Lumetrics
We do not delete articles because they have a promotional link. And in any case I do not consider the link in the Interferometry article promotional. 'DGG (at NYPL)' (talk) 19:11, 28 October 2013 (UTC)
Ok I wasn't sure, but thanks for clarifying. Tell me, is there a way to get that particular link taken out? Citation #86 links directly to their sales website- what is the best way to address that? Thanks. Lumetrics (talk) 19:18, 28 October 2013 (UTC)KHD at Lumetrics
- this is not a link, but a references, and a reference can go to a commercial site if it is the best location to support the material. the way to deal with this is to find a better reference, and, if you have a conflict of interest, suggest it on the article talk page. Btw, the article on the firm was considerably promotional, so I edited it. I thanks you for calling my attention to it. If you still think it unsuitable, the procedure for challenging it is to use WP:AFD.
- I'll take a look at reference #86 tonight. Stigmatella aurantiaca (talk) 21:08, 28 October 2013 (UTC)
User name
editI notice that your user name is that of an optics company, and that you seem to have interest in the subject. Only individuals can edit Wikipedia. If you intend to edit further and do have a connection with Lumetrics, you need to choose an individual user name. If you are going to edit topics on behalf of the company, or topics related to he work of the company, you must declare your conflict of interest on your user talk page. And if you are going to try to write a WP page about the company, you should do it via WP:AFC.
But if you do indeed have no connection with the company, it might be well to say that here to avoid questions.
I call you attention to our rules about WP:Conflict of Interest 'DGG (at NYPL)' (talk) 20:18, 28 October 2013 (UTC)
Thank you for letting me know. I do work for that company, so I will make a separate username and declare my affiliation with them on my talk page.
