Map of qualified teams.

edit

A few weeks ago, you gave me advice on how to make a map of qualified teams. However, when I tried to create one, I struggled. Also, I am very bad at computer related stuff. Can you explain the instructions with a bit more detail please? Thanks. ILoveSport2006 (talk) 16:47, 17 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

  1. Download the software https://inkscape.org
  2. Download the map which you need:
    1. Go to World, Europe or an other continent
    2. Click at the map
    3. The url (website address) need to end with .svg
    4. CTRL+S Save the map on your computer
  3. Open Inkscape
  4. Open your downloaded file
  5. The Fill menu needs to be opened (Example)
    1. If it is not opened press Shift+Ctrl+F
  6. Select a country with CTRL+Left mouse click. If you want select an second country press Shift+Ctrl+Left mouse
  7. Go to the Fill window and click at the square which is right from the x like Example.
  8. Now you can chance the colour.
  9. If you are finished save the file with a new name.
  10. Upload the file under https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:UploadWizard
    1. Parameter source should be for example: {{own}} Shape based upon [[:File:Blank map of Europe (without disputed regions).svg]] by [[User:Nordwestern]]
    2. License should be for example: {{Self |1= cc-by-sa-4.0|author=ILoveSport2006 |attribution= Shape based upon [[:File:Blank map of Europe (without disputed regions).svg]] by [[User:Nordwestern]]}}
    3. As an example look at the code of: File:Jersey yellow Epic Series.svg
I hope I was able to help. If you have further questions don't hesitate to ask. 🤾‍♂️ Malo95 (talk) 10:49, 18 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for your help. I am sorry for the delay. I tried for a while before and couldn't work it out. But I finally made a map for the 2025 World Men's Handball Championship. It's not perfect, but at least it sort of does the job for now. Although, I think there's a lot of room for improvement. Do you have any advice on how to improve it in the future? Cat

edit

Hey, just a quick note. The Category:October 2024 sports events in Eggypt has a spelling error (Eggypt). Kante4 (talk) 17:51, 26 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Ok, all settled. :D The other cat should be up for a quick deletion. Kante4 (talk) 17:52, 26 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you. I saw it after I created the cat. 🤾‍♂️ Malo95 (talk) 17:53, 26 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Question

edit

Hi,

What is the intention of this change?

There is no parameter "type" --Sb008 (talk) 12:38, 14 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello @Sb008:
To link the correct national team. With the standard hb the template Template:Hb is used. For men's handball.
All other categories need this parameter.
For example: At 2023 World Women's Handball Championship
| champion_other = {{hbw|FRA}}
| count = 3
| second_other = {{hbw|NOR}}
| third_other = {{hbw|DEN}}
| fourth_other = {{hbw|SWE}}

But if you add | type = hbw
The code could be:
| champion = FRA
| count = 3
| second = NOR
| third = DEN
| fourth = SWE
The same as men's handball.
If you add whb => Wheelchair handball, Bh => Beach handball men, Bhw => Beach handball women.
In conclusion the type parameter is used to use the correct flag icon template. 🤾‍♂️ Malo95 (talk) 13:25, 14 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
I understand what you mean, however what you describe will not work, since the parameter |type= doesn't exist in {{Infobox international handball competition}}. --Sb008 (talk) 14:52, 14 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
It exists. For example:
| winners = {{#if:{{{champion|}}}|{{{{{type|hb}}}|{{{champion|}}}|{{{champion-flagvar|}}}}} | {{#if:{{{champion_other|}}}|{{{champion_other}}} }} }} 🤾‍♂️ Malo95 (talk) 13:26, 16 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
