Hi Malik Awan 1
editWell you posted a Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Hamsaya (→Hamsaya) the article which I had created , I chose not to contest your deletion for the moment because the intent of the article was not to cause personal affront , which in the case it did seem to . In India (my country ) some one or the other always has a personal problem going on some pretext or the other with regard to just about anything . Some Pandeys had a problem with Mangal Pandey the movie , some one has a problem because Richard Gere kisses Shilpa Shetty , some have a a problem with Valentines day , an entire library gets burned because some one doesn’t like a book . Some one or the other is going to be hurt ...so what should we all do ? You have a problem with my post on Hamsaya where I used a sources otherwise extensively used on wikipedia
I thought I would share with you a small portion of a dialogue I earlier had with another Pakistani wikipedian on reading an article I liked very much , my post on his discussion page took place much before the Hamsaya episode and I reproduce my own post here
"Abulfazl Hi
Read your comments and appreciate .
The stereotyping of people is common , Muslim Stereotype in the west , Hindu stereotype in Pakistan , Pakistanis Stereotype in India , Shia Stereotype in Iraq . All Hindus couldn’t be money lenders (even if they wanted to) , and all Punjabi Muslims of Pakistan can not be descended from Arabs or Persians ( even if they wanted to be) .
Nor are all South Asian Muslims descended from , relatives of the Prophet , or the Prophet AND all Hindus are not descended from Shri Ram . Concocted genealogical histories on Wikipedia are rampant. Makes one wonder why?
Stereotypes while on the one hand can be vicious and are deliberately perpetuated by vested interests, often they are also perpetuated by ignorance .
Your comment on the Hindus was a common stereotype we often hear ...it didn’t make me angry .....I find the stereotyping of Hindus in Pakistan as Cleaver, weak , scheming ,money lenders funny . It is steeped in Pakistani self-denial of their own history. Strangely I also find this deliberately aggressive negativity focused from Pakistanis for not only Hindus but also Shias and Ahemdias .
Notwithstanding the above your articles are wonderful! Intothefire 05:43, 20 January 2007 (UTC)"
I reproduced this here because my way of dealing with a post which I thought was not complimentary was quite different from the way you dealt with it .
The recording of the Hamsaya practice is important to me , and for the area of my interest which is the history of the Punjab and NWFP . I have on the other hand no vested interest in causing hurt to any individual. Hopefully we will find a way to meet both ends . Cheers Intothefire 14:04, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
