Analysis of your sources
editYou may be wondering why Draft:Benjamin Jordan keeps getting rejected. The reasons are described in Wikipedia:Golden rule. Let me go over those sources:
- https://www.flyozone.com/paragliders/team/benjamin-jordan - sales site with a profile and interview, which would be a primary source because the information comes from the subject; this isn't coverage of the subject.
- https://www.imdb.com/name/nm3299837/ - IMDB is user-generated content and cannot be cited as a source for anything about a living person. It can be included in "External links" section, but nothing more.
- https://skateslate.com/blog/2017/08/23/15th-annual-toronto-board-meeting-september-7-10th/ - trivial mention, not significant coverage of the person.
- https://skateslate.com/blog/2016/10/10/give-thanks-and-push-for-the-cure/ - trivial mention, not significant coverage.
- https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/4-skateboarders-raise-40k-for-breast-cancer-research-1.620887 - trivial mention.
- http://www.usairnet.com/paragliding-news/powered-paramotor-flies-across-canada/1001245/ - pretty good source, but provides more coverage about an event than about the person.
- https://www.nirvana.cz/lequipe-de-course-nirvana-nrt - this source provides very little coverage although it does establish notability (Guinness book of world records), and this fact should be stated and cited in the lead section. It would be better to cite the actual world record from Guinness though.
- https://mountainculturegroup.com/how-one-man-broke-a-world-record-paragliding-the-rockies/ - this is a primary source written by the subject. It can be cited but because it includes only claims by the subject about himself, it cannot be used to establish notability. Secondary sources are preferred, not primary sources.
- https://www.trailtimes.ca/entertainment/what-does-it-mean-to-be-a-man-west-kootenay-paraglider-ponders-gender-confidence-in-documentary/ - good source, good coverage. This is really the only decent source in the draft.
- https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6865622/ - IMDB cannot be cited.
- https://www.imdb.com/title/tt10278270/ - IMDB cannot be cited.
- https://vimff.org/film/strong-the-wind-blows/ - advertisement of a film, not about the article subject.
- https://vimff.org/the-endless-chain-online/ - advertisement of a film, not coverage of the subject.
You have one good source and one reasonable source, but they are buried in a pile of junk sources. I recommend you completely get rid of the trivial mentions and focus on writing an article around sources that provide actual coverage. ~Anachronist (talk) 15:17, 15 November 2020 (UTC)
Thank you very much for your detailed analysis of my draft article. I really appreciate your help and will work on obtaining more relevant references before re-submitting my work. LyndsayNicole (talk) 16:02, 15 November 2020 (UTC)
- you also asked me for further comment. Looking at the present article, I see no major press coverage: I think the two sources the above reviewer found acceptable or possibly acceptable are hobbyist or local sources, which usually are not counted as heavily for notability . In addition, WP being in the Guiness book of records has almost never been accepted here as evidence for notability. DGG ( talk ) 21:01, 15 November 2020 (UTC)
