Samira Tawfik
"Lebanese citizenship is all that matters here." on her page it also says she has Syrian citizenship... Thatsyrianitalian (talk) 16:01, 6 February 2024 (UTC)
- @Thatsyrianitalian: All it says she was born into a Syrian-Armenian family, and not that she had Syrian citizenship. She might have had, but probably later revoked it in favor of a Lebanese one. Makeandtoss (talk) 09:43, 8 February 2024 (UTC)
- It appears to be confirmed that she identifies as having Syrian nationality. She was born in Syria to a Syrian-Armenian family, and her rise to fame doesn't seem to be closely tied to Lebanon, as she sings in a Bedouin accent, which is more associated with Syria and Jordan than Lebanon. Many Arabic websites describe her as Lebanese by nationality but Syrian by origin, suggesting that her Syrian identity is predominant. Therefore, it seems more accurate to refer to her as a Syrian actress and singer, rather than including Jordanian nationality in the description. Thatsyrianitalian (talk) 13:39, 8 February 2024 (UTC)
- There isn't concrete evidence to suggest that she doesn't hold Syrian citizenship anymore... Thatsyrianitalian (talk) 13:40, 8 February 2024 (UTC)
- Search her on google below it'll give you her Nationality: "Jordanian, Lebanese, Syrian" Thatsyrianitalian (talk) 13:41, 8 February 2024 (UTC)
- A quick google search reveals her being described as "Lebanese citizen of Syrian origin". Please look up the difference between citizenship and nationality. There is no source claiming she has Syrian citizenship. Makeandtoss (talk) 13:43, 8 February 2024 (UTC)
- "where they are a legal citizen, usually in the country where they were born." Where was she born? Thatsyrianitalian (talk) 13:51, 8 February 2024 (UTC)
- "usually" but not "necessarily" as evidenced by the explicit description of "Lebanese citizen of Syrian origin" and not "Lebanese-Syrian citizen". Makeandtoss (talk) 13:52, 8 February 2024 (UTC)
- I still think I'm right about this, but I won't change my view. Let me explain: American actors usually don't mention their ancestry because America is a mix of many backgrounds. But for someone like Samira, it's important to mention she's Syrian. As for Jordan, I'm not sure why it's mentioned, but it seems relevant to the conversation. Arabic question
Hi Makeandtoss, Is there an Arabic word something like al-'abra that means "the tear" (the water drop from the eye)? If so, please write it in Arabic letters. Thanks. Zerotalk 23:09, 16 February 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Makeandtoss, have you seen this question? Zerotalk 00:43, 5 March 2024 (UTC)
- @Zero0000: answered it mentally and forgot to write it. Is that spelled al-ghabra or al-abra? Neither seem a typical Arabic word nor did I find any while looking on google. Makeandtoss (talk) 07:09, 5 March 2024 (UTC)
- The problem is that I don't have it in Arabic, but only in the transliterations of 19th century Westerners. Some write it "ebra", some write it "abra". Some say it means "place of tears", others say it means just "tear". Any ideas? Thanks. Zerotalk 11:57, 5 March 2024 (UTC)
- @Zero0000: Ghabra means dust and Ebra means needle, so google results weren’t useful. I checked a dictionary and nothing there either. No synonyms for dmoo’ tears resembling ebra. Maybe the actual word was corrupted by an accent. Which region is this place located? Makeandtoss (talk) 12:10, 5 March 2024 (UTC)
- @Zero0000: ah never mind found it. ‘Ebra = عبرة = a tear but before falling down, so sort of when the eye waters. Makeandtoss (talk) 12:14, 5 March 2024 (UTC)
- Perfect! That's exactly what I needed. Thanks! Zerotalk 12:30, 5 March 2024 (UTC)

WP:1RR at various articles
At Israel-Hamas war:
At South Africa v. Israel (Genocide Convention):
Please self-revert 10:13, 10 March 2024 and 10:07, 10 March 2024. BilledMammal (talk) 11:17, 10 March 2024 (UTC)
- @BilledMammal: Self-reverted removal of "alleged" at Israel-Hamas war; I thought it had been a stable edit.
- As for this edit, why do you think it is a revert, as it has been stable for at least two months? Makeandtoss (talk) 11:30, 10 March 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you for your revert of 21:12, 9 March 2024; however, that wasn't the revert you needed to revert - you need to revert the edit which was the violation, 10:13, 10 March 2024. Editors who have tried to choose which edit to revert have gotten themselves in trouble in the past.
- Regarding 21:09, 9 March 2024, you're right - I didn't realize it had been in the article for so long. Struck. BilledMammal (talk) 11:33, 10 March 2024 (UTC)
- @BilledMammal: Ok, since it is explicitly mentioned in 1RR guideline. Makeandtoss (talk) 11:39, 10 March 2024 (UTC)

Nabataeans
Hello. I see that you have removed the information from Lipiński from the Nabataeans page on the basis that connections between the Nabataeans and the Nabayatu have been refuted.
Are there any refutations of Lipiński's hypothesis available that you used to remove this information? Because it would be preferable to mention Lipiński's hypothesis and then the arguments against it instead of removing the information altogether. Antiquistik (talk) 04:04, 25 March 2024 (UTC)
- @Antiquistik: The article is about the Nabateans generally rather than the origins of the Nabateans, and thus doesn't deserve this much of elaboration because it would be WP:UNDUE and a fringe point of view in the scholarly literature. Makeandtoss (talk) 08:57, 25 March 2024 (UTC)
Al Difa
Its Arabic spelling is already given in the article. How can you consider that you can move pages with no reason? Egeymi (talk) 15:29, 25 March 2024 (UTC)
- I didn't expect the move to be controversial, and it shouldn't, please participate in the talk page discussion. Makeandtoss (talk) 11:48, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
Grammatical correctness
You inserted the following edit into the lead for the Israel-Hamas war on 14 March.
>Israel's invasion started with laying siege to Gaza City on 2 November and—after the expiration of a seven-day truce—moved south to attack Khan Yunis on 3 December, and aiming to attack Rafah.
This is grammatically incoherent. Please double check your edits especially for the lead. This is an article on the main page; a grammatically incorrect lead is not acceptable. JDiala (talk) 15:49, 28 March 2024 (UTC)
- Another example.
- >The Israeli blockade, which cut off food, clean water, medicine, fuel, electricity and communications, led to a humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip and the collapse of healthcare.
- We don't normally say "collapse of healthcare"; it doesn't quite sound right in idiomatic English. It would usually be "collapse of the healthcare system" or something like that. JDiala (talk) 15:53, 28 March 2024 (UTC)
- @JDiala: You're obviously welcome to fix any grammatical errors; but why have you removed mention of the collapse of healthcare, which is very important to have its own standalone article? Also why have you removed mention of Israeli attacks on food infrastructure (active voice) to Israel receiving accusations (passive voice)? Please restore the information about food, electricity and water to the lede, at least in a note format, because it is well-known that Gaza was under blockade before the war, removing this information really downplays the seriousness of Israel's siege. Makeandtoss (talk) 11:48, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
- @Makeandtoss: Discuss on article page. I'll start a topic. JDiala (talk) 12:02, 29 March 2024 (UTC)

Maor Ashkenazi
shalom, I'm speaking to you from Israel, could you help me improve the English of this article Maor Ahzkenazi. I translated it from Wikipedia in Hebrew into simple English and several users already warned me that they could delete it just because it was not written properly, thanks Acartonadooopo (talk) 13:48, 30 March 2024 (UTC)
