Counties
Is it common practice, though? I've seen very few biographies that include counties in the infobox, and the only time I ever include them is if the article contains minimal prose, e.g. Christian Fox. Mattythewhite (talk) 12:22, 28 October 2016 (UTC)
- @Mattythewhite: unfortunately there is quite a lot of inconsistency in biographical articles. Some include it, some don't. Others include UK whilst others don't, even though the common norm is not to include UK. However per Template:Infobox_person#Parameters the following should be given:
city, administrative region, country
. In regards to Northern Ireland country means NI not UK, thus the next step down is NI divisions. Obviously counties aren't used anymore as administrative regions in Northern Ireland however they are still the most commonly used unit amongst the people and even local government. Any look at a biographical articles on someone from NI will state the county they are from in prose and/or infobox, not the local government unit. So yes counties should be included. ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open!
Hello, Mabuska. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
