Request for edit summary

edit

Thank you for your contributions. And I have a request. I would like to ask you to use edit summaries more often when you contribute. An edit summary helps others understand what you changed when checking the watchlist or the recent changes, and often times complements studying the diff. Think of it as the "Subject:" line in an email. I hope you don't mind. :) Cheers, Oleg Alexandrov (talk) 20:26, 20 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Calender in India

edit

Among the calenders that I have seen, Sunday is printed in different shade (not necessarily red but like red ex: red, orange, pink etc. but not green/blue), and is usually the first day of the week, though calenders starting with Monday are also common. Saturday may or may not (more common) be different colour. No other day of week gets special shade though days/dates with holiday and/or of religious significance may have picture or special colour.Ashish G 23:30, 20 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Yes, thats quite well explained by Ashish. Dates are normally in black, with Sundays (and sometimes Saturdays) in some shade of red. -Aabha (talk) 06:00, 21 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

according to Gregorian calendar it is used by all Arabic countries except Saudi Arabia (wich uses the Islamic calendar, Iran uses Persian calendar it is unofficial there but still widely used, any way in arabic countries and iran they call Gregorian calendar the "Birth calendar" as they mean the birth of prophet Jesus peace be upon him. fridays are red, saturday is the first day of the week. the months are written with litter difference from the western form:April\apreel-Septemper\Sebtembar.in Syria the month names are different, as they use Arabic months name (from syriac origin) ex(Aylol=September\Shubat=February)

Maksim-e 11:29, 18 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Just out of curiousity

edit

Just out of curiousity, what are the 500 pages you are planning to move to another wiki? I noticed you are leaving messages trying to find someone who has a transwiki bot. I don't have one, but I'm curious as I was looking for one a week or so ago trying to get 90 articles transwikied to wikibooks. Eventually I gave up and did it myself by hand, but as there were so many, I didn't follow the full proper procedure. Theoretically you are supposed to enter into the transwiki log, both on wikipedia and on the other site, every article you move, but this would make the whole process take twice as long so I skipped this step. Here is a wikipedia article where one can ask for bot requests, but if you notice, mine was never answered... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Bot_requests --Xyzzyplugh 18:14, 31 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

I want to move en eo: pages about years BC from style "-134" in style "134 BC", because term "-134" is not precize, see 1st century BC. I do not plan transwiki moves. Maksim-e 14:37, 3 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
