AFL season article naming convention
As a participant of WikiProject AFL I thought you might be interested in this. I have started a vote to get a consensus on the naming convention for AFL season articles. You can participate in the discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject AFL#AFL season article naming convention. Cheers. Remy B 13:23, 16 April 2006 (UTC)
Old Skool Esperanzial note
Since this isn't the result of an AC meeting, I have decided to go Old Skool. This note is to remind you that the elections are taking place now and will end at 23:50 UTC on 2006-04-29. Please vote here. Thanks. --Celestianpower háblame 20:42, 23 April 2006 (UTC)
WikiProject NBL
Hey MDM/Archive 2
I am wondering if you would like to join WikiProject NBL. I believe that this is something that you might be able to help me with, by creating user boxes and player boxes for it or even adding articles about Players

Mdmanser/Created Userboxes
Hi, Mdmanser/Created Userboxes seems to be in the wrong spot, you may want to think about a pagemove. It looks like it would be more suted to your userspace (for example User:Mdmanser/Created Userboxes). --blue520 15:42, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
- I thought that was the case, it a friday and is getting late.--blue520 15:51, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
- You may want to also fix this User:Mdmanser/More as it is now a doubble redirect.--blue520 15:54, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
NRL Page
Very good work. This page is looking great. :-) --dan, dan and dan 06:46, 20 May 2006 (UTC)
Oh, looks like it was an error on my part, please accept my apologies for that. - Regards, Mailer Diablo 05:31, 3 June 2006 (UTC)
Hey Mdmanser
Just to remind you just in case you forgot about WikiProject NBL. Would be great if you could create a basketball barnster and results table if possible.

Old Sydneians Proof
Hi. Just wondering where you came to the view that Sammy Woods went to SGS when I can't find this on his page or anywhere else. Otherwise - good job. Cheers, Jpeob 06:09, 18 June 2006 (UTC)
- It was a long time ago that I added that in, but I'm pretty sure I got it from his Cricinfo page. It defintiely has something on there about him attending Grammar. Hope this helps, --mdmanser 07:20, 18 June 2006 (UTC)
- Ok cool, thanks. I added the info onto his page, which might be a good idea if you're gonna add them onto alumni pages. cheers Jpeob 07:37, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
A short Esperanzial update
As you may have gathered, discussions have been raging for about a week on the Esperanza talk page as to the future direction of Esperanza. Some of these are still ongoing and warrant more input (such as the idea to scrap the members list altogether). However, some decisions have been made and the charter has hence been amended. See what happened. Basically, the whole leadership has had a reshuffle, so please review the new, improved charter.
As a result, we are electing 4 people this month. They will replace JoanneB and Pschemp and form a new tranche A, serving until December. Elections will begin on 2006-07-02 and last until 2006-07-09. If you wish to run for a Council position, add your name to the list before 2006-07-02. For more details, see Wikipedia:Esperanza/June 2006 elections.
Thanks and kind, Esperanzial regards, —Celestianpower háblame 16:00, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
Would you like me to knock up a schematic diagram of the (ridiculously complicated) qualification structure? I think that people will find the chronological list rather hard to understand without one. I have a surprisingly in-depth knowledge of cricket structures for the associate and affiliate nations and I think it could come in helpful here. (I suspect that I am one of a handful of Wikipedians to know who Tony Munro is...) Coverage of affiliate and associate cricket is pretty sporadic in the media, and it would be good to have a more systematic coverage on Wikipedia. Some co-ordination might be helpful - would it be worth forming a "task group" of WP:CRICKET to deal with affiliate and associate cricket? TheGrappler 20:41, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah that'd be great if you could put one up - it took me quite a while to figure out how it all worked myself. And as for the task force, well, I think that'd be a great idea. --mdmanser 23:08, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
Rugby league logos
The Manly-Warringah, Parramatta and Canterbury-Bankstown logos were found after a long and arduous Google Image Search and I saved them to my hard disk without actually copying the original image locations. I had to clean them up in Photoshop a little but unfortunately those were about the biggest sizes I could find. I know there are larger versions out there, but I'd have to do some more in-depth hunting. Greg the White Falcon 04:17, 15 July 2006 (UTC)
NRL
Hi, I understand your concern for the removal of logos on the National Rugby League page, but could you please explain youself as to why you removed the formatting of the tables? I can't see any policy against the use of formatted wikitables, so why was this done? Also, could you please review and make amends for your edits so that the tables are not disrupted in any way; at the moment, as a result of your edits, the columns are not lined up correctly. Cheers, --mdmanser 01:16, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
- Harmful? Disruptive? Are we looking at the same page? ed g2s • talk 01:26, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
- I refer to the section National_Rugby_League#1908_-_1994:_expansion_of_the_NSWRL_Premiership for example. And as I asked previously, could you please explain youself as to why you removed the formatting of the tables?
- I merely replaced the formatting with the default formatting of the .wikitable class, which has the benefits of separating style from content. ed g2s • talk 01:34, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
- Is Separation of style and content a Wikipedia policy? I've seen a load of other pages that use formatting for their tables. Could you also please fix your edits which moved around the content within the tables too? --mdmanser 01:37, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
- Does it have to be to be a good idea? What was so great about the other formatting? ed g2s • talk 01:42, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
- That wasn't my question. I asked if there was a policy. And with regards to your own question about the formatting - apart from the page looking a little brighter, it seems to be a lot easier to read as well. Could you also please fix your edits which moved around the content within the tables too? --mdmanser 01:47, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
- Wikipedia:Accessibility#Style_and_markup, and the layout has been fixed. ed g2s • talk 01:49, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
- I merely replaced the formatting with the default formatting of the .wikitable class, which has the benefits of separating style from content. ed g2s • talk 01:34, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
- That page is a proposed Wikipedia policy, guideline, or process. The proposal may still be in development, under [[User talk discussion, or in the process of gathering consensus for adoption. References or links to this page should not describe it as "policy".

Shore Rugby Premiers
Shore have won, they can't be defeated, so don't change it back. You can add riverview to it if they beat Shore next week but Shore will still be joint premiers.
Non-denominational?
Hey Manser, how are your trial going? I found a few more guys from Grammar who have accounts User:Recurring dreams and the others are on my userpage. Anyway, on the GPS page, you mention Grammar is currently non-denominational, which is a redirect to Non-denominational Christianity. Are you sure that it still is? I know we have teh hymns and everything, but the athiest teachers are contantly telling Vallance to move more secular. Thats why the prayer was removed a few years back. GizzaChat © 12:47, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
- Hey Girik. Yeah for that column I only took the wording from the opening line of Sydney Grammar School, Sydney Grammar School (colloquially known just as Grammar) is a non-denominational, independent school for boys located in Sydney, Australia founded in 1854. I guess I made a mistake there - I think it should be non-denominational rather than the non-denominational think I have there; my bad. Yeah I'm starting to see a few GPS people roaming the wiki at the moment, but no major editors as yet. Anyway all the best, --mdmanser 12:57, 14 August 2006 (UTC)

Sydney Swans userbox
Where's the logo gone? any ideas why / how we can get one back?Garrie 22:41, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
- To be honest, it doesn't look as though it'll be making another appearance anytime soon. There's been a major crackdown recently on sporting logos appearing on the wiki, and it turns out that some users believe that they are totally unacceptable. I've been lobbying for a change in policy but I don't think the rules will change. For the picture that did appear in the userbox, the copyright tag was recently changed from a "self-made" picture to a copyrighted logo, even though the picture is a "derivative" of the original log. If you have any more questions regarding this just let me know. Cheers, --mdmanser 06:10, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
- Any chance of replacing the logo with something like
- ----------
- |\ whi /|
- | \ te / |
- | \ / |
- | \/ |
- | red |
- |________|
- ? (gee that looks better in the fixed-width edit screen!) Garrie 23:02, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
- I severely doubt it. As I said, anything including text (which I think is what you proposed) is considered to be a derivative of a copyrighted logo, which is unable to be used in userspace. Don't stress over it though - it's not the first time this logo removal has occurred in NRL/AFL userboxes. Trust me from experience, it's not the end of the world. --mdmanser 06:04, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
- The photo of the mascot doesn't seem to have any copyright issues associated with it.Garrie 23:00, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

Regarding your proposed change to GPS Schools
Regarding your proposed change to GPS Schools, maybe reducing the sizes of the crests would help - larger pages may well be deleted because of lack of WP:V and sources. Jpe|ob 12:33, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
- By the way, I note your recent work on such pages as New South Wales Rugby League season 1914. Maybe the Image:NSWRL 1910-1919.png could look better if it was zoomed in more. Jpe|ob 09:23, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
- == Re:Regarding your proposed change to GPS Schools ==
Yeah I thought about zooming in the picture, but I decided against it. Firstly, I'm thinking of doing more to the pictures which would require them to be at present scale and secondly, I'm looking for consistency amongst each of the pages. Also, I think a general area of Sydney gives people unfamiliar with the area of exactly where teams were based around the placed a hundred years ago, and how they've developed outward over the years. If we just showed the city centre, 99% of people wouldn't know where that is in relation to the entire city. --mdmanser 10:06, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
NSWRL clubs
Nice work with the pages, was looking at the map for the seasons 1910-1919 and Western Suburbs seem to be located somewhere near Parramatta when they were based at Ashfield for the first sixty odd years of their history. I didnt want to make any changes as I'd prob mess up the map so I just thought I'd let you know. Cheers mate Soundabuser 22:31, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
- Hey thanks for pointing that error out to me. To be honest, I can't remember why I put Western Suburbs there, but I do realise the mistake now and I promise I'll fix it up by the end of the year sometime. Thanks for letting me know. Cheers, --mdmanser 04:38, 14 September 2006 (UTC)

Special Windler
I have joined wikproj rugbyl. as you suggested. I will however only change, and happily, anything to do with the Brisbane Broncos and QLD Maroons. So if you have a job for any of those two subjects i would more dan happy to help SpecialWindler 06:38, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
Shane Perry
Why is Shane Perry have a different manual of style for update time. You changed the manual of style, which was good, but you changed the update time. First of all, why did you add time and the should be 1 october, seeing it was shane perrys last game. Could you please explain on my talk page??? (i dont mean to be rude). I have also done a bit for the WP:RL
- It's a contentious issue really. I created the infobox based on its football counterpart, and the style under which it SHOULD be done can be seen at [Template talk:Infobox rugby league biography]]. The real manual of style has the five tildes (~) for the time signoff, but as you say, his last game was on October 1. Personally I normally go by your method and I have done with 99% of the articles so far. But I'm not sure why I used the five tildes in his infobox - perhaps just a brain explosion at the time. Change it back if you want, I'll be using the original (just the date) style from now on anyway. --08:40, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
