Puerto Rico Olympic Medallists

Hi, I don't understand the change from notes (which were only for the medallist representing USA that had Puerto Rican heritage) to these asterisks (for everybody). A couple of questions on Trinidad Swilling

Hi Tony. I have a couple of questions about the Early years section. The second paragraph says:

Arizona belonged to Mexico until the end of the Mexican-American War in 1848. The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo and the 1853 Gadsden Purchase clearly defined the U.S-Mexican boundaries and the Mexicans living within the boundaries of the new United States territory became American citizens.

How does this relate to Trinidad Swilling? She was born in 1849 - but from the article it does not appear that her birthplace was in the are of the Gadsden Purchase. Was it? If not, how does this relate to Trinidad Swilling's early years? Does it belong in another section? or in a different article? — ERcheck (talk) 17:00, 4 March 2018 (UTC)

Carlos Betances Ramírez - see refs

Hi Tony. See Carlos Betances Ramírez. I made a change in formatting the references. I put them all in the reflist using the "refs=" formatting. For me, it seems to be easier to easily see all the references when editing and not have all of the details of the references crowding the article text.

What do you think?

Looking at references in Discography section, it appears that the The Billboard review here — is for two sides of a record, and it is the "I'll Never Love Again" side that Ms. Miranda is featured on, not the "Tia Juana". John (Jack) Swilling Rock House

Hi ... You recently added the John (Jack) Swilling Rock House to National Register of Historic Places listings in Yavapai County, Arizona, but I don't find it listed in the NRHP database. I undid your edit but am happy to restore it if you can give me a source that indicates it's currently listed. If this is your source, it's unreliable because it doesn't distinguish between sites that are currently listed from those that have been removed or were approved by the NPS but never officially listed for any number of reasons (e.g., owner objection is a pretty common one). That site is just a dump of everything in the NPS aw database without regard to the status of the nomination. If you find evidence that this site was once listed but has been removed, it may be included in the "Former listings" table at the bottom of the page. Litchfield Cemetery

Hi, i noticed new disambiguation page Litchfield Cemetery and I edited it towards bringing it into compliance with disambiguation page rules. However, it only has one entry having a wikipedia article, so it is disputable whether the disambigation page is necessary. Do you intend to create articles soon about any of the other items? There is a rule that there needs to be one (and only one) bluelink for each item. For items where the main link is red, by MOS:DABRL there should be a supporting bluelink showing the redlink in context elsewhere, i.e. establishing/asserting that there should be coverage of the item eventually. --Doncram (talk) 22:36, 4 May 2018 (UTC)

• There is always the possibility that someone else may want to write an article about one of the other Litchfield Cemeteries, since there are quite a few, however if you believe that redirect would be better suited in this case, then I no objection and trust your judgement. Hassayampa Bridge

Hi, in general I would be very glad to have your help in developing coverage about NRHP-listed and other bona fide historic sites in Arizona. Yesterday I created Hassayampa River Bridge, addressing what was a redlink in National Register of Historic Places listings in Maricopa County, Arizona, and used a photo you had supplied which was in the list-article. Based on comparison to photos in Historic American Engineering Record, and a statement that the bridge was slated for demolition in 1983, I was concluding that the photo was not of the 1929 bridge but rather of a 1983 replacement. Today I find that there was already a Hassayampa Bridge article created in 2016, and I will merge the newer article's material to there, per my usual practice for when there are duplicate articles, which happens (like when there is a new article about historic sites in Jerome, and there is a longer-existing Jerome Historic District article).

About the Hassayampa Bridge, it was your December 2017 edit which added that "The historic Hassayampa Bridge bridge was modified and repaired in 1993." Do you have any source for that? It seems more likely to me that the 1929 bridge was demolished entirely and replaced, yet the bridge remained NRHP-listed because no one noticed it should have been delisted, which happens sometimes (for 7 other examples in Arizona, see wp:NRIS info issues AZ). But I don't know for sure that some portion of the 1929 bridge was retained somehow, though the supporting pillars and the sides seem entirely different, at least. I just tend to believe there is no value provided by retaining a small amount of old material for the sake of history (and there apparently are no historic markers/interpretive signs pointing out what historical was saved, or you would have photographed them I surmise), and it is cheaper to tear something down entirely and built anew, if you have to go that far already.

Also your edit added three photos with two asserting that they were of the "modified historic" bridge, and one interesting one asserting that a pile of rubble was "Remains of some of the original sections which were removed from the Hassayampa Bridge". I wonder if you had a conversation with someone who knew, or what is your source for the latter. Can you share, please? --Doncram (talk) 14:10, 5 May 2018 (UTC)

• I went to the site where the bridge is located in 2015 and took the photos. Now, I agree with you that it would have been much cheaper to demolish the old bridge and rebuilt a new one, which may have been the case. I can't find now a specific source as to what was the exact fate of the bridge, with the exception that this source states that it was replaced in 1993. [2]. The thing is that I do not remember any media mention of the bridge being demolished in 1993. The rubble that is pictured is no longer there either. However, when the base of the bridge in the photos (1929 and 2015) are compared there are no similarities. Now, if a new bridge replaced the old bridge then I believe that The NRHP should be notified and have it delisted. My age and health issues are getting the better part of me, but I would be honored to help you in any way that I can with NRHP-listed and other bona fide historic sites in Arizona. On another note, Captaincy General of Puerto Rico briefly mentions the colonial Spanish politico/military "rank" of Teniente a Guerra, yet the more complete article Military history of Puerto Rico does not even mention it. Litchfield Cemetery

Hi Marine 69-71, I saw that you created Litchfield Cemetery as a redirect and then changed it to a disambiguation page. However, all of the links but one are red with no associated blue link, and I can't find any mention (in Wikipedia) of the other cemeteries. Wouldn't it be better to return the page to a redirect? Please read WP:USERNOCAT: user sandbox pages are not allowed to be filed in articlespace categories. This is not up to your personal discretion; it is strictly verboten, and there are never any valid exceptions for any reason. Your freedom to do what you want on your userpage comes with limits, such as that you're not allowed to let the page clutter up mainspace by adding it to article categories, and you're not allowed to ban other users on cleanup duty from editing the page to remove the categories. • I have written and worked on 739 articles, which included the corresponding categories, in my workshop pages before posting them in the mainspace. I write in my "workshop" because there I can work without any interference. This is the first time in my 14 years in Wikipedia that someone has complained about it and even removed them, a thing which I would have done myself. No big deal, let's let it go at that. (talk page stalker)@Bearcat: I think there's a simple compromise: commenting out the categories in question (this is one of the options mentioned in USERNOCAT). Tony, I was bold and went in to make the edit, but I understand it's your userspace and do not intend to edit it again. It's technically correct that mainspace categories, are, well, for the mainspace, so I think commenting them out instead of removing them will solve the problem of accidental page categorization while preserving useful information. Better than commenting them out might be to use a leading colon. This at least links to the category, without placing the page into that category, against USERNOCAT.

Phi Sigma Alpha

Hi Tony, its been a while since we last spoke. I haven't been very active the last few years but I check in regularly on my contributions to see if they are ok. Sorry to bother you but since I haven't been active in the wiki community I don't know who ask for guidance. As you know the article I have most contributed to is Phi Sigma Alpha, in the last few years the part I have added the most content to is the Notable Members List. Using other Fraternity Notable Members List for guidance not all inclusions need have a Wikipedia article, as long as they are notable. Most of the names have been there for years, but in the last few days an editor has been erasing and re-erasing all persons on the list that don't have an article (and according to him then not notable because of lack of said article) would you mind taking a look? regards, El Johnson (talk) 20:27, 6 November 2018 (UTC)

• Hey, long time no see. Glad to hear from you. You are absolutely right. Just because a person does not have an article does not mean that that individual is not notable. There are hundreds of people out there who are notable and do not have an article in Wikipedia.
