Shouldn't the Category:Wikipedian new page patrollers strictly mean holders of the NPR right? Thoughts? Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 22:19, 8 August 2022 (UTC)

I wondered about that, which is why i stopped after adding only 2 of the userboxes. On the other hand, that category already includes some other templates. Anyway, I'll think of a category name and move all these award userboxes there. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 01:53, 9 August 2022 (UTC)
Done I've moved those two and the other four to a new category, Category:Patrolling award templates, under Category:Wikipedian new page patrollers. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 07:25, 9 August 2022 (UTC)

For page Ghana Mangra

As you mentioned this page in not on census.gov.in. this page is available on this site but with different name GHANA MAGRA MahendraPrajapatKhejarla (talk) 05:40, 11 August 2022 (UTC)

https://censusindia.gov.in/census.website/data/population-finder MahendraPrajapatKhejarla (talk) 05:43, 11 August 2022 (UTC)

Ah, i see: I'll remove the prod and move it to the right name. Are you able to get sources soon? If not, i can move this article to draft space where you can work on it without hurry. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 05:45, 11 August 2022 (UTC)

Yes but this is real name. On website it is wrong MahendraPrajapatKhejarla (talk) 06:49, 11 August 2022 (UTC)

If you find some source to show that this is the real name, then we can go with it. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 06:56, 11 August 2022 (UTC)

Bhawi railway station

I know this is not a notable thing. But it is a geographical thing which is supposed to know and for record MahendraPrajapatKhejarla (talk) 03:57, 12 August 2022 (UTC)

Maybe you can create a table in the railway line article for all the stations. That way you can add coords and important data to the table, without the need to create a non-notable article. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 03:58, 12 August 2022 (UTC)

The Sporting Age

Did you check the talk page? Four Newspaper.com sources are linked there. Scorpions13256 (talk) 07:44, 13 August 2022 (UTC)

I'll check those refs. Please add them to the article too. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 08:03, 13 August 2022 (UTC)
Thanks. Scorpions13256 (talk) 08:37, 13 August 2022 (UTC)

Help

Hey, MPGuy2824. Hope you are fine. i got a mail in which someone wants to work with me as a volunteer what should i reply them? — | | Poli Hunt (talk) 12:34, 14 August 2022 (UTC) | | —

Hi Poli, This could be a paid editing job, but it might not be. What i've done previously with similar requests, is to say that i prefer communication to be on my wikipedia talk page, and not via off-wiki channels. Even paid editing is allowed on wikipedia, as long as you follow the rules laid out in WP:PAY. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 02:13, 15 August 2022 (UTC)

@MPGuy2824: I will never accept a paid editing, because i am just interested in Writing on Wiki, this isn't my job. I will not reply to that mail, this will more better than working with them. Thank You — | | Poli Hunt (talk) 08:34, 15 August 2022 (UTC) | | —

It may not be a paid-editing gig. Maybe they want help with something. I'd suggest that you ask them to contact you via your talk page only. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 09:05, 15 August 2022 (UTC)
MPGuy2824, Okay Sure.

Thank You — | | Poli Hunt (talk) 17:29, 15 August 2022 (UTC) | | —

Draft:List of television and radio stations in Baguio City

Why did you move it to draftspace? Impossible for List of television and radio stations in Iloilo City and List of television and radio stations in Zamboanga City. The other 2 mentioned articles have no sources and nominated for deletion. SeanJ 2007 (talk) 11:03, 16 August 2022 (UTC)

@SeanJ 2007: The article was unreferenced and clearly not ready to be in wikipedia mainspace. Regarding the other links that you sent, please see WP:OTHERSTUFF. I suggest you work on adding reliable references to this article while it is in draft space and then submit it via the AFC process. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 11:10, 16 August 2022 (UTC)
What about the other two that I mentioned? They were nominated for deletion but closed as keep. Should we just tag them as no sources for now? SeanJ 2007 (talk) 11:14, 16 August 2022 (UTC)
I saw their AFD's, voters said there it meets WP:NLIST even though it has no sources and there's categories. It is also the same at Draft:List of television and radio stations in Baguio City. SeanJ 2007 (talk) 11:16, 16 August 2022 (UTC)
With my preliminary reading of NLIST, i would disagree with that AfD. I've already tagged one as unreferenced. The other one has a single ref. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 11:20, 16 August 2022 (UTC)
Is it okay if I report this to WP:ANI? I think there has been a mistake here. SeanJ 2007 (talk) 11:27, 16 August 2022 (UTC)
Take a look at more AfDs for lists first. ANI seems wrong for this kind of case. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 02:55, 17 August 2022 (UTC)

I have unreviewed a page you curated

@Dr vulpes: Please explain why. Even at a second glance, it seems like a passable disambiguation to me. What haven't I noticed? -MPGuy2824 (talk) 01:29, 21 August 2022 (UTC)

Ack! I have no idea how this happened, I do remember reviewing it but I don’t remember unreviewing it. I’m on mobile now but when I get home I’ll take a look and see what happened. Dr vulpes (💬📝) 01:50, 21 August 2022 (UTC)

I went though the NPP log and for some reason I unreviewed that article but reviewed all the other ones before and after it. I’m going to assume I made a mistake and just clicked the checkmark and moved on. Sorry about that I’ll be more careful in the future. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Log?type=pagetriage-curation&user=Dr+vulpes&page=&wpdate=&tagfilter=&subtype= Dr vulpes (💬📝) 02:12, 21 August 2022 (UTC)

Its ok. I have done enough of un-reviewing by mistake. I was just worried that i missed something. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 02:15, 21 August 2022 (UTC)

@सत्यान्वेषी: you are spreading out the conversation about this topic on too many talk pages. Please centralise it to the talk pages of the the two lists. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 05:18, 21 August 2022 (UTC)

Request for review

Hello, Dear MPGuy2824, I was just hoping if you could review these two pages (No Bears & Speak No Evil (2022 film)), if you have the time. I would highly appreciate it. Thanks and have a great day! The Ocean (talk) 04:16, 21 August 2022 (UTC)

@The Ocean: I've looked at both. Most of the sources either seem to have bare mentions of the film (along with other films shown in the same festival), OR are database sites. That said, i've not delved too deeply into WP:NFILM, as yet. I've watchlisted both pages so that i can learn from a reviewer who is more conversant with film articles. I'm sorry that I couldn't help much. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 05:05, 21 August 2022 (UTC)
Thank you for the fast response, and your efforts. I'll keep that in mind with WP:NFILM, and will try to improve the sources. Thanks again for your time and have a great day! The Ocean (talk) 02:19, 22 August 2022 (UTC)

Regarding Madhya Pradesh MLAs

Hello, as i searched Devendra Singh Patel has already been created as Devendra Patel same for Banavareelal Sharma and can't find Dr. Dhyansingh Solanki, he is spouse of Jhuma Solanki and Aruna Vivek Tiwari as an MLA. —— Poli Hunt 18:28, 23 August 2022 (UTC)

Hi Poli, I created a redirect for Devendra Singh Patel to Devendra Patel. You can do the same for other name variations where an article already exists for the subject. If I understand you correctly, you aren't able to find sources for the other three names. If so, you can use the two sources that i mentioned in Wikipedia:WikiProject Indian politics/Open tasks/Politicians/Madhya Pradesh MLAs, since they are all winners in the 2018 MP election. The articles will be tagged for using primary sources only, but they should pass review. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 01:36, 24 August 2022 (UTC)
@MPGuy2824, I didn't find Aruna Vivek Tiwari and Dr. Dhyansingh Solanki as an elected MLA. Name the constituency from they won. ——— Poli Hunt 04:39, 24 August 2022 (UTC)
Aruna Vivek Tiwari seems to have been a runner up in Sirmour Assembly constituency. Non-notable since she didn't win. Dr. Dhyansingh Solanki's article already seems to exist as Jhuma Solanki. I've removed both these names from the list. Thanks for checking. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 04:44, 24 August 2022 (UTC)
Ok, Thanks ——— Poliiii (talk) 04:49, 24 August 2022 (UTC)

Madhya Pradesh MLAs

Jajpal Singh Jajji is already created as Jaipal Singh Jajji ——— Poliiii (talk) 09:10, 24 August 2022 (UTC)

Jasmant Jatave Chitree is already created as Jasmant Jatav ——— Poliiii (talk) 09:11, 24 August 2022 (UTC)

Jugul Kishor Bagri created by a sockpuppet as Jugal Kishore Bagri. It's deleted now. ——— Poliiii (talk) 09:14, 24 August 2022 (UTC)

Kamlesh Pratap Shah already created as Kamlesh Shah ——— Poliiii (talk) 09:16, 24 August 2022 (UTC)

For the ones already present under a different name, you could do either of the following:
  1. create a redirect from the redlinked name to the created article. This is easier.
  2. go to the "what links here" from the red linked name (e.g.[1] ) and correct the wikilink there. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 09:28, 24 August 2022 (UTC)
For Jugal Kishore Bagri, it should be ok to re-create the page. If this is an issue due to the previous deletions, then you can submit it as a draft via WP:AFC. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 09:32, 24 August 2022 (UTC)
@MPGuy2824, will try to do all articles listed in the list made by you. Thanks ——— Poliiii (talk) 09:34, 24 August 2022 (UTC)

Thank you for the barnstar

Very appreciate the barnstar. Will work harder to help with NPP review. JohnThorne (talk) 15:56, 25 August 2022 (UTC)

Praha-Eden railway station

Hello. I've noticed that you moved an article about Praha-Eden railway station to "Drafts" stating that it "is not suitable as written to remain published". (I explicitly marked the article as stub.) I created this article from a similar article about another railway station on the same line. May I ask why the article about Eden station has been moved to drafts when the other one is ok (even though it's sourced by only one link that's permanently dead). I don't see why the article about Eden cannot stay in the main namespace. Of course there's room for expansion. Nazgul02 (talk) 18:21, 25 August 2022 (UTC)

Hi Nazgul02, I moved it to draft since it was completely unreferenced. As you may know, lately there was a consensus on WP that railway stations are not inherently notable, and need to pass WP:GNG. The other article that you mentioned is very old and falls out of range of articles that can be draftified. Short of actually finding and adding refs, all we can do is add maintenance tags to such articles. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 01:09, 26 August 2022 (UTC)

Page review

Can you please review my new page Karagar? It is the latest topic in my country and unless it is reviewed it can't be seen in google search. Mehedi Abedin 14:36, 26 August 2022 (UTC)

@Mehediabedin: Wikipedia:New pages patrol, which is the group that reviews new articles, is currently running a backlog of about 10,000 articles. I request you to have some patience. In the meantime, keep improving the article and add any WP:RS that you can find. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 03:16, 27 August 2022 (UTC)

Nominated you for autopatrol

Hey @MPGuy2824, just wanted to let you know that I nominated you for autopatrol privileges. You can read the nomination here. If you don't want this feel free to withdraw it. I figured you make lots of articles in kind of waves from time to time and since your part of NPP I assume you know what you're doing. Dr vulpes (💬📝) 00:58, 27 August 2022 (UTC)

@Dr vulpes: If granted, I'll have to check how this gels with my NPP activities. Maybe I'll have to un-review some of my own page moves, if i'd like a fresh set of eyes on them. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 02:30, 27 August 2022 (UTC)
I also see that you've request the perm for yourself. You could make the decision a bit easier for an admin by crossing the 25 article min limit that is set for this. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 02:47, 27 August 2022 (UTC)
Yep, already did it :-) waiting on a reference book to come in so I can finish/expand some more. Dr vulpes (💬📝) 03:38, 27 August 2022 (UTC)

Autopatrolled granted

Hi MPGuy2824, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the autopatrolled user right to your account. This means that pages you create will automatically be marked as 'reviewed' and no longer appear in the new pages feed. Autopatrolled is assigned prolific creators of articles where those articles do not require further review, and may have been requested on your behalf by someone else. It doesn't affect how you edit; it is used only to manage the workload of new page patrollers.

Since the articles you create will no longer be systematically reviewed by other editors, it is important that you maintain the high standard you have achieved so far in all your future creations. Please also try to remember to add relevant WikiProject templates, stub tags, categories, and incoming links to them, if you aren't already in the habit; user scripts such as Rater and StubSorter can help with this. As you have already shown that you have a strong grasp of Wikipedia's core content policies, you might also consider volunteering to become a new page patroller yourself, helping to uphold the project's standards and encourage other good faith article writers.

Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! Mifter (talk) 03:51, 31 August 2022 (UTC)

Election article survey

Hi, the upcoming election articles are getting updated now. like 2022 Gujarat Legislative Assembly election and HP. What is your position regarding the survey poll section in these articles. Please check the example of 2022 United States Senate election in Ohio#Polling. I want to draw your attention towards the detailed data transparency and the reliablity of the their polls vs Indian polls. Our op polls are way off the mark, while their polls are much closer to the final results. Indian polls never discuss their error percentage, and almost never discuss how off the mark their previous predictions were.

I have had long discussions on the UP election page about them. You can refer to my elaborate comments on Talk:2022 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly election, where I have argued in detail with many quotes and references. If there are reliable pollsters like Nielson they release the error % along with sample size like they do for US elections (check link above). In the absence of these details, it is not apple to apple comparison. IndiaTV is a pro BJP site. Indian opinion polls in my opinion are nothing more than political ads. Notice that TheHindu a reliable source does not do opinion polls, nor Indian Express, we should not be giving coverage to paid news. Which is why I am strongly against adding them into the election page. What should be done, how to proceed for a larger consensus on this? I am not sure where I can start this discussion. WT:POI ? WP:RSN? where do you suggest. On RSN a strong case can be made that polls by Godi media are not reliable. Venkat TL (talk) 13:09, 31 August 2022 (UTC)

You managed to keep the opinion polling to WP:RS on the UP election page... I'm sure that was a lot of work. I'm drooling at the data given by the US pollsters.
Anyway, RSN does seem like a good forum for this. POI doesn't get much talk messages, so i'm not sure how many folk have it on their watchlist. I'd recommend RSN, with courtesy links on WPIndia and WP:POI talk pages. I would suggest using a different term than Godi media though. Good luck. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 01:08, 1 September 2022 (UTC)
Yes, that was a lot of work, that I do not intend to repeat again for every election. Which is why I was looking to get a larger consensus over what kind of polls can be added and what not. Do you think such a consensus at RSN will be enforceable on the election pages? I myself did not know about the details US pollsters published until some user on the talk page told me to check other countries pages. It was an eye opening moment. I see that the Indian users are trying to copy the graph and table without considering the basic premise that the Error% sample space are missing.
If reliable pollsters like Nielson who release error % and sample size publish the polls for Indian elections (like they did for 2014 LS, they can possibly be added). But politically inclined news channels doing paid survey should not be promoted on Wikipedia. Many politicians and ECI say that such polls are done to influence the voters, to create an artificial wave. This is the basic premise and I kept off those polls from the article till the date of elections. After which I stopped removing them. I posted here to seek suggestions as well as do a straw poll of where you stand on the question of allowing these op polls. The latter question remains unanswered by you. Venkat TL (talk) 09:28, 1 September 2022 (UTC)
Yes, i seemed to have skipped over one of your questions. To answer: I would have to check individual sources, but i know the kind of media you are talking about. I'm pretty sure most of them aren't considered as reliable sources for political stuff. In general, i would support your proposal of not allowing such polls. I don't think that you'll see a reduction in revert work even with this though. Vandals are going to vandal and you'll even get some good-faith editors trying to add such polls to the article. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 11:08, 1 September 2022 (UTC)
Thank you for the reply. Yes, They are not reliable for political stuff which is how I have been keeping India TV polls out of the Guj and HP page. You are right, lets see how it goes. Vandals can be dealt with it is the editors in the range of 100-500 edits that object without understanding the problem. For now I have updated MOS:INDELECT, so that new users can be guided to understand what is expected and what is lacking. --Venkat TL (talk) 12:44, 1 September 2022 (UTC)

Help

I made many articles as you Asked to create articles for Madhya Pradesh MLAs and i made many articles for Uttar Pradesh MLAs. Please check them and please edit them if needed. I will be very grateful. —— Poli Hunt (talk) 08:17, 21 August 2022 (UTC)

Hi Poli. Thanks for creating those articles. I'm reviewing those (both MP and UP) articles as they come in (I have User:AlexNewArtBot/IndiaSearchResult on my watchlist, where they automatically appear. I think i'm about a day behind you in terms of reviewing, and fixing minor issues that i find. Do you have a list of UP MLA articles? If so, maybe you can create it as a page like i did for the MP ones. That way, some other article creator might also be interested in helping to create them. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 08:31, 21 August 2022 (UTC)
MPGuy2824, some aren't reviewed yet, please check them.

Thank You —— Poli Hunt (talk) 13:41, 21 August 2022 (UTC)

—— Poli Hunt 07:12, 23 August 2022 (UTC)

Poli, Wikipedia:New pages patrol, which is the group that reviews new articles, is currently running a backlog of about 10,000 articles. I request you to have some patience, but feel free to ping me if one of your MLA/MLC articles is left unreviewed for a week. Anyway, I've reviewed this page for now. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 07:20, 23 August 2022 (UTC)
@MPGuy2824, I am patient, i just asked you if there is any kind of mistake. Thank You for help and Support. I am continuously creating articles for MP/MLA/MLC and sometimes Places. —— Poli Hunt 07:28, 23 August 2022 (UTC)

Help

Can you please make a list of MLAs who's articles haven't created yet? Like Wikipedia:WikiProject Indian politics/Open tasks/Politicians/Madhya Pradesh MLAs? ——— Poliiii (talk) 09:19, 24 August 2022 (UTC)

Poli, do you have a particular state in mind? If not, there are two other states in Wikipedia:WikiProject Indian politics/Open tasks/Politicians . -MPGuy2824 (talk) 09:24, 24 August 2022 (UTC)
@MPGuy2824, Yes, Do for the Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Assam and Odisha. I will do for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh very soon just after Madhya Pradesh. ——— Poliiii (talk) 09:29, 24 August 2022 (UTC)
I'll start with Bihar. You should add Wikipedia:WikiProject Indian politics/Open tasks/Politicians to your watchlist so you know when it is changed. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 09:39, 24 August 2022 (UTC)

Hey, MPGuy2824, did you check my new creations? ——— Poliiii (talk) 13:11, 26 August 2022 (UTC)

Poli, some things that you are missing:
  1. add an infobox. This is easier when you are creating the article than later.
  2. add to the right wikiprojects (india, biography, Madhya pradesh/other state, and indian politics), you can use WP:RATER to make this easier.
  3. add the correct MLA category: Category:Madhya Pradesh MLAs 2018–2023, in this case.
Otherwise they look fine. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 03:14, 27 August 2022 (UTC)

Mention

saw a mention at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/GermanKity Venkat TL (talk) 12:15, 31 August 2022 (UTC)

Thanks, Venkat. Yes, i saw that while following up on Poli's sock investigation. There was no more interaction after my reply to them, so no matter. Very disappointed with Poli though. I tried to help them with suggestions and encouragement. All wasted on a sock. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 12:24, 31 August 2022 (UTC)
Even I answered their question on WT:POI assuming it to be a genuine question. Venkat TL (talk) 12:37, 31 August 2022 (UTC)
Oh well, nothing to be done now. The only problem is that we (and others who've interacted with him) will be a bit wary of a new editor asking questions, next time. Anyway hopefully tomorrow is a better wiki day. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 12:44, 31 August 2022 (UTC)
hopefully --Venkat TL (talk) 13:09, 31 August 2022 (UTC)

Congratulations

Hello MPGuy2824! Congratulations on getting autopatrolled rights! I just got to see your name and the tick mark for "done" when I was having a look at the Wikipedia:Requests for permissions/Autopatrolled! Happy editing! :-) --Haoreima (talk) 11:02, 1 September 2022 (UTC)

Haoreima, autopatrolled does not help me as an article creator, at all. In fact, now i'm a bit worried that there will not be a second pair of eyes to check on my work. Hopefully, that only makes me a bit more cautious, while creating slightly better articles than before. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 02:39, 2 September 2022 (UTC)

Thanks all for the kind words and the "shiny". Now i'll actually have to do some bigger patches to deserve it. ;-) -MPGuy2824 (talk) 05:19, 19 October 2022 (UTC)

New Page Patrol newsletter October 2022

Hello MPGuy2824,

Much has happened since the last newsletter over two months ago. The open letter finished with 444 signatures. The letter was sent to several dozen people at the WMF, and we have heard that it is being discussed but there has been no official reply. A related article appears in the current issue of The Signpost. If you haven't seen it, you should, including the readers' comment section.

Awards: Barnstars were given for the past several years (thanks to MPGuy2824), and we are now all caught up. The 2021 cup went to John B123 for leading with 26,525 article reviews during 2021. To encourage moderate activity, a new "Iron" level barnstar is awarded annually for reviewing 360 articles ("one-a-day"), and 100 reviews earns the "Standard" NPP barnstar. About 90 reviewers received barnstars for each of the years 2018 to 2021 (including the new awards that were given retroactively). All awards issued for every year are listed on the Awards page. Check out the new Hall of Fame also.

Software news: Novem Linguae and MPGuy2824 have connected with WMF developers who can review and approve patches, so they have been able to fix some bugs, and make other improvements to the Page Curation software. You can see everything that has been fixed recently here. The reviewer report has also been improved.

NPP backlog May – October 15, 2022

Suggestions:

  • There is much enthusiasm over the low backlog, but remember that the "quality and depth of patrolling are more important than speed".
  • Reminder: an article should not be tagged for any kind of deletion for a minimum of 15 minutes after creation and it is often appropriate to wait an hour or more. (from the NPP tutorial)
  • Reviewers should focus their effort where it can do the most good, reviewing articles. Other clean-up tasks that don't require advanced permissions can be left to other editors that routinely improve articles in these ways (creating Talk Pages, specifying projects and ratings, adding categories, etc.) Let's rely on others when it makes the most sense. On the other hand, if you enjoy doing these tasks while reviewing and it keeps you engaged with NPP (or are guiding a newcomer), then by all means continue.
  • This user script puts a link to the feed in your top toolbar.

Backlog:

Saving the best for last: From a July low of 8,500, the backlog climbed back to 11,000 in August and then reversed in September dropping to below 6,000 and continued falling with the October backlog drive to under 1,000, a level not seen in over four years. Keep in mind that there are 2,000 new articles every week, so the number of reviews is far higher than the backlog reduction. To keep the backlog under a thousand, we have to keep reviewing at about half the recent rate!

Draft:2022 Durand Cup knockout stage

Good evening MPGuy2824, I would like to request for a review of Draft:2022 Durand Cup knockout stage before 5th September because the knockout rounds would begin by next week and it would be beneficial for the visitors as well as the editors to edit 2022 Durand Cup as there are no. of templates connected to the aforementioned page. I think I have provided enough citations in the article and waiting for the match schedule to be announced so as to site the schedule sections in the article. So, the sooner the article is moved back to the mainspace, the better it will be. Have a nice day. Debankan talk  16:11, 31 August 2022 (UTC)

Hi Debankan Mullick, thanks for being polite about this; many article creators aren't. Can we wait till the QF match schedule is announced? I agree that the draft looks in much better shape than before. I'd recommend the following: remove the unreferenced tag and add a link to 2022 Durand Cup somewhere in the draft. I'd guess that it will pass AfC before you are able to add the QF schedule. If not, give me a ping back here. I'll see if i know some AfC folk who can then look at it. Happy editing! -MPGuy2824 (talk) 01:20, 1 September 2022 (UTC)
Thanks for the suggestions and also the compliment MPGuy2824. Have a nice day. Debankan talk  08:35, 1 September 2022 (UTC)
Hi. Could you please take another look at the page and help in getting approved by AfC? Debankan talk  12:36, 3 September 2022 (UTC)
I guess this has been reviewed by AfC in the meantime. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 02:09, 4 September 2022 (UTC)
It has been rejected. Could you suggest about how can I improve? I am following the same format of 2021 Durand Cup knockout stage. Debankan talk  11:02, 4 September 2022 (UTC)
The knockout stages would get a lot more press (i'd assume). You should be able to add a couple of lines of text for each of the matches. More for the semis and the finals. There is no rush: Wikipedia will never be complete. You might want to resubmit again after the quarter finals are over, and you added the relevant text for that. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 01:26, 5 September 2022 (UTC)
Hey MPGuy2824, I wanted to know whether my page will be at a disadvantage during the next AfC review since it's already been rejected twice? And, if you are free then could have a peek into it and make sure its eligible enough or not. I have squeezed out every little information that was available on internet, and I'm afraid that I can't add any more sections to it apart from match updates. Moreover, could you please explain why 2021 Durand Cup knockout stage didn't face any such scrutiny even though it had minimal amount of data. I just wanted to learn about the working process as I am a novice on Wikipedia editing. Thanks! Debankan talk  06:59, 13 September 2022 (UTC)
From what i know of the AfC process, i don't think there will be any disadvantage due to previous rejections, since you are improving the article in the meantime. That said, the reasoning of the AfC reviewers (about it being merge-worthy) kind of makes sense. Why don't you think about doing that itself? The 2021 knockout article is also prime material for merging, btw. I'm pretty sure that an editor will come by in a few months, and request a merge to the parent article. It might have been a different matter if the parent articles were huge and unwieldy. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 12:38, 13 September 2022 (UTC)
I am actually not opting for it because of continuity. Since 2021 Durand Cup knockouts have an independent page, that's why I want to make an independent page of 2022 one's too. If this its rejected, then I wouldn't continue anymore and merge it. I am still confused how the previous edition got accepted. As far I remember, it didn't even enter AfC review process, that's why I don't have any information about the process works. My guess is that there was another guy editing that page with me and he was a senior editor, so maybe he had some power or free pass maybe. I tried contacting him, but his user page says that he is on leave due to exams. Thanks for you cooperation by the way. Debankan talk  14:38, 14 September 2022 (UTC)

New user

I am new user, i submitted 2 drafts but none of them reviewed yet. I want to create articles, about History. --- HussainHistorian (talk) 18:55, 27 September 2022 (UTC)

Hi Hussain, see the first few lines in the yellow AfC review box, at the top of both articles, it says "Review waiting, please be patient. This may take 4 months or more, since drafts are reviewed in no specific order. There are 2,497 pending submissions". That said, these are clear passes for notability and shouldn't have much problem once an AfC reviewer gets to them.
Also, you are now an WP:autoconfirmed user, and you can create articles directly in mainspace. Happy editing! -MPGuy2824 (talk) 02:44, 28 September 2022 (UTC)

Please do me a favor

Hi there! You have been chosen as my mentor, so I'm asking you for a little help. I'm experienced Russian Wikipedia writer with more that 1000 edits, but, what's pretty obvious, my English is pretty mediocre and thus I can make mistakes concerning a style of the texts I'm writing, and they even may sound like an automatic translation (though I'm writing everything manually, without Google Translate or DeepL help). Because of that, I want to ask you to kindly check something I wrote in my sandbox. I want to expand one article about one district in Kazakhstan, and there's a translation of some parts of the Russian article. Can you tell whether it fits English Wikipedia's rules about Style or not, and if it doesn't, how can I fix this? Thank you in advance for any response! Written by TakingOver // Talk // Contributions 16:37, 30 September 2022 (UTC)

Hi TakingOver, since there already is an article for Enbekshikazakh District, I assume that you want to add the content from your sandbox to that one. I've done a few copy edits and have the following suggestions:
  1. Add the translated title of every Russian/Kazakh source.
  2. If possible, add a few relevant (translated) sentences as a quote to the ref tag. This makes it easier for future readers and editors to verify content.
  3. If you are unsure of the English Wikipedia style, you can read the relevant sections of WP:MOS. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 06:51, 1 October 2022 (UTC)
Alright, I'll do it. Thank you for helping me, I appreciate that! Written by TakingOver // Talk // Contributions 07:23, 1 October 2022 (UTC)

Spiderr article

Hi, I believe you moved Spiderr to draftspace. I'm not sure if you saw, but an IP had removed a bunch of content on it including the references before you moved it. Could you have a look at the draft Draft:Spiderr now that I reverted back to the revision prior to the removal of the sources and restore it if appropriate? Thanks. TylerBurden (talk) 05:18, 3 October 2022 (UTC)

Seems fine now. I guess you can move it to mainspace. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 05:30, 3 October 2022 (UTC)
Yea, can you mark it as reviewed? In order to hopefully avoid unfortunate reviews like the one that just happened since you came along after the IP removed the refs. TylerBurden (talk) 05:41, 3 October 2022 (UTC)

Safra Synogogue

I reposted the info in the article, but left the text hidden below the redirect until I cound find sources for this. This building just went through it's grand openeing and I don't have any sources covering the subject just yet. NYC Guru (talk) 05:35, 3 October 2022 (UTC)

I wouldn't recommend that. Maybe you can move the (commented-out) content to your sandbox OR to a draftspace article, where you can continue adding sources to it until you feel it is ready to publish to mainspace. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 06:49, 3 October 2022 (UTC)
I moved the article to Draft space. The mainspace title will be kept a redirect until then. NYC Guru (talk) 08:11, 3 October 2022 (UTC)

Question from Chaselolanimonkeyboy (07:41, 3 October 2022)

how can i make my own contributions to the world of wikipedia --Chaselolanimonkeyboy (talk) 07:41, 3 October 2022 (UTC)

Unconstructive edits on a politician page.

Hello MP, I hope you're doing well. There's an editor Blazin777 (talk · contribs) who made unconstructive edits and had baseless claims regarding the Venkatesh Desai page I created.

First they nominated the article for speedy deletion which was declined. Next they decided to warn me on my talk page for "personal attacks" should I take this to the admins?

Do let me know what you think about it, thanks.  Rejoy2003  10:30, 5 October 2022 (UTC)

@Rejoy2003: Thanks for pinging. Do you know for what I nominated for deletion, it's only because of unsourced sections that violates BLP. Then about personal attacks, it's not attack it's only I'm letting you know that your edits are reverted. Thanks   Blazin777 (talk) 10:35, 5 October 2022 (UTC)
Check the article talk page you clearly didn't nominate it only for unsourced sections. You gave various reasons as to why you're nominating the page which seems you're clearly lieing.  Rejoy2003  10:37, 5 October 2022 (UTC)
@Rejoy2003: It also seems to be promotional as it's unsourced. Blazin777 (talk) 10:39, 5 October 2022 (UTC)
Well if it was promotional and unsourced it would had been deleted. Didn't you check what the edit summary what the patroller has left for you? I'll recommend you going through the Wikipedia policies than just not accepting your fault here.  Rejoy2003  10:44, 5 October 2022 (UTC)
If you need talk in my talk page, not here. Thanks. Blazin777 (talk) 10:48, 5 October 2022 (UTC)
You don't seem to be cooperative on your talk page. Clearing a warning by a unjustified claims of personal attack is a perfect example of that.  Rejoy2003  10:51, 5 October 2022 (UTC)
  1. Calm down.
  2. It is hard to figure out from the page's edit history, but both of you seem to come close to violating WP:3RR. My suggestion is that both of you should avoid the article (and each other) completely for some time. This will give some time to cool off tempers. I've made a few edits to the article in question. If either of you has a problem with them, then ping me (after a few days) from the article's talk page, and we then can discuss further there. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 05:16, 6 October 2022 (UTC)

Question from Swadindileep (12:30, 5 October 2022)

How to write an article in Wikipedia --Swadindileep (talk) 12:30, 5 October 2022 (UTC)

Since you are very new, I'd suggest that go go through WP:TWA first. If you really want to start an article, then start it on your sandbox and go through the WP:AFC process. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 04:26, 6 October 2022 (UTC)

Draft:Indonesia's Got Talent (Season 2)

Hello sir, I have completed the draft of Indonesia's Got Talent (Season 2) by adding some references and external links, also adding several categories. Can you return it to the main page? Thank You. ItsHazLNut (talk) 06:51, 7 October 2022 (UTC)

You should submit it through the WP:AFC process. One of the source website asks for credentials. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 07:11, 7 October 2022 (UTC)

Review

Hello, Can you please review my this article Draft:Grand Paradi Towers. Contributor008 (talk) 07:33, 7 October 2022 (UTC)

I've not gone through all sources, but the ones i did go through do not show significant coverage. You should find some better sources and submit it throught WP:AFC. They should give you better and more detailed advice. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 07:38, 7 October 2022 (UTC)
And what is your comment about this article Draft:Rajesh Thakur, I have moved it to main space but a reviewer moved into draft. Why? He is notable as he is member of legislative assembly. Contributor008 (talk) 16:10, 11 October 2022 (UTC)
Yup an MLA is notable, but you may as well improve it while it is in draft space and let it pass through AfC. You can do the following:
  1. Add better sources. currently there is one primary source and one source which has 2 sentences about him. There must be news articles referring to him. Also you can add the ECI results source
  2. Add the relevant infobox and fill it up with the mla tenure details
  3. Add election result/s. See Rajendrasingh Baghel for an example.
  4. Add the right categories (which will only become relevant once the article is back to mainspace)
  5. See if you can find a photo of the subject that is allowed to be used on Wikipedia.
  6. Added succession box/es. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 02:20, 12 October 2022 (UTC)
What is your comment about this article,User:Contributor008/SaveFrom Video Downloader, Is this is notable website, Does all sources make him to pass GNG? And also about this article Draft:Herimanana Razafimahefa Contributor008 (talk) 15:53, 13 October 2022 (UTC)
I don't think User:Contributor008/SaveFrom Video Downloader is notable. I haven't checked all the refs, but the ones that i did check did not provide WP:SIGCOV. The other article was already accepted at AFC, so you don't need my input there. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 02:32, 14 October 2022 (UTC)

Need help against a user vandalizing articles

Hi @MPGuy2824 I hope you are doing well. This IP user @47.29.101.82 is constantly vandalizing different articles. Kindly check is back log, and I would like you to take necessary actions for good. Your help will be much appreciated. Thank you.
Khorang 22:28, 14 October 2022 (UTC)

Good job fighting vandalism. Some points:
  1. You should think about using use WP:TWINKLE.
  2. We warn editors and escalate warnings a few level before asking for a block.
  3. The IP's last edit was about a week back, so they might have created an account.
I don't think there is anything to be done unless they are back vandalising. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 03:50, 15 October 2022 (UTC)

Question from QuicksmartTortoise513 (21:26, 20 October 2022)

Hello, mentor. As an autoconfirmed user, I am trying to learn the basics of editing Wikipedia using the suggested articles page. After adding links, I have been seen as a sockpuppet due to attempting to improve the article, though I have stated to the contrary. What exactly should I do in this situation? --QuicksmartTortoise513 (talk) 21:26, 20 October 2022 (UTC)

Hi QuicksmartTortoise513, just to say that your edits don't seem like sockpuppetry to me. That said, I'd suggest that you leave that particular AfD and article alone for now. A quick glance at the sources doesn't give me any hope that the article will be kept. Don't let this situation spoil your entire Wikipedia experience. I would also suggest that you create your user page even if its just a sentence or two. Cheers and happy editing! -MPGuy2824 (talk) 02:04, 21 October 2022 (UTC)

Question from QuicksmartTortoise513 (22:11, 21 October 2022)

Is there such a list as "Articles for Inprovement," like "Articles for Deletion," where instead, listed articles need to be improved? --QuicksmartTortoise513 (talk) 22:11, 21 October 2022 (UTC)

Yes, there is: Wikipedia:Articles for improvement. There is also Wikipedia:Community portal/Open tasks for smaller tasks. If you want improve articles on a particular theme (e.g. field of study or geographically bound), you can also look into joining one or more WikiProjects. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 01:33, 22 October 2022 (UTC)

please look over the bristih Colombian page. Since you sent the page to draft I feel you also have to review and accept the draft as an article. I would suggest that you let it pass through the AFC process. the feedback that they give will be useful to you in your future path as an article creator and wiki editor. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 07:13, 23 October 2022 (UTC)

Question from QuicksmartTortoise513 (01:43, 24 October 2022)

Who has the authority to approve or reject nominations for Good/A/Featured articles, making them that class? --QuicksmartTortoise513 (talk) 01:43, 24 October 2022 (UTC)

According to Wikipedia:Good article nominations, any uninvolved editor can check if an article meets the GA Criteria, same goes for FA, except that i believe 2 editors are needed there. Very few Wikiprojects use the A-level rating. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 02:41, 24 October 2022 (UTC)

Ganga Jal

All Indians know about Ganga Jal as it is very sacred for Hindus which means it is notable and have to an independent article but when I created that page Ganga Jal, an editor redirected it to Ganges. We all know that it is very notable in India even all the population knows about it so it has to be independent page. Contributor008 (talk) 18:20, 24 October 2022 (UTC)

Contributor008, notability has a different definition on Wikipedia as compared to normal life. If you really think this should be a separate article, then I suggest that you do the following, in order.
  1. Add a few encyclopedic, well-sourced sentences about Ganga Jal to the most appropriate section within the Ganges article.
  2. Expand on this till it becomes two or three paragraphs. Then convert it into a sub-section.
  3. Read WP:SPLIT and propose a split of the Ganga jal topic to its own article.
All this will take time, but remember that WP:THEREISNORUSH. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 02:37, 25 October 2022 (UTC)

Early end of the backlog drive

A few days ago, new page patrollers got the backlog to zero. Due to the unprecedented success of the backlog drive, it will be ending early—at the end of 24 October, or in approximately two hours.

Barnstars will be awarded as soon as the coords can tally the results. Streak awards will be allocated based on the first three weeks of the drive, with the last three days being counted as part of week three.

Great work everyone! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:50, 24 October 2022 (UTC)

Question from QuicksmartTortoise513 (03:22, 26 October 2022)

Since I have already mentioned Good Article/A/Featured article nominations, how does an article change from Stub/Start to C/B Class? --QuicksmartTortoise513 (talk) 03:22, 26 October 2022 (UTC)

Editors usually change the class rating within Stub/Start/C/B without asking anyone else. You might want to look at Wikipedia:Content assessment, if you want a detailed explanation, but I use the User:Evad37/rater script while adding Wikiprojects to articles. It also tells me its rating for the article. -MPGuy2824 (talk) -MPGuy2824 (talk) 09:35, 26 October 2022 (UTC)
How does one change the class rating, though? QuicksmartTortoise513 (talk) 15:06, 26 October 2022 (UTC)
I think you should try to install the script that i linked above. You can change the class rating using that. -MPGuy2824 (talk) -MPGuy2824 (talk) 02:43, 30 October 2022 (UTC)

Question from QuicksmartTortoise513 (01:38, 31 October 2022)

Based off the criteria of a Featured Article, do you believe that the "Gus Grissom" article is ready for a rating as a featured article? --QuicksmartTortoise513 (talk) 01:38, 31 October 2022 (UTC)

I'm sorry i don't have any experience with taking an article to FA-status. Even for GA, i only have one article submitted and it hasn't been reviewed yet. i'd suggest that you read a couple of FA-reviews. That should give you a good idea of where the Gus Grissom article stands with respect to FA-worthiness. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 02:51, 1 November 2022 (UTC)

NPP backlog chart

If you are going to look into the chart, I've wanted to see a second line on the graph, probably using a different scale on the right that would show either the number of new articles (additions to the queue) or the number of reviews (subtractions). The current chart just gives the backlog but doesn't tell the whole story. Maybe keep that in mind while you investigate. MB 03:38, 1 November 2022 (UTC)

Sure, can do. I noticed your unanswered request to Nettrom from 5 months back. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 03:42, 1 November 2022 (UTC)

Question from Scatterandscream (16:24, 4 November 2022)

When your citing a law, do you cite it under book or journal? --Scatterandscream (talk) 16:24, 4 November 2022 (UTC)

It depends on what is your source. Sometimes the laws are online, in which case it is "cite web". If you are citing a gazette where the new law was published, then it would be a journal. If it is part of a country/state's constitution and you are citing that, then it would be a book. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 04:17, 5 November 2022 (UTC)

Page mover granted

Hello, MPGuy2824. Your account has been granted the "extendedmover" user right, either following a request for it or demonstrating familiarity with working with article names and moving pages. You are now able to rename pages without leaving behind a redirect, move subpages when moving the parent page(s), and move category pages.

Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:Page mover for more information on this user right, especially the criteria for moving pages without leaving a redirect. Please remember to follow post-move cleanup procedures and make link corrections where necessary, including broken double-redirects when suppressredirect is used. This can be done using Special:WhatLinksHere. It is also very important that no one else be allowed to access your account, so you should consider taking a few moments to secure your password. As with all user rights, be aware that if abused, or used in controversial ways without consensus, your page mover status can be revoked.
