History of Punjab

edit

Most Saraikis are Baloch , Khans, Pathans, Syeds, Gailanis, Qureshis or Non Natives of Punjab who immigrated lately in the last 500 years.

The separate Seraiki identity stems from the fact that many Immigrant Baloch and Pukhtoon population who inhabited the lands of Punjab refused to integrate into the culture of Punjab and rather they tried to carve out their own identity different from the people of Punjab. For example Durranis, Rabbanis, Niazis and Tareen tribes were the part of Afghan Empire and later they looted, killed and took away most of the lands from local people of South Punjab. Still Tareens and Durranis are feudals of South Punjab on the same land which they captured and snatched from local population during Durrani empire time. Even tough Ranjit Singh later attacked Multan and Bahawalpur regions and as a result many Afghans ran away and they had taken their lost lands back but still some Afghans remain behind. The reason of the separate identity away from Punjab stems from the racist point of view where Punjabis are considered lower caste converts from Hinduism while Syeds, Gailanis, Rabbanis , Durranis, Niazis Baloch etc consider themselves as a ruler and super class. The same reason led to the strange phenomenon in Mianwali district where Niazi people called themselves Seraiki while they live in North Punjab and their language is pretty closer to Northern Dialects of Punjab but still they are adamant not to call themselves Punjabi at all.

Hello, I'm Smsarmad. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Peshawar, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you.   Please do not add or change content, as you did to Punjabi language, without verifying it by citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. You'll have to provide a proper reference for an edit like that, a reference that can be checked. Just giving a name isn't good enough. Thomas.W talk to me 11:48, 21 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Information is accurate. You can cross verify it from the referenced book or by checking the table word to word accuracy using Google translation.Malignea (talk) 11:55, 21 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
Even if it can be checked it is a fringe theory. Please read WP:FRINGE and note what it says about undue weight and reliable sources. A single book making a fringe claim is not enough to merit inclusion in the article, especially not as prominently as you try to make it. Thomas.W talk to me 12:08, 21 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Please stop adding unsourced content, as you did to Punjabi language and Korean language. This contravenes Wikipedia's policy on verifiability. If you continue to do so, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. The text you are repeatedly adding is WP:FRINGE, unsufficiently sourced and has been given undue weight. Thomas.W talk to me 12:14, 21 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thomas you failed to get the point.I told you to refer to Google translation too, so that your argument of Single book is just denied by cross verification on such famous reliable source and please focus on all other articles on WP which even dont have a single source or a single source.Korean has such basic words common with Punjabi and Urdu. Such research is very positive initiative on isolates like Korean, Japanese and Burushiski Language. Let them be reflected so that further research on isolates could be motivated to solve the mistry of isolates Malignea (talk) 12:27, 21 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
It is not a "famous reliable source". A search on Google on the name "Afzal Ahmed Cheema" returns a Facebook-page (belongning to a person who works in a hospital in Islamabad...) and unsourced mentions as "local linguist" in a number of Punjabi-related articles on Wikipedia. And it takes a lot more than that to be a "famous reliable source" on Wikipedia. Read WP:RS before trying to make edits like that again. Thomas.W talk to me 12:36, 21 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
You again not coming to Google translation point. I do not care if Afzal Ahmed Cheema is popular or not. I have his book if you want it then I can email you the scan pages. You better focus on Validity of that basic words to word matched list on google translation rather then proving Afzal Ahmed Cheema a hospital employee. God helps, Why not you focus on some thing relating to your own profession rather then engaging in to science of linguistics. Malignea (talk) 13:16, 21 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button (  or  ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.
