PnZ Cloud SVG
Hello Mabdul,
Please advise as to why you took Accelerated I/O's PnZ Cloud SVG raster to vector converter information off the "Comparison of raster to vector conversion software" wikipedia location
Pnzjerry (talk) 19:52, 3 April 2012 (UTC)
Hi Mabdul,
Upon research I see that I need to create pages on Accelerated I/O and PnZ Cloud SVG before adding them to another page. I was planning on doing that but didn't realize it needed to be done first.

- Comparison of raster to vector conversion software (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
- As you already founded out, I added in my edit sumary a link to WP:WTAF ("write the article first") - this is more or less standard in all software comparison pages at Wikipedia. If you need help in writing or wanting a review, feel free to leave a note here. mabdul 12:27, 4 April 2012 (UTC)

Barnstar lists merger
Hey Mabdul, I was wondering what standard you used to determine if a Barnstar was a "2.0" or not. It seems the easiest standard would be that BS2.0 use the Hires image and other stars do not. But there are some listed 1.0 that use the Hires image, with no 2.0 listed, like The Video Games Barnstar, Geography Barnstar, Biography Barnstar, Buddhism Barnstar, World War Barnstar, iOS Barnstar, Telecommunications Barnstar, MediaWiki SysAdmins Barnstar, and the Research Participation Barnstar (ok, so that's an all-encompassing list).
Does it make sense to move those a column over, or were you using some other standard for which stars were 2.0? Cheers! Achowat (talk) 14:40, 4 April 2012 (UTC)
- Yeah, sorry. That page is so long I simply missplaced some of the Barnstars in the cell. It's a wiki! Feel free to move them - otherwise I will do it in a few hours. Can we talk about this edit? Template:The Commons Barnstar and Template:The Commons Ambassador Barnstar are not the same Barnstars! At least I was thinking that the word 'Ambassador' has some meaning. -.- mabdul 12:21, 5 April 2012 (UTC)
- The images, award descriptions, and everything else are identical, it's simply the inclusion or exclusion of the word "Ambassador". I mean, like verbatim exactly the same award description. If these really were two different awards, I imagine there would be a change in that, even a minor one. The fact that the one I removed only appeared at WP:* 2.0 (which was always less looked-after than WP:*) leads me to heavily, heavily believe that these are just Dupe Templates. Achowat (talk) 12:46, 5 April 2012 (UTC)
- I will redirect one to the other one, you're right, one is redundant to the other. mabdul 16:31, 7 April 2012 (UTC)

Barnstars for you!
Here's some barnstars, you deserve them:
- Oh wow, a "triple banrstar". Thanks. Oh and you gave me more work XD The banrstars (with alternative versions) need a subst/safesubst... Will work on these later... Oh my, my to do list isn't decreasing. mabdul 19:07, 7 April 2012 (UTC)
I don't know the rules about AfC and the standards for approving articles, but am surprised that an article like this has been reviewed and approved. The title is obviously wrong, the lead sentence isn't a sentence, there are capital letters all over the place, the link to ABC needs disambiguation, the references are all bare URLs. And your "cleanup" added 2 nonexistent tags, presumably through typing too fast! ("rphan" and "ofootnotes"!). PamD 20:20, 8 April 2012 (UTC)
- ... red link to Steve Levine., etc. Anyway, a lot of cleanup now done - but surely the point of AfC is to advise new editors on how to produce acceptable articles, rather than dump it into mainspace and hope that a helpful stub-sorter fixes it? Have also renamed article, and added dab page entry for it. PamD 20:27, 8 April 2012 (UTC)
- Hi PamD, yes, this was an "unfinished" review: I checked the references and that the facts/claims in the two sentences were also in the references. Then I approved it, but I wanted to test a small new enhancement which I was developing and needed original a submission to decline. (small/short submissions are fast for reviewing and mostly not good enough to get to mainspace) Normally such small submissions were more cleaned up by me, but this was a quick 'n dirty move because I had not much time and wanted to check the parts of the script. mabdul 19:57, 14 April 2012 (UTC)
Thanks

Cantabrian chamois article: still waiting for images to be approved
Dear Mabdul,
Sorry to bother you again with this issue, but after having sent to Wikipedia all images copyrights months ago as it was required, we are still waiting to see the images in the article.
This is disappointing, as we spent a great deal of time preparing the article and getting the copyrights of the images.
Could you, please, find out why this is taken so long?
Many thanks

I tried installing the script by Canens in vector.js but could not get it to work (Iemptied the cache). Any help with installing it would be greatly appreciated. Independentwriter (talk) 16:13, 11 April 2012 (UTC)
- No problem. Go to User:Independentwriter/vector.js and remove everything except the line:
importScript('User:Timotheus Canens/afchelper4.js'); // Yet another AfC helper script v4
- There should nothing before the i (no whitespace). Don't forget to bypass your web browser's cache. (should mostly work by pressing CTRL+R). Happy reviewing! mabdul 20:05, 14 April 2012 (UTC)

Hey :). You're being contacted because you are involved in the ACC process, or participated in the original discussion in '08 about the ConfirmAccount extension. Artificial Heart
Dear Mabdul:
I was the CEO of SynCardia, the artificial heart company for 6 years, 2005 to 2011. During that time enormous strides were made in the evolution of the Artificial heart. The advancement of the drive system completely changed the paradigm. The older drive system weighed 400 pounds and a person was tethered to the hospital until a donor heart replaced the artificial heart. Today as a result of the Freedom 13.5 pound driver patients can leave the hospital and have the "Freedom" to live a very normal life. Also I see that much of the history of the artificial heart is absent going back to William Kolf who invented the artificial heart during WWII. I would like to update this page. What are my next steps. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Carsoncity1017 (talk • contribs) 14:36, 15 April 2012 (UTC)

Deletion requests for Tor logos on commons

Help in Unblock and Advice in Creating Article
- Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/sandbox 33 (edit | project page | history | links | watch | logs)
Hello Mabdul, I am surprised that the page submitted is empty as I spent quite abit of time on it. Is it because I have left empty spaces before the line that is not supposed to be removed? I have added more citations and published work references today. Should I resubmit? It's the first time I am posting a article on Wikipedia and I must be doing something wrong. Can I repost here for you to see what's wrong? The funny thing is that I am now unable to edit or repost anything, as Pressebot adminstrator decided I was an open proxy and blocked me suddenly. It may be because I am using an ISP account. Is there anything you can do to help unblock me? Many thanks! Lullullull (talk) 11:02, 20 April 2012 (UTC)

Problem at AfC Review Tool?
There seems to be a problem with the AfC Review Tool. When it goes to check the AfC creator's talkpage for the (possibly pre-existing) TeaHouse Invite, it gets stuck in the process and does not go beyond that action. This issue only seems to exist when the Reviewer extends the Invite, not when other aspects of the Tool are used. Shearonink (talk) 15:20, 21 April 2012 (UTC)

The article PromoJam has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Non-notable internet marketing outfit. Only indepth coverage is at [1] and [2] neither of which are independent.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

I AM THE BEST ARTIST Rene: addition of photo
mabul thanks for your support; i added my own defense to the talk page for my article I AM THE BEST ARTIST Rene but i neglected to add my 58.156.24.108 (talk) 09:28, 29 April 2012 (UTC) to identify myself(i'm not clear as to where i add enter that signature actually). obviously since my initial upload as youve noticed ive continued ammending it with further references; it is a work in progress, along with a page for the artist himself(this is not a vanity article; i submit it independently). currently i am having some difficulty uploading photographic documentation; any explain-it-to-a-child assistance from anyone about doing so is greatly appreciated; it would be a shame for the article in question to be deleted.
- was able to find a photo from own files, scanned &uploaded it to Commons but wondering if i did it correctly; haven't been able to access it to insert it into the article. filename is IAMTHEBESTARTISTRene.jpg although i initially uploaded it as IATBAwall. requesting assistance, appreciate it; still learning the ropes Penwatchdog (talk) 15:19, 30 April 2012 (UTC)

- If you have printed references, then add them (quickly) to the article and mention them in the "AfD" - otherwise your article will be deleted within a few days. Depending on the result of the AfD, a merge (if the result is delete) or a short note (or link; if the result is keep) on street art is ok. As I said: Add your references quickly or your article is history. You might want to look at Template:Cite newspaper or Template:Cite journal (more information is at these links, also more related other citation templates). Regards, mabdul 11:41, 3 May 2012 (UTC)

If a prod is removed, the only way of deleting the article is via AfD . Prods are only for uncontesteddeletions. DGG ( talk ) 18:03, 30 April 2012 (UTC)
- That's a bit odd - the user simply removed the PROD notice without changing anything although he promised. I nominated it now, but is that really wise? I mean I might also could have warned the user with {{uw-idt1}}... mabdul 18:21, 1 May 2012 (UTC)
- sure it's odd, but such is the rule and I must follow it: almost always it makes sense to have a discussion if there is an objection. If I had used WP:IAR and they objected, there would inevitably be a long discussion --it can be better to use a definitive process (And after an AfD, we can then immediately remove by speedy any attempted re-addition of the article.) The exception is unsourced biographies of living people--those Prods cannot be removed unless a source is added. But fortunately, we still have a method to quickly handle it, which is what we call a SNOW delete, a way of making a rapid termination of the discussion for an inevitable deletion. I've asked for it at the AfD, and if another admin agrees, that is probably what will happen. I often like to have confirmation from a colleague. DGG ( talk ) 19:00, 1 May 2012 (UTC)

My RFA
Hi, I just wanted to leave a note saying thank you for partcipating in my RFA, and your comments will be taken on board and acted upon. Hopfully, I will be of a level you can support in a future RFA. MrLittleIrish (talk) © 12:53, 2 May 2012 (UTC)
Thank you for your message. Here is the situation. If you take a look at File:Aponte2.jpg, you will notice that there are two different versions of the image. One (the original) which I took and uploaded and the other which someone else uploaded. The original version (mine) should stay while the other one should be removed or deleted. Images
See this for the roblox wiki thing, and for the church, I say own work. --Tomtomn00 (talk • contributions) 23:02, 2 May 2012 (UTC)
- There is nothing on that webpage that says it's released under the license CC-By-Sa-3.0, it says it's "sorta copyleft" and that license it's describing is NOTHING like the lisense you listed as, the license they have is not compatible with any license that wikimedia allows for images to be uploaded under, so it would have to be fair-use. But fair-use is not acceptable for pages in your userspace, so the image will have to be deleted. You can't just pick your own licenses and upload whatever you wish! As for the image you state is one you took, due to the massive amount of copyright infringement your account apparently has committed recently it's only reasonable to request some sort of evidence that you do own that image, since its 640x480 pixels it makes it FAR more likely it's a web graphic. There are instructions in the no-permission template in the image if you wish to dispute that claim. As for the blatant copyright infringement you keep engaging in, I suspect you'll probably see a ban on your account soon if you keep it up, if you don't already get one for already commited offenses. You REALLY need to learn the policies of wikipedia and start following them, ANI may be in your immediate future with possible sanctions/bans. — raekyt 00:29, 3 May 2012 (UTC)
- And really, you have no excuse for the improper license on File:Jake Mullaney.jpg. It specifically states cc-by-sa. The share-alike part is probably the most important. You really have to read on copyright policies, and be more careful. If you continue down this path, you'll see a contributor copyright investigation before too long. Frood! - @TomTom: If you shot the church photo, then you will likely able to send the permission to the OTRS mail address so that we can verify that: with your history of copyright violation and this image has no EXIF data, I highly doubt that you created that image.
- Related to the Roblox logo: Even if you want to use that page for citing CC-BY-SA; it still lacks a source, since I tagged the image that it doesn't contain a source. On the Roblox wiki, I couldnÄt find that image you uploaded! mabdul 10:47, 3 May 2012 (UTC)

And, so I have this straight in my head, Tomtomn00... The church picture that you claimed for so long as "your work" you are now attributing to this [3]. This is going beyond nuisance behavior. This is a serious breach of policy. Wikipelli Talk 16:33, 3 May 2012 (UTC)

- Tom, this is not acceptable behaviour, and you should know it. There are (more) links on your talkpage to your mentoring page, which we really need to resume in order to first establish the groundwork, and then move on to making you understand copyright. The copyright rules for Wikipedia are complicated, unnatural and confusing, but if you are prepared to listen, they boil down to a few basic things and they are easy to learn. But that needs you to actually listen. Let's start there. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 19:23, 3 May 2012 (UTC)

AFAIK, the codes work on internet explorer and other browsers like Mozilla firefox too. If they don't work try clicking "enter" after pressing the keys of code.
- "⇧ Shift+alt+e" - "Edit the page"
- "⇧ Shift+alt+p" - "Show Preview"
- "⇧ Shift+alt+s" - "save page"
Note: Mac OS X-users must hold control (in stead of ⇧ Shift+alt), and press access key, I guess.
I hope this helps. Brendon ishere 16:32, 3 May 2012 (UTC)

I AM THE BEST ARTIST Rene
i'm really not getting the hang of all these communication-talk-answer-mypage-userpage-bettypage-jimmypage... confusing... someone just recommended "copy (the)article to (my)sandbox" where i can "work on it" and "(they)can help me" get it up to par. anyway, i did that for now. i couldn't connect with the person who gave the above advice, will they be able to access MY sandbox to work on my article? or maybe they just also copied it to theirs?? >ugh< if i knew posting my article would cause such a hassle i wouldve waited but i still stand by it; i come across a dozen other articles daily which are more worthy of scorn & deletion!58.156.24.108 (talk) 14:12, 4 May 2012 (UTC)
- hi mabdul, i revised my article within my sandbox utilizing all new references; the revision is ready to go "live"(replacing existing version)... may i go ahead and do that, AND REMOVE THE UP-FOR-DELETION box, MYSELF? or am i to wait for some verdict/authorization? thanksPenwatchdog (talk) 03:36, 9 May 2012 (UTC)

Eliassen Group
So I'm still a Wikipedia noob but I'm trying to fix the banner you posted to the Eliassen Group page. Is that in reference to the 2nd source on the company site? Mrryanconnors (talk) 14:44, 4 May 2012 (UTC)
- I reinstalled another "maintain tag" since the article contains only press releases, primary sources, directory entries other somehow connected references (not independent) (maybe except of reference from staffingindustry.com). Please find better and more newspaper/magazine articles. mabdul 14:57, 10 May 2012 (UTC)
- I'm trying to find more 3rd party or news sources. There are 3 videos from New England Cable News that support the facts in the article, but otherwise it is difficult to locate sources that are more removed. What is the policy if more 3rd party sources are unavailable at this time? The tag seems to degrade the article by suggesting it isn't factual when all of the data is supported.
- Mrryanconnors (talk) 19:28, 11 May 2012 (UTC)
- Both links in the maintain box (Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources and Wikipedia:Citing sources) are working without problems here. You can cite the 'New England Cable News' - sources don't have to be online (read also WP:PAYWAL) nor in English! mabdul 21:42, 12 May 2012 (UTC)

Uploading a picture in which the author has given his permission for use
Hello, I'm a new Wikipedian and very confused about how to upload an image which is copyrighted but have been given permission to use. It is a picture of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center for the article that talks about the hospital itself (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beth_Israel_Deaconess_Medical_Center). I contacted the photographer of this picture (http://www.richardmandelkornphoto.com/images/work/healthcare/Beth%20Israel%20Deaconess%20Medical%20Center%20%20Shepley%20Bulfinch,%20architect-03ctf.jpg) and he has given express permission for me to post that photograph on the Wikipedia article. How do I do that? What options do I select and how do I label it and express the proper rationale?
Thanks NeoTLmed (talk) 22:58, 5 May 2012 (UTC)
- Sorry to jump in Mabdul, but Neo, the copyright holder has to agree to release the image under a compatible license for wikipedia, we have a program called OTRS over at Commons to handle these situations, for info on how to proceed visit: commons:COM:OTRS. Just agreeing to allow use is not enough, they have to agree release it freely for use, this includes commercial use.... — raekyt 23:03, 5 May 2012 (UTC)
Thank you Raeky. Bummer, it seems I won't be able to upload the picture if the copyright holder has to agree to free use. It is a proprietary photograph that he has only allowed for use on Wikipedia. Thanks anyway. NeoTLmed (talk) 16:44, 6 May 2012 (UTC)

Previous Upload request accepted but not visible
Hello, Last week i had contacted you regardign the Gaetani or Caetani family code of Arms, with reference that on the wikipedia page only a sub (more simplistic) code of arms was being shown. I had asked you to please insert an assitional (more comprehensive and complete) or Actual code of arms for the Gaetani Family.
Subsequantly to my request you very kindly accepted and proceeded to modify the page by adding the additional code of arms.
I am contacting you again because i visited the wikipedia page of the gaetani family (located on the italian Wikipedia) and there hasen't been any modifications or additions to the page. Can you please make sure that the modifications have occured?
If the modifications havent been made then please upload this one: (as it is the original code of arms)

Appreciation
Hi Mabdul. I stopped by to say thanks for helping User:Penwatchdog with the I AM THE BEST ARTIST Rene article and image. I also wanted to thank you for the NAC on the deletion discussion. That reminds me, I watched your RFA and was certain it would pass with flying colors as you've been conducting yourself with the respect and dignity of an admin for a long time. I was saddened when it started focusing on the IRC stuff instead of all the work you have put in. The community can be rough that way and we've all seen good RFAs that degrade when focusing on a single incident. I'm sorry that happened in your case as you have been one of the best Wikipedians around. You, I, and many others know you'll be an outstanding admin in the future and it's a shame the community put you through all that stuff. So I just wanted to recognize your efforts here and present you with this.
Keep up the good work. 64.40.54.146 (talk) 20:49, 10 May 2012 (UTC)
- Wow, I know only a handful of contributors acting very experienced (WP/WT space, not HD) as an IP (is it a hand full or not?). All these "IPs" are acting in the same way like me: improving Wikipedia and don't collecting hats and I'm very proud that these few (and some in the "bad" IRC and some !voters of my RfA) were recognizing the actual work and faith I'm investigating in Wikipedia. Collecting another hat won't stop me to edit Wikipedia - simply because I was a bit confused and shocked when William asked me the first time: I was a) simply not ready (policy) and b) other contributors may had been seen a hat collecting (in my eyes this could happen since I gained rights like acc, reviewer and file mover and moreover commons rights). Long story made short: thank you. I know you watch this page. ^_^ mabdul 00:54, 11 May 2012 (UTC)
"as an IP (is it a hand full or not?)"
I would guess there are about 50 or so IP users that help out in WP/WT. I probably notice them more because I'm an IP. I think IPs also notice the really helpful users more than registered users do. That's why I left the thank you note, because I noticed how much you help other people. Best regards. 64.40.57.7 (talk) 21:02, 11 May 2012 (UTC)

SVG Reversion
Thank you for your well-intentioned but nonetheless condescending messages, given that my contributions to the SVG page go back to 2009. You seem to have had no problem with the content until late last year. By your logic, Adobe SVG and SVG Web should be removed because there is no article link for them. The fact of the matter is that if you do a Google search on "svg plugin" the first two hits are Adobe SVG (which is no longer supported) and Ssrc SVG (which is supported). The SVG page has been abused as an advertising vehicle by addition (e.g., when SVG Web and Google Chrome Frame appeared they were featured ahead of pre-existing content) and removal (e.g., removing Ssrc SVG under the justification of WTAF while leaving Adobe SVG and SVG Web). I don't have the time, interest, or desire to deal with this nonsense. If I were to do as you suggest and write a page about Ssrc SVG, it would simply be removed as advertising (and justifiably so). Most of the product pages on Wikipedia are entirely inappropriate for a publication claiming to be an encyclopedia.
If adult professionals were curating the page, much of the content, including the entire "Support for SVG in web browsers" section would be removed because it consists of nothing but product plugs. But if people are going to plug products, they should at least plug the relevant ones (Corel SVG Viewer and Adobe SVG are no longer produced!). I was only trying to rectify the apparent product bias.
Have a good day, Llihrednu (talk) 16:39, 16 May 2012 (UTC)
- Yeah you're right. The Plugin section is really bad and the SVG article needs again a cleanup. Sadly that plugins don't get the faith and interest of the contributing editors. Regards, mabdul 12:53, 30 May 2012 (UTC)

project management comparison page
Hi Mabdul,
I see that you are fairly active in maintaining the "Comparison of Project Management Software" page. - Thank you
I have registered a new (personal) user name as directed (formerly Interplansystems). I do not wish to run afoul of wikipedia's guidelines. Bern68 (talk) 17:35, 29 May 2012 (UTC)
- OK, great. At the moment our decision on the comparison is, that we add only articles which have an article (read the relevant essay: WP:WTAF).
- So we have to create an article for that first. Please read first WP:REFB (how to insert references), WP:42 (which kind of references we do need, read also the links linked on that page, that is very important!) and finally go to Wikipedia:Article_wizard/Ready_for_submission and choose a good name and hit create submission.
- A reviewer (maybe me) will review your submission. Be prepared: most submissions will get declined before they are accepted, that's no shame, simply correct the issues and rerequest a review. I will follow your edits and will try to help you. After the article is accepted, we simply can add the software to the comparison. ;)

Hi there You were very helpful with my first article. I have made lots of changes to try and comply with wiki policies. Would you be so kind as to have another look?

- It's good to see that you still developing and improving that article. The main problem of this article that it lacks independent, third party and reliable references. Click on that link and read the related articles. A few quick questions about WP:AFCH
First of all, how goes the work for the FFU update? I don't do much work at FFU, but this patch seems really useful for the people that do help there. Another quick thing, I jotted down some bugs I noticed in my sandbox. Could you look into these? Thanks, Nathan2055talk 18:20, 9 June 2012 (UTC)
- Although AFCH gets many updates recently (as we disccued this in the IRC), I couldn't jumped in the FFU part, but it is on my list! ;-) mabdul 15:09, 17 June 2012 (UTC)Q
Temporary tattoo photo
Are there rules against using a photo in more than one article, or is there a specific procedure to follow?? i recently made a series of revisions to the tattoo, temporary tattoo & body art articles. As part of those revisions i also inserted a ballpoint pen tattoo photo currently viewable in the Lennie Mace article, BUT, the image is not appearing in the revisions mentioned above. i believe someone may have already deleted the data from one of the articles because of this mistake. Any advice or assistance appreciated, thanks.Penwatchdog (talk) 06:44, 13 June 2012 (UTC)
- Heh, I found the problem: next time double check the file name (and of the extension): your image doesn't include tatoo, but drawing! I fixed the articles. Regards, mabdul 08:43, 13 June 2012 (UTC)
hi Mabdul, i just made the extensive revision i'd been planning. as i expected, there are problems with reference formatting; as far as i know, i did as i was instructed... anyway i'd like to ask you to take a look when you have a chance (or maybe someone else will get to it before you?). also, problem with the ballpoint tattoo photo i mentioned in another message have apparently been fixed by someone (THANKS to whomever!) BUT the same thing happened now when i added the same photo to the ballpoint art page. is there a procedure i'm missing that i can make note of for thwe future?Penwatchdog (talk) 02:26, 14 June 2012 (UTC)
- Howdy Penwatchdog. You're certainly an excellent writer and you're doing a fantasic job on referencing. Good work. I fixed the referecning stuff here and the picture stuff here. All the best to you my friend. 64.40.54.192 (talk) 17:59, 14 June 2012 (UTC)

iDonate
Hi Mabdul, thank you for reviewing my 'iDonate' submission to Wikipedia. I am also interested in becoming more involved in contributing to wikipedia. I am interested in the review process as this is my first article creation.
I look forward to your feedback on iDonate. I found some of the research difficult as there is no other provider offering this range of services. The online donations and fundraising pages are common - white label is unusual and not offered by others. SMS texting is very new and evolving.
The online charity shop is very unique and offers huge fundraising potential to the charities. Lots of charity shops see this as a new opportunity to raise much needed funds.
I look forward to hearing from you. Regards Paddy. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Poshpaddy (talk • contribs) 14:28, 18 June 2012 (UTC)
DYK nom disappeared
Hey there Mabdul. A couple of days ago I self-nom'ed the Lennie Mace article with a hook about his ballpoint pen Mona Lisa. I just noticed it was removed from that talk page (although it still appears on another page with all waiting noms), but it doesn't appear (yet) in the queue page. There may have been many flaws to the entry but... Any other way to track that besides just continuing to check the afformentioned pages?Penwatchdog (talk) 03:57, 19 June 2012 (UTC)
- To be honest: I hate DYK and the rules are stupid and thus I haven't nominated anything since ages (they changed the system dramatically since then). As far as I saw, that the DYK bot removed the nomination, so they seem not wanting to transclude that page. Don't ask me why. mabdul 11:16, 1 July 2012 (UTC)

Your recent edits
Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button or located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when they said it. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 17:55, 27 June 2012 (UTC)

Why in the name of GOD do you all keep rejecting this goddamn article? IT HAS RELIABLE SOURCES WHAT THE FUCK!!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gilthanas91 (talk • contribs) 22:23, 7 July 2012
- Please cool down, don't shout: we have no deadline! Your draft might have reliable sources, but not independent... Please read WP:42 and WP:LINKEDIN. Moreover you might read our notability guidelines related to companies and for software. mabdul 10:06, 9 July 2012 (UTC)
- You are right, i am sorry. But i dedicated to this page a lot of my time so i was quite frustrated. Could you please tell me which parts of the article need a source for confirmation and/or what sources are not reliable according to the Wiki guidelines?

Hey there- I've just been chatting with the author about this article on IRC. It seems that there was an episode of Superquark (an Italian documentary series; see Piero Angela for more details) specifically about this software, which, I believe, would be enough to render it notable, even without any other sources. I appreciate your concern about unverified claims; would it perhaps be possible for you to cut the problematic claims out of the draft? That way, the author can see what the page would look like, or get an idea of what needs to be sourced. Thanks, J Milburn (talk) 22:25, 10 July 2012 (UTC)
- I'm leaving it for another reviewer. If you check the history you will notice that I wasn't the only reviewer declining this submission. It still lacks any third party, independent and reliable reference... In my eyes it simply fails GNG. mabdul 10:52, 11 July 2012 (UTC)
If i may have a word... When AVS revieved the article, it was still without or with poor references in my humble opinion... Now, maybe the article is still not perfect, but for what i can see it does not lack reliable references. But now, i have to ask you something. In your revision you were worried about the notability of the subject, but now it has been shown. Now you say that it still lacks references. I can only assume that you do not agree with the creator of the page
--Fabio Piacentini (talk) 12:57, 11 July 2012 (UTC)
- :-( OK, now a full review of the references which simply explains the situation:
- ref #1 press release
- ref #2 press release
- ref #3 press release
- ref #4 press release
- ref #5 press release (?) Ad(?) at least primary source
- ref #6 primary source
- ref #7 not sure about that one, no isbn and the amazon link i found wasn't convincing me
- ref #8 youtube, I don't watch these
- ref #9 finally a good one, but badly cited: noi issn, no magazine title, no release date, no pages, etc.
- ref #10 'Toonz' is only mentioned one time; not indepth
- ref #11 'Toonz' is only mentioned one time; not indepth
- ref #12 Interview. great. with whom? published where? By a PR agent of his own company?
- Summa summarum: This is a clear decline because I got only one good ref, one ref I'm not sure about and thus it fails GNG. Moreover the problem I tagged some revisions ago are still not addressed: many claims/facts are still uncited... mabdul 14:02, 11 July 2012 (UTC)
- I tagged some of the showstoppers, though even after they are addressed, this article is a no-go. At least another reference of the depth level of #9 is required, and preferably in English, as otherwise only the local notability is demonstrated. Apart from notability, there are severe problems with WP:V and WP:WEASEL. Effectively I see no circumstances this article may be accepted under. — Dmitrij D. Czarkoff (talk) 14:19, 11 July 2012 (UTC)
- ok, now:
- number 8: it is an episode of a documentary, i referenced youtube because it was ALSO posted there. want me to reference the episode and the timecode?
- number 9 vs number 12: lol, an interview with an ITALIAN reporter is a good source, while an interview with Donald Wallace is not a good one.
- number 7: it is a book. buy it, go to page 169, and there it is the reference in English (even if the book is written in japanese, or at least the one that i mentioned)
- now, to address your doubts, the reference number 8 has been addressed as a stronger source (notability issue) if compared to others (a tv show is quite notable IMHO).
- weasel words are easily corrected (got no time today, i'll do them tomorrow). the language section has no references as the ones from [Adobe Illustrator] (my my, that page is not AfC...)
- now, other issues?
- --Fabio Piacentini (talk) 22:15, 12 July 2012 (UTC)
- Please, update metadata for references. The documentary has publisher, date, editors, etc. The book has an author, a publisher, an ISBN, etc. It's not Mabdul's (or mine for that matter) task to track for the source.
- Furthermore, references showing only that the product in question was used by someone don't add to notability: it is a mere credit instead of showing that a reputable media concluded that it is worth mentioned. — Dmitrij D. Czarkoff (talk) 10:22, 13 July 2012 (UTC)
- "lol, an interview with an ITALIAN reporter is a good source, while an interview with Donald Wallace is not a good one." - who is Donald Wallace that (<-- notice the redlink!)? Who is SA in the interview? Was it published? Really, we are a global encyclopedia and the italian interview was actually published in a printed magazine... Moreover: the Youtube link shouldn't be linked because it is a copyright violation since Rai Uno didn't uploaded the video... mabdul 11:32, 13 July 2012 (UTC)
- --Fabio Piacentini (talk) 22:15, 12 July 2012 (UTC)
- Mabdul, please stop editing the page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Toonz, every time you find something that does not suite ::::you. Now, i do not want to say that you are not right at all (yeah, it still lacks of reliable sources, and i need to improve the page), but it is quite... ::::frustrating how you every time that the page is reviewed tag something as "inappropriate". I know, it is your "job" as an admin, but there are articles in ::::wikipedia that are really pathethic, but still has been revieved as appropriate.
- Moreover, Donald Wallace is the owner of the Wallace Creative Inc. I think that something/someone can be notable even if it does not have an article on wikipedia.

Missing radio buttons and checkboxes
Hi Mabdul, I am experiencing the above problem on eg. MyPrefs - gadgets, also on AfCHelper script, but it is not constant. It changes from time to time and page to page even in the same session. When it happens, it appears all over the place. Sometimes, I think, I log in and it works fine. I have tried purging server and browswer, I have tried searching for answers. I suspect it has something to do with my java installation. I came to you because I think you're very likely to have an idea what's causing it. I was using IE8 (Windows XP Home), found I couldn't use Twinkle and switched to Google Chrome. Wanted to install IRC. I went for an opensource option, RelayIRC, would not install, requirement specified JRE2. So installed JRE2, still wouldn't work, so I reinstalled JRE 7.5. It's more or less since then that I have the problem with the radio buttons etc. Do you have any helpful suggestions? David_FLXD (Talk) 05:50, 9 July 2012 (UTC)
- PS the "Watch this page" checkbox is missing... David_FLXD (Talk) 05:51, 9 July 2012 (UTC)
- PPS My gadgets page just worked - I selected the AfCHelper Gadget, hopefully that will take priority over the installed script? Under Compatibility I also deselected the Java standard library, which I had selected when I was using IE8. Let's see. David_FLXD (Talk) 06:04, 9 July 2012 (UTC)

- If you use both (the hand coded script and the gadget) you will have at the end two 'review' tabs/links. I still don't understand what your IRC/Java problem has to do with the AFCH. Please don't mix Java (programming language) and JavaScript! These are two totally different languages. The script (and nearly every web page) uses JavaScript - Java is for 'big' applications which don't run within the browser.
- Which 'radio buttons' are you missing? I don't use these in the script until now (there are plans to add them at certain new features). Maybe create a screenshot of the problem (which occurs - or not) and upload it to Commons, or describe the problem step by step.
- "PS the "Watch this page" checkbox is missing" - already on the wishlist at WP:AFCH/DEV. mabdul 08:00, 9 July 2012 (UTC)
- Hi Mabdul, I blanked my user common.js file and am using only the gadget. It definitely did appear a couple of times after I did that, but I haven't seen the problem in a couple of days. Something I maybe didn't make clear: I didn't come to you re AfCHelper specifically, just that because you did a lot - I guess - of the coding, you might have the technical knowhow to figure out my problem. It was appearing all over. On my preferences/gadgets page, on any edit page at all, on the login page, in Twinkle, in AfCHelper. You can imagine in, say, Twinkle, trying to pick a tag with invisible checkboxes! There was once, I don't remember what page, unfortunately, but I think it was one of the help pages, where checkboxes appeared on mouseover. Another time, probably also in a help / Wikimarkup page, where I clicked on an expand link in a text line, and a check box or radio button appeared on the left end (might have been in the Upload wizard). That time the others did not reappear on mouseover. If and when it comes back I have my screenshot capture at the ready, and will post here again. Thanks for your advice meanwhile! David_FLXD (Talk) 05:18, 12 July 2012 (UTC)
- I still don't understand: about what/which checkboxes/radio buttons you are talking about? Moseover? I never used that effect! Radio buttons? I have no included. If you are talking about (when declining a submission) to give the user a Teahouse invitation: You can only do this (as mentioned in the user interface) if you notify him about your review. There is a (non working) bit 'magic' about hiding the full line (not working == only the checkbox is hidden, is already fixed in the beta script, still needs to be 'pushed' by an admin)... mabdul 10:37, 13 July 2012 (UTC)

Lotus Symphony in web browsers template
In the your edit on May 17, 2012 you included IBM Lotus Symphony into {{web browsers}}. Ballpoint pen artwork DYK nom
Hi Mabdul, sorry to bother you but I'd like to ask your for help/advice once again... I've been making numerous rewrites to my article for it to pass DYK. I'm aware it still needs work and I have no prob with that, BUT, before i proceed with further cuts/rewrites I'd like a third-party opinion on what definitely needs changing and what i can defend/challenge against DYK administrators. I wanna make sure if the article is indeed in that bad of shape OR am i dealing with an administrator on a power trip. Most annoying is one person who's continually calling everything promotional. Other claims of unreferenced material are understandable and I'm willing to part with if i can't dig up sources but... I don't have much more time to put into rewrites, paying-jobs to get to, etc! I haven't yet revised to meet the current list of complaints, but i plan on returning to it tomorrow and/or after hearing from you. thanks friend. Penwatchdog (talk) 14:23, 12 July 2012 (UTC)
- For now, I've addressed the issues raised by "Crisco" at DYK, but I'd still like your advice at your convenience. More&more it's becoming a "good article" anyway, so i'm not against DYK requirements, but there's a limit to how much I'm willing to give up just to make the front page for a day. Always appreciated. Penwatchdog (talk) 06:25, 13 July 2012 (UTC)
- talk page stalker Hello again, Penwatchdog. To answer your question, in general you'll have to fix everything that people ask you to fix. About 2 years ago, a few copyright violations got through DYK and on to the main page. That caused a big kerfuffle and ever since then people have been very strict about DYK submissions. A lot of people don't think it's fair, but that's the way things are being run now. Sorry for the bad news. I'll look through the article and see if I can help. Best regards. 64.40.54.88 (talk) 11:51, 13 July 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for your watchful eye! It's all understandable, and under control for now as far as i'm concerned, but the admin in question is hitting me with matters of editorial opinion rather than potentially damaging/questionable content; I've now made a point of that on the DYK page and/but continue to edit-to-please. i couldn't hold back my personal view, i hope that's not my downfall, but i'm a professional writer and there's a limit to what i'll withstand from an apparent student. Thanks again and if i can help you in any way, "do~zo~" Penwatchdog (talk) 12:29, 13 July 2012 (UTC)
- I'm going to move our conversation over to your talkpage. Hope that's OK with you. 64.40.54.88 (talk) 12:47, 13 July 2012 (UTC)

- talk page stalker Hello again, Penwatchdog. To answer your question, in general you'll have to fix everything that people ask you to fix. May I have your help, please?
Hi Mabdul. Since you are one of the experts at AFC, I was hoping to get your help. Could you please move Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Wikipedia:Thanks for 4 million articles to Wikipedia:Thanks for 4 million articles for me? It's part of the 4 million article celebration. Thanks very much. 64.40.54.88 (talk) 11:30, 13 July 2012 (UTC)
- Strike that request. Ryan Vesey (talk · contribs) got it. Best regards. 64.40.54.88 (talk) 14:32, 13 July 2012 (UTC)
