Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia:
- Respect copyrights – do not copy and paste text or images directly from other websites.
- Maintain a neutral point of view – this is one of Wikipedia's core policies.
- Take particular care while adding biographical material about a living person to any Wikipedia page and follow Wikipedia's Biography of Living Persons policy. Particularly, controversial and negative statements should be referenced with multiple reliable sources.
- No edit warring or abuse of multiple accounts.
- If you are testing, please use the Sandbox to do so.
- Do not add troublesome content to any article, such as: copyrighted text, libel, advertising or promotional messages, and text that is not related to an article's subject; doing so will result in your account or IP being blocked from editing.
- Do not use talk pages as discussion or forum pages as Wikipedia is not a forum.
The Wikipedia tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome! Undisclosed paid editing
editHello MQuentin. The nature of your edits, such as the one you made to User:MQuentin/Questel (company), gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.
Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.
Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:MQuentin. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=MQuentin|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}
. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 14:48, 28 December 2021 (UTC)
- I have left a similar message on your talk page on French Wikipedia, fr:Discussion utilisateur:MQuentin. You have an obligation to disclose your affiliation with this company there as well. Thank you. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 14:48, 28 December 2021 (UTC)
Hello, I ad on my personal page the sentence : "This user, in accordance with the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use, discloses that they have been paid by Questel for their contributions to Wikipedia." Everything is ok now ? --MQuentin (talk) 16:14, 29 December 2021 (UTC)
- Yes, that looks good. Thank you!
- I have added the
{{Userspace draft}}
template to your page User:MQuentin/Questel (company). You will see that it now has a "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top. You can use it when you believe that the article is ready to be reviewed by other editors before publication. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 05:35, 30 December 2021 (UTC)
Suggestions
editI have a couple of suggestions for your draft article, Draft:Questel Company:
- Avoid using external links embedded in the body of the article. You have several external links in the "History" section, especially in the subsections "Acquisitions" and "Products and services".
- On English Wikipedia, the placement of references (
<ref>
) is the opposite of French Wikipedia. Here, they are placed after punctuation marks (WP:REFPUNC), instead of before them like French Wikipedia (fr:WP:TYPO#NOTES).
--Drm310 🍁 (talk) 15:04, 30 December 2021 (UTC)
Thank you for your feedbacks, I will see to modify. --MQuentin (talk) 15:15, 30 December 2021 (UTC)MQuentin
- I also saw that another editor removed Crunchbase as a source, but you put it back in. Crunchbase is considered an unreliable source on English Wikipedia - please see WP:CRUNCHBASE. That is because the site contains user-generated content that is published without editorial oversight.
- You can view a list of commonly-discussed sources at Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Perennial sources. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 14:10, 31 December 2021 (UTC)
Thank you for your feedback. I'm going to search other sources and references to replace the crunchbase ones. --MQuentin (talk) 15:35, 31 December 2021 (UTC)MQuentin
