Jacynthe Cauvier , often called 'Jacy' or 'Jaycee', (born 22 September 1983) is a Canadian multilingual actress, entrepreneur, freelance translator and anthropologist, originally from the province of Quebec. She is fluent in French, English and Mandarin-Chinese, intermediate in Spanish, and she possesses basic knowledge of Hindi, Punjabi, Russian and Malayalam.
Early life
editThe eldest of two half-sisters and one half-brother, Jacynthe was raised in Quebec city, Quebec, Canada by her single mother. Her father's family is of French descent and Native Mi'kmaq ancestry, and her mother is of French descent. After high school, she attended college and majored in tourism management and events planning, before entering into a 8 years long journey in China. She then decided to pursue her studies in international development & globalization at the University of Ottawa, Canada, before going to India as part of an exchange program in Conflict Transformation and Peace Building (CTPB 2016-2017), a one year master's level diploma at Delhi University, offered at Lady Shri Ram College for Women. During her studies in international development, she discovered a growing interest for food security, organic farming and conflict transformation.
Career
editIn China, she worked as the director of an international inbound travel agency, taught English and French evenings and weekends to pay off her student loans faster, while learning Mandarin language with local friends. She picked up the language quickly and was soon on local tv stations, invited as anchor for local cultural events, and accepted translation and interpretation works for various business people visiting China.
On Indian television, she played on Zeetv twice, including the recent web-series The Shuttlecock Murder on Zee5 online: (date of release: 10th December 2019).
On Chinese television, she hosted in Mandarin for more than one and half year (2008-2010) a travel TV show called "Hainan Paradise Island" (天堂海南岛:Tiāntáng hǎinán dǎo) on “Haikou Municipal TV Station” (海口市电视台: Hǎikǒu shì diànshìtái); she also hosted a travel tv show and was a guest for numerous variety shows (2010-2012) on "Henan Provincial Satellite TV Station" (河南卫视:Hénán wèishì).
In Pollywood, Jacynthe portrayed 'Annie', the supportive and understanding wife of an indo-canadian punjabi man 'Navi' ( Gurpreet Ghuggi ), both living in Canada with their son 'Harry' ( Ansh Tejpal ). Following some challenging events, they decided to move to Punjab in India, in the film Dastaan-E-Sirhind (release due in April 2020). Dastaan-E-Sirhind [1][2] is a film based on the values of family and on spiritual beliefs, and which was Jacynthe's first film as a lead actress. Jacy had also appeared in few Bollywood movies : P se pyaar, F se farar (2019) a film by Director Manoj Tiwari ; October (2018); Aiyaary (2018); Nannu ki Jannu (2018); in a short film Bollywood-Australia collaboration with The Legend Dharmendra, and the Australian actor Travis Jeffery (not released yet); and in the album song by Shankar Mahadevan in Vaadi-e-Kashmir: Dil Se Kashmir ft. Amitabh Bacchan. She was on various tv ads and promotional video materials including: Quark 360 VR Camera; Holoboard; Britannia Industries Ltd cookies; Pro Kabbadi Finale (2017); Chada Jewelry; and few others.
