should be blocked, is there anything you can do about it? --SteelersFan UK06 16:40, 27 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Continued vandalism by 24.176.13.139

edit

Thank you for your message on my talk page [2]. I would be disinclined to re-block 24.176.13.139 (talk · contribs) due to the fact that since my previous block expired on January 13th, this IP has received zero warnings, let alone the required sequence of properly escalated warnings. Also please note that as per Wikipedia's official blocking policy, "blocks are used to prevent damage or disruption to Wikipedia, not to punish users." Considering this IP did not vandalize another article until six days after their six hour block expired, I would say that this short block was quite successful. I should also note that applying long blocks to DHCP addresses such as this are an exercise in futility as changing IP addresses is as simple as clicking "release IP" and then "renew IP lease." --Kralizec!
