Conflict of Interest

edit

  Hello, Maartenba. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest. People with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, see the conflict of interest guideline and frequently asked questions for organizations. In particular, please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, its competitors, or projects and products you or they are involved with;
  • instead, propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use require disclosure of your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing, and autobiographies. Thank you.

Some specifics on MyGet page

edit

Maartenba, I wanted to give you some specifics about the MyGet page that might help you get going again on the edits. You have a number of references that are not considered reliable sources. These include your own documents (MyGet post, github), any blog posts (even if not yours), crowd-sourced sites (Stackoverflow), and any links to sources that are not directly related to MyGet (shields.io). What WP cares about is what independent third parties have said about the subject of the article. What you have here is mostly what we would call original research because you are bringing together primary sources to tell the story of the software. This is in part because you already know too much about the subject so it's hard for you to step back. The best advice I can give is to gather third-party sources of the highest caliber you can find (newspapers, journals), and use those to develop a picture of the software, rather than starting with what you know. Start with what you can verify in those sources. LaMona (talk) 17:59, 19 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Thanks LaMona, makes sense! Maartenba (talk) 10:26, 23 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
