Barotse Floodplain

edit

Hi, I have Barotse Floodplain as a proper name in several sources, eg "Zambia" map in the International Travel Maps series, and Encarta World Atlas (though the latter has Flood Plain as two words). I considered calling it Barotse Plain which everywhere with a an initial cap, but I found that "Barotse Floodplain" gets more hits on Google, so I'm putting a redirect from Barotse Plain instead, and from local names too. Regards, Rexparry sydney (talk) 06:34, 19 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your reply, I see that I had mis-typed lowercase 'f' in several places, still a bit of proofreading and tidying up needed! Rexparry sydney (talk) 06:47, 19 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Reference for Crack Cartoon

edit

Hi Snap, just thought I'd tell you that we need a link to a website where proof of the reference can be found. References almost always need to be links to other prominent and reliable websites. Thanks. -- P.B. Pilhet 03:44, 5 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Oh, I see that you didn't actually add the reference to the article, you were just pointing it out. Nevermind. :-) -- P.B. Pilhet 03:49, 5 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (Image:SeattleSoundersFClogo.jpg)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:SeattleSoundersFClogo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:40, 8 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Redirect of Webster lake estates

edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Webster lake estates, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Webster lake estates is a redirect to a non-existent page (CSD R1).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Webster lake estates, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Unreferenced BLPs

edit

Hello Oh Snap! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. Please note that all biographies of living persons must be sourced. If you were to add reliable, secondary sources to this article, it would greatly help us with the current 370 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

File source problem with File:Amb Tufo.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Amb Tufo.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 12:30, 3 February 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Martin H. (talk) 12:30, 3 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

edit

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being minor in the usual way.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. With the script in place, you can continue with this functionality indefinitely (its use is governed by WP:MINOR). If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 18:19, 15 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Proposed deletion of Webster's reagent

edit

The article Webster's reagent has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

This is either incomplete or a hoax. As written, this formulation could not produce any coloured derivatives or reactants capable of sensitive detection. There is a Webter's reagent but I cannot finda source for its formulation. It would be better deleted than stay as a factually incorrect article. I suspect that there is a missing ref to one of the halides here. In any case, there is no evidence that this reagent is notable. Fails WP:GNG.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.  Velella  Velella Talk   20:03, 30 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
