Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:Happy Egg Co. (USA)

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:Happy Egg Co. (USA), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group or a web site, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing. Additionally, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for your contributions to Wikipedia, you must disclose who is paying you to edit.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In that reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block. To do so, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason for thinking that the block was an error, and publish the page. This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Requested username:

Request reason:

I work on the Happy Egg marketing team. A brand page does not exist for the brand and we wanted to post one for the US company. A page currently exists for its UK counterpart

Decline reason:

You will not be unblocked until: If you have no interest in editing Wikipedia beyond writing about your organisation, then you will not be unblocked. If this is the case, I recommend you consider alternative outlets. Yunshui  09:04, 18 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
You will not be unblocked to continue to promote your company. As well, please replace "Your proposed new username" with a new name (it need not be your own but one that identifies itself as only being use by one person). HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 02:21, 18 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
Please let us know what new user name you would like. I can rename you if you ping me by placing {{ping|Deepfriedokra}} in your request and sign with 4 ~'s. Please read and heed WP:COI and WP:PAID. As HOS4 says, you will need to tell us what pages you would edit with which you have no connection. The subtext of you current unblock request makes it's plain that you are here to promote your company and not to help build the world's largest free-content encyclopedia. If this is the case, you will not be unblocked from editing.-- Deepfriedokra 04:36, 18 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Draft:Happy Egg Co. (USA) has been deleted
Hello, HappyEggUSMktg. Thank you for helping to build Wikipedia-- the world's largest free content encyclopedia. I'm sorry, but  Draft:Happy Egg Co. (USA) has been deleted as meeting WP:CSD#G11. "This applies to pages that are exclusively promotional and would need to be fundamentally rewritten to conform with Wikipedia:NOTFORPROMOTION." These must be rewritten from scratch from "reliable, third party sources unconnected to the subject." See WP:RS.

Wikipedia:Identifying blatant advertising#Typical signs of blatant advertising contains information about content to avoid. For more information on content that may be perceived as promotional, click User:Dlohcierekim/promo. These are just rough guides. Pages can avoid all those pitfalls and still be glaringly obvious ad copy. Sometimes pages meeting WP:CSD#G11 give the appearance of an editor violating Wikipedia:Conflict of interest or WP:PAID. Please read and heed them if they apply to you. Please read Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations.

There is a very common mistake of assuming that the prohibition against promotional editing applies only to promotion for commercial gain, but that is not so. Sometimes creators of promotional content are bewildered that it is considered such. If one has been trained to write or spent some time writing corporate documents or mission/vision statements or anything similar, they may simply be blind to the promotionality. It can be hard to unlearn.

Wikipedia is an encyclopedia-- subjects must meet notability guidelines with reliable sources that are unconnected with the subject and providing verifiable information. That generally means someone unconnected with the subject needs to have written a great deal about the subject. Please see Wikipedia:Citing sources . Template:cite has templates you can use in citing your sources. Place the template {{references}} at the bottom of the page, and references cited in the text will appear there.

The new user tutorial can help you avoid future problems. -- Deepfriedokra 04:19, 18 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

I understand the policy and will contribute to existing articles and content on Wikipedia if I am unblocked I will change my username to represent that I am one individual. How can I change the name?

Accept reason:

If you have a new username in mind, please tell what it is and I or another renamer can change it. You can just post it as a standard, unformatted comment like this comment I am making, as only one open unblock request is needed. 331dot (talk) 19:20, 18 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hi 331dot and Deepfriedokra – could my new username be mansionmeals?
In addition, I would like to apologize for violating WP policy by not disclosing my connected contributor status and for contributing a company-related article directly to WP rather than through AFC. I was unaware of WP policy in this regard but have spent the last day thoroughly reading WP:RS, WP:COI, and WP:PAID and have also done additional, offline, reading about WP policies and guidelines.
If unblocked I would significantly rewrite the article by sourcing it to RS and then eventually submit it to WP:AFC. My proposed article does, I believe, meet WP:N but – in addition to including promotional language – I neglected to include any of the RS to which I could source it. If this article is accepted I would, thereafter, limit my activity on it to making suggestions on the article’s Talk page rather than direct edits to the article itself.
In addition, I have a personal interest in fitness methods. I frequently read WP for fitness related articles and have noticed a number of gnomish edits I might be able to make that could be useful.
Finally, if unblocked, my fist action would be to post a connected contributor disclosure to my userpage.
Thank you for your consideration. HappyEggUSMktg (talk) 15:55, 20 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

The Happy Egg Company

edit

Thanks for the tip. I looked it over, and at first glance, it is not as gushingly promotional as the deleted content. It needs some work, but it is not unambiguously promotional. At first glance, it is significantly covered with content cited from reliable sources that are unconnected with the subject and have a reputation for fact checking." If it is the work of an undeclared paid editor, they have managed to create a page that is not obviously promotional. -- Deepfriedokra 04:31, 18 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
