Request reason:

I would like to be unblocked because although I am putting links to Granta magazine, I am also updating authors' latest published works which I am doing in the interest of the authors whose pages I am editing. Also, in putting a link to Granta on their page, I am enabling people to read their writing through Granta's website, exposing people to the authors, showing that they have been published by a respected publication. I really believe that this is good for the authors, and it is exposing people to a network of good writing that is related to the author they were already interested in if they were on their page. I believe that my edits are within the spirit of wikipedia's open sharing of information and knowledge. Thanks for your consideration.

Decline reason:

You are forbidden to advertise your magazine, even if you think that doing so is a good thing. Users who edit Wikipedia only to promote something are invariably blocked.  Sandstein  17:11, 26 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

I am asking again to be unblocked so that I can continue to edit pages, but not in the way that you say is only for advertising. There are some author pages that already mention Granta in regards to an award, a story being published, a review etc. and I would like to be able to link to Granta from those that are already there. I would like to argue one more time for the editing actions I was doing before. There are many examples of what I was doing that are being allowed to carry on- two of the authors pages I was working on for example, mention and link to The New York Times or The Guardian. Will Self's page, and Martin Amis, just to give two examples. I don't see how this is fair- I also find it very helpful to have those links and I am glad that they are there because I can go to them and see what else they have to say about the author.

Decline reason:

Two key points that you seem to be missing: 1) conflict of interest, and 2) if the article mentions Granta for some reason, we ONLY use an internal Wikilink to the Granta article...if someone chooses to actually visit that article, and then choose the external link, so be it. Because the Granta article is already wikilinked, Granta MAY NOT be used as an external link, or else it's clear spam. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 14:31, 1 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

Okay, I understand. May I please be unblocked so that I may edit my own page? The Granta page? And be able to put some internal links in a few authors' pages? If not that, then only to work on our my own page? Please? I promise I won't do anything else- I didn't realize it wasn't allowed at first, and now I understand what it is that I may and may not do. Thank you for considering-

Decline reason:

No, you may not edit the Granta page. --jpgordon::==( o ) 15:40, 1 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

You currently are editing "your own page". All pages are the property of Wikipedia, having been granted such when you submit your edits. In fact, this page also belongs to Wikipedia - however, it's as close as you're going to get to having your own page. Referring to the Granta page as yours really shows that you do not get it.
