GA R Marquette Building
editThanks for taking a look at the GAR. I like the {{Chicago}} tag that you add to a lot of articles. I think the general protocol is that most templates should be added to articles that are actually linked in the template. This template has been used quite liberally with respect to this standard. I think the banner is good in its current form because each of the linked words should probably have its own template. As we get the project organized better this will be more easily done.
Once we get the assessment department up and running I think CBOTB will grade out at an A class article which means that GAs should not have to match it to retain their ratings. I have no clue were to research for additional breadth. I believe the article actually meets the standards of WP:WIAGA. I would love for it to be broader, however. I would appreciate any assistance you might lend in this regard. I am not a landmark specialist although I find they are underrepresented on WP and thus provide a decent researcher with opportunity to make a contribution to WP. I just happened to have the inside scoop late last year that the next Argo Tea location would be at the Marquette Building (Chicago) and noticed it had no article. I don't know enough about the Chicago School of Architecture or architecture in general to say much more than I have said about why it is a NHRP building. I would appreciate any assistance that you can lend to improving the article. TonyTheTiger (talk/cont/bio) 16:47, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
Tagging
editI had a bot tag most of the the categories at Wikipedia:WikiProject Chicago/Categories. There is probably a problem on which railroads to tag by bot. Any advice? TonyTheTiger (talk/cont/bio) 18:59, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
- The problem is that I mostly worked from all subcategories of Category:Chicago, Illinois. If you know of relevant categories not included, we should get them properly parented so that they appear as a subcat of our main category. Add them to the page and I will look at them to see how to parent them properly. Currently, note that neither Category:Chicago metropolitan area nor Category:Cook County, Illinois and their subcats are included in the bot run. What do you think? We can always add their cats later I guess. TonyTheTiger (talk/cont/bio) 19:27, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
- My apologies. The bot is only through about half the categories I have requested so far from what I can tell. I think the categories you mention are on the list. TonyTheTiger (talk/cont/bio) 21:26, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

Tagging
editThanks for your thoughts. This is the only article out of about 7000 tagged so far that has put up a fight. Let me know what you think of my response to her. Also, in preparation for next week's WP:CHICOTW I posted a page that may eventually become an official policy page for WP:WPChi on stubbing. Feedback or editorial assistance are welcome. Review request
editHey there. This request isn't really NRHP or Illinois related but my contributions in those areas have been limited of late as I have worked on Space Interferometry Mission (current GA nominee) and Rock Springs Massacre (passed GA in mid-April).
Since Rock Springs Massacre reached GA status I have undertaken a significant expansion/overhaul/source verification mission which has resulted in a new version of the article. Soon, I hope to take it to Featured Article candidates. What it needs now is some outside input and copy editing. Anything you can offer in the area would be helpful. You may want to start by taking a look at the talk page, I have been updating my progress on the article there regularly. If you could just add your own section on the talk page, like a peer review, I just ignored that process because it has been pretty stale of late. This, is all, of course, dependent on your willingness and availability. Anything you could do would be helpful, thanks ahead of time for your help. IvoShandor 08:25, 3 May 2007 (UTC)

editHi ChicagoPimp, thanks for your help editing the 1013 Project articles. My students are learning a lot from their interaction with Wikipedians. They're starting to get the hang of this, and they seem to be enjoying themselves. "Final" revisions on their articles are due next Thursday, so please help look out for them over the next week. 1013-josh 07:25, 4 May 2007 (UTC)

Chicago Landmark Stubification
editFour weeks ago, you contributed to the WP:CHICOTW when Chicago Landmark was the article. This week, we are attempting to stubify the numerous redlinks with a goal of getting over half the redlinks stubified (we began with about 25%). This will improve our chance of getting it approved as a featured list candidate. When reviewing this weeks contributing editors your name was absent. You may want to choose a redlink or two from Chicago Landmark and create a stub before this week's project ends so that you can be a part of our drive for featured list status. editI see you have been quite active at WP:GA/R. I concur with your delist vote on Super Chief, but disagree with Hillary Clinton. It is one man one vote so you are entitled to your opinion. However, we miss you at WP:CHICOTW this week. TonyTheTiger (talk/cont/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 17:46, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
Top Importance
editI am sorry to hear you are not interested in stubification. Your hard work is missed. If nothing else, stubification efforts give you a chance to have created some interesting articles.
now that the project has >8000 articles, do you have any thoughts regarding other articles that might merit top importance? i have been giving thought to topics of high notability but often paired with low recognition, several of which i consider "foundational" knowledge about chicago that i have mentioned previously. for example, (1) daniel burnham may merit top importance because of widespread influence in planning, architecture, and politics. (2) great chicago fire because of influence in architecture and street planning. (3) chicago river because of influence in landscape, economy, neighborhoods, etc. ChicagoPimp 20:03, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
I have been thinking about this. We are near the end of the bot tagging. In fact, User:Speciate and I have been discussing it.
The current list of candidates for top includes the following Northwestern University, Chicago Loop, Chicago 'L', O'Hare, Soldier Field, Walter Payton, George Halas, Al Capone, Sears, Harold Washington, Grant Park (Chicago), Magnificent Mile, Museum Campus, George Pullman, Dick Butkis, United Airlines, McDonalds, Playboy, Red Grange, Chicago Tribune, Cyrus McCormick, Frank Lloyd Wright. I like Great Chicago Fire. I have to think about Daniel Burnham's work and influence outside of Chicago. One thing I have realized is that people Chicagoan's think are important to them are not as important to others. Ernie Banks is not on ESPN Sports Century, but we think of him as Mr. Cub. I think any athlete must be on this list to be considered because of our definition. I think the number of top articles will be governed by the following rule going forward. The greater of [lesser of (40,0.20% of all articles),.0.10% of all articles]. Essentially, this gives us .20% of all articles until we get to 40 top importance at 20,000 articles. Then, we have to make good tough decisions until we get over (40,000 articles). This will account for us becoming familiar with our own articles and then give us room for growth after we get a lot more. I still have to do a lot of research on Chicago companies. Which of these candidates to you think is most important based on Wikipedia:WikiProject Chicago/Priority Scale? Are you against any current tops?
- I am looking for some feedback here Wikipedia:WikiProject_Chicago/Assessment#Current_Top_Priority_Candidates. TonyTheTiger (talk/cont/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 20:47, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
- I looked more closely at Burnham and added him to the page above. TonyTheTiger (talk/cont/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 01:19, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
I am writing you because you either (1) edited Chicago Landmark 5 weeks ago when it was the WP:CHICOTW (2) edited it or created a stub last week when we had the stubification drive for it or (3) you nominated an article to be the CHICOTW in the last few days.
I have finally had a chance to take a tally on last week’s stubification effort. Based on my manual count we now have 109 bluelinks on a total of 241 landmarks. Preliminary indications were that for our article to be successful at WP:FLC we would need to eventually rename it (something like List of Chicago Landmarks) and get the majority of the landmarks linked. Based on my cursory count we need to write 12 more articles to get to a majority. It would be great if you might be able to assist by creating a couple stubs to assist in this effort. Here are some of the stubs that were created during last week’s efforts: Black Metropolis-Bronzeville District, Historic Michigan Boulevard District, Arthur H. Compton House & One North LaSalle. Among the articles still redlinked are 2 buildings on this week’s CHICOTW, Magnificent Mile (Perkins, Fellows & Hamilton Office and Studio, Woman's Athletic Club). Recall that each redlink on Chicago Landmark has a footnote to a reference that gives you enough info to create a stub. If you create a new stub please add it to Wikipedia:WikiProject_Chicago#Newly_Created_Chicago_Related_Pages so that we can keep track of the progress. Hey, I noticed you are a frequent contributor to WP:GA/R. There are a few discussion threads that are floundering and need additional comments from other editors. I would like to act on these soon, as they have been up for discussion for several weeks, but so few people have commented that I can't even archive as "no consensus" since we have a near null-set of comments. If you have the time, could you take a peek at the following articles and make any comments at WP:GA/R as you see fit? The articles needing additional comment are: Jeremy Clarkson, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Anaximander, and Syncaris pacifica. Thanks in advance for your help with this! --Jayron32|talk|contribs 18:30, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

RfC on your username
editIn lieu of outright blocking, I've moved the discussion about your username from WP:UFA to Wikipedia:Requests_for_comment/User_names#ChicagoPimp. In the event that the community discussion comes to a consensus that your username is inappropriate, you may be forced to change it.--Chaser - T 17:30, 11 June 2007 (UTC)
- Also note that you can nip this whole situation in the bud by simply agreeing to change the username to something inoccuous. Cheers!--Chaser - T 17:37, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

Username
editSir, you have no doubt noticed that you are blocked. This is because your username is, debate notwithstanding, unacceptable. Additional meanings be damned, the primary meaning of the term "pimp" is still essentially synonymous with being a slaveholder. It is as unacceptable as "Grammar Nazi". WPChi falling on its face?
editI hope you have been following along at Wikipedia:Featured_list_candidates#List_of_Chicago_Landmarks. If you have, then you may have noticed that the only drawback that seems to have emerged is the number of redlinks in the list. If you check in at WP:WIAFL this should not be a surprise. There is nothing much else really to complain about, IMO. I have said from the initial CHICOTW nomination. Unfortunately, once we worked on the page we found preponderant redlinks. I have always known this would be a problem and asked for help creating stubs. You may recall I encouraged us to spend an [Wikipedia:WikiProject_Chicago/COTW/History/CLstubification entire extra week creating stubs]. This still fell short of getting the majority of articles linked. I continued to suggest that we attempt to create stubs. This whole effort six weeks ago seems to have brought down WP:CHICOTW. Since this attempt to get people to create redlinks for a budding WP:FL people have stopped participating in the CHICOTW. This week marks the fifth week in a row that there has been no significant editorial contribution during the CHICOTW. I would say I am afraid to lose CHIICOTW support by mentioning this, but since NO ONE has come by to help this week, it could not get any worse. If anyone cares about getting an FL at CHICOTW for our past efforts it might be a good idea to express such concern by creating 5 or so stubs from among the redlinks at List_of_Chicago_Landmarks. Since I have already created about 3 dozen I have mentioned on the discussion that I am standing pat with my contribution to this concern. However, if any of you cares, feel free to make some stubs. The 20 minute stub instructions are still available. If you create any such stubs list them at Wikipedia:WikiProject_Chicago#Newly_Created_Chicago_Related_Pages so that everyone can help you to clean it up. More help needed
editIf you have been following along at WP:FLC#List_of_Chicago_Landmarks you know we need help creating stubs for the List to make it a more useful list and help it achieve WP:FLC status. Since I reminded people of this 7 stubs have been created. We need about 40 more to be safe although we may have a successful candidacy with the article as it stands.
Some of you may also be following the success of WP:CHICOTW at Wikipedia:WikiProject Chicago/COTW/Good Articles. For the last 4 weeks no one has been very active. Thus, I am fearful that Historic Michigan Boulevard District, Harold Washington Cultural Center, Crown Fountain, & Art Institute of Chicago Building will all fail at WP:GAC when their turns come up. Also, Magnificent Mile did not experience the collaborative spirit. Our reputation as a successful collaboration is at stake. In addition to making stubs for the FLC we need your contribution to our collaborations. I am sorry to pull you away from whatever other wikipleasures you may be experiencing, but we need your help. I thank you for your good intentions. You seem to have missed a bit of the point of the stubification efforts. By following the instructions you will then be able to produce fairly high quality stubs in about 20 minutes per page. Look at the other newly created pages to get a feel for what everyone else is doing and you will see what I mean. Could you go back and take another 10 or 15 minutes with each of your pages to produce a quality stub? Following the instructions will help you in the future to create good stubs in addition to helping this effort. --TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 18:24, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

Commission on Chicago Landmarks
editI like the article. I think I would leave the things in the list article where it is. It is important for a Featured List to have a meaty introduction. We don't want to take the meat away. - P.S. Did you use the {{Infobox nrhp}} tool from the directions to create a cut and paste infobox? I think one article you had created had an infobox that either you or someone else added. I added infoboxes to 2 of your articles. --TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 05:24, 30 June 2007 (UTC)

CBOTB
editI guess the WP:FL work got me distracted. I have had some time to get back to the Wikipedia:Peer review/Chicago Board of Trade Building/archive1. We have to work on the lead. However, I do not understand the sculptures on the building that well are any of them cited here? --TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 00:21, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for the flag. Like I have said the next biggie for the project is getting CBOTB to FA if possible. I'll try to focus my efforts on that and will be looking for your help. I am following the WP:PR, which has not gotten any action other than the automated review. However, that is helping me to improve the article.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 17:52, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
- I think we just need to beef up the WP:LEAD. I will try to get this done, but could use some help. After the lead is beefed up I will nominate it for WP:FAC.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 19:14, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
- I hope you are follow along at Wikipedia:WikiProject Chicago/Discussions
- In response to a WP:FAC request, I beefed up all the citations except the last one coming from this edit. Do you know how to find it now?--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 17:35, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
- I am sorry to be so pesky, but where are you at man. I could use some help here. I especially need you to clarify the aforementioned link.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 20:43, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
- If you don't have a citation for this edit we may have to remove it based on current discussions at WP:FAC.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 22:42, 29 July 2007 (UTC)
- I am going to comment it out and if you find a citation you can put it back in.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 22:43, 29 July 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for the Will Rogers citation. Right now our FAC may fail if we can't address the concerns of the strong opposition. Can you come up with anything?--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 22:10, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
- This one was quite a team effort. I thank you for your help (especially at the WP:CHICOTW stage). You may want to post this on your user page: --TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 22:16, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

The Psychic Paramount
edithey, thanks for the cleanup, this was one of the first articles I did, and didn't really have a good wiki-head on yet. Unfortunately, I haven't gone back to most of the articles I did at the beginning, so haven't fixed a lot of the stuff that could use fixing. Thanks for catching it! editWhat's your rationale for removing the DJ list from the KMNR Wiki?
Montgomery Ward & Co. Catalog House
editI merged your text into Montgomery Ward & Co. Catalog House, which was created in May.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 00:50, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
You were so charitable, putting a fact tag on the notion that Piniella is going to be a catalyst to the World Series. Every managerial hire for every team comes with that hope. Where the Cubs are concerned, they said it about Frankie Frisch and Bob Scheffing in the 1950s, about the College of Coaches (well, maybe not that); about Leo Durocher; about Jim Frey and Don Zimmer; about Don Baylor, Dusty Baker, et al. I just had to laugh, and removed that crystal-ball stuff. What's going to be the "catalyst" has little to do with a particular manager, an nothing to do with billygoats, or Steve Bartman, or any of that stuff; it's going to have to do with fielding the best team money can buy. They came close in 2003, but in reality they didn't quite have enough, and it cost them. d:( Baseball Bugs 02:08, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
- There's a place for "many believe", or whatever, when it's either verifiably true or is common knowledge, but too often it's used as a way for an editor to interject his own opinion (and I should know, since I've done it myself). Regarding Cubs managers, I'd like to quote you this comment, from a book called The World Series and Highlights of Baseball, by Lamont Buchanan, which goes through the 1950 season. At that point it was only 5 years since the Cubs' last Series appearance, but already the warning signs were there. You may have already seen this in the Chicago Cubs article, but it's worth repeating: "From the sublime to last place! Wrigley Field, the ivy of its walls still whispering of past greatness, watches its Cubs grow less ferocious in '47, '48, '49. New doctor of the cure is smiling Frank Frisch, veteran of previous baseball transfusions who thinks, 'It's nice to have the fans with you.' Chicago has a great baseball tradition. The fans remember glorious yesterdays as they wait for brighter tomorrows. And eventually their Cubs will bite again." We're still waiting for that "eventually". Baseball Bugs 03:16, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
- Oh, and thanks for the comment on the "self-sockpuppet" thing. I'd had sockpuppets on the brain recently, due to various problems with them. I probably came up with that at some point when I was a tad sleep-deprived. That's when some of my best inspirations have come. :) Baseball Bugs 03:19, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
- Another quotable quote, that you may have heard, comes from George Will, erudite writer and lifelong Cubs fan, who said about the Cubs, "Anybody can have a bad century." Baseball Bugs 03:22, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

Alamance Battleground
editThanks, for adding the NHRP info box to Town Creek Indian Mound. I just started another article, Alamance Battleground. I have searched to see if it is National Historic Landmark, Battleground, etc. with the reference you provided for Town Creek. I am not having success using it due to limited internet access at my current location (work). Could you check and see if it is a NHRP site? And add the info box if neeeded? Dincher 23:57, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for the information and the work on the article. It was one I had lost interest in while I was working on it. Thanks for improving it! Dincher 01:46, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

Beer category decision
editA discussion has been opened on changes that have been made to the existing Beer category system. The changes reverse the decision made by the Project in April 2006. The changes were based on agreement by only two people, and by a discussion that took place outside the Beer Project. There may be some merit in the changes, and to prevent future conflict it is important that there is some discussion of the matter. If you're interested, please see Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Beer#Brewery_cats. SilkTork *YES! 15:50, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

GA reassessment of Chicago Theatre
editI have conducted a reassessment of the above article as part of the GA Sweeps process. I have found a number concerns with the article which you can see at Talk:Chicago Theatre/GA1. You are being nominated as you have more than 7 non-minor edits to the article. I have placed the article on hold whilst these are fixed. Thanks. Jezhotwells (talk) 12:59, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
An exciting opportunity to get involved!
editAs a member of the Aviation WikiProject or one of its subprojects, you may be interested in testing your skills in the Aviation Contest! I created this contest, not to pit editor against editor, but to promote article improvement and project participation and camraderie. Hopefully you will agree with its usefulness. Sign up here, read up on the rules here, and discuss the contest here. The first round of the contest may not start until September 1st-unless a large number of editors signup and are ready to compete immediately! Since this contest is just beginning, please give feedback here, or let me know what you think on my talkpage. - Trevor MacInnis contribs 23:04, 22 August 2009 (UTC)

There hasn't been much activity at WikiProject Missouri or any of its child projects lately, and I saw your name on the list of active participants. If you are willing to jump in again, please consider helping to revive the project:
- Put {{WikiProject Missouri}} on the talk pages of articles involving Missouri. This helps to categorize articles
- Write, cleanup, or expand an article about Missouri
- Source a Biography of a living person living in, born in, or otherwise affiliated with Missouri
- Help spread the word about the project
- Update the project page or the portal
- Watchlist or check the project talk page for updates
- Join one of the child projects:
If you know anyone who might be interested in Missouri (its history, culture, sports, people, places, architecture, etc.), please pass this message along to them! If you are still interested in the project but aren't currently active, please add yourself to the list of inactive participants at the bottom of this list. Thanks!

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
