1977 Atocha massacre

Hi - I've been working on this article over the last week to get it in shape for a GA nomination. I've still got a little to do on the Legacy section, but would appreciate your comments, even just a quick reaction if that's all you have time for. Thanks and regards, --Goldsztajn (talk) 01:26, 4 May 2020 (UTC)

Goldsztajn, I'm sorry I didn't reply this back in the day. Anyway, I see it got to GA finally. Good job! --MarioGom (talk) 14:43, 2 January 2021 (UTC)
No problems! Btw I have a different question regarding the membership card system for WikiProject Socialism, I'm trying to implement the same system for the Organised Labour project, can you assist a little? In solidarity, --Goldsztajn (talk) 14:49, 2 January 2021 (UTC)
Goldsztajn, sure! That membership system is a component of Wikipedia:WikiProject X (WPX). Unfortunately, WPX is defunct, but its components just work and there is a bot that uses some of these components to generate useful pages, like membership pages or discussion feeds (example). I added some documentation at Wikipedia:WikiProject X/WPX UI about how to use it:
  • If you want the membership system, you need to setup the formWizard gadget (instructions). I think an entry at wikiprojects.json is also required for the bot updates (instructions, you can use WP:SOCIALISM entry for good defaults).
  • Regarding other components, I'd recommend to not use {{Load WikiProject Modules}} and use the individual components directly instead. For the membership box, its {{WPX member box}}.
  • Note that current members are not migrated automatically to membership cards. When I migrated the Socialism project, I manually created the WikiProject cards for every previous member (except blocked accounts). Ping me if you need help with that.
Best, --MarioGom (talk) 15:03, 2 January 2021 (UTC)
Thanks! I've been tinkering around with this for quite awhile now (basically following the "trail of crumbs" from your efforts to update the Socialism project), but the membership system had flummoxed me somewhat, but these links look to help a lot. Will come back to you with questions. Kind regards, --Goldsztajn (talk) 15:15, 2 January 2021 (UTC)
OK, I'm going to go ahead and create a membership card for you.... I'll go ahead and start migrating the members - I feel it might be appropriate to post a message to each member that I'll be creating member cards for them, yes?--Goldsztajn (talk) 15:43, 2 January 2021 (UTC)
Goldsztajn, yeah, I guess it makes sense to notify people. After all, it's an edit in their user space. MarioGom (talk) 16:11, 2 January 2021 (UTC)

Worldometers

Your input would be helpful at Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard/Archive 299#Worldometers.info, --Guy Macon (talk) 19:10, 21 June 2020 (UTC)

Guy Macon, thanks for the heads up! Unfortunately, I've been off Wikipedia and missed the opportunity to chip in. Ironically, I don't consider the CNN report too reliable either, since quotes are clearly selected to support a predetermined point ;-) But I still think that Worldometer should not be considered a reliable source. --MarioGom (talk) 16:58, 3 August 2020 (UTC)

ArbCom 2020 Elections voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2020 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 7 December 2020. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2020 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 02:53, 24 November 2020 (UTC)

Bio update

Hi MarioGom, I appreciate your touching base about how to propose edits to my bio page Andrew T. Levin. I've followed your suggestion and added a specific set of edits on my Talk page; it will be great if you can take a look and let me know if any additional information would be helpful. Many thanks! Andrew.T.Levin (talk) 03:02, 31 December 2020 (UTC)

1/9/2021: It makes sense that a c.v. cannot serve as a source for a wiki page. Therefore, would you please modify those three references on my bio page Andrew T. Levin as follows:

Appian Corporation

Hello, thank you for your correction to my COI disclosure at Talk:Appian Corporation. I've added details to the template to indicate that I am being paid by Appian. I also noticed you added back the {{Cleanup-PR}} flag with the note "partial revert of UPE". Can you explain this further? The page had recently been cleaned up in response to the flag that was added a couple of months back. You can see more details on the talk page. Can you elaborate on the part(s) of the article you are mainly concerned about in relation to the flag? And where your concerns might be with UPE? I'm happy to help cleanup language or content that is still concerning. Thank you! JMGAppian (talk) 20:06, 4 January 2021 (UTC)

JMGAppian, my partial revert was a drive-by while cleaning up the mess left behind by an undisclosed paid editors operation. It turns out that one of your previous requests was fulfilled by Snappytimez, an account part of a large undisclosed paid editing operation. That user, of course, was not entitled to remove any tag and any of their edits can be reverted on sight. I think editors working on edit requests should answer your open one at some point. --MarioGom (talk) 20:18, 4 January 2021 (UTC)
Thanks for the quick response. That's both interesting and unfortunate. I took a look at the history, and I do see that Snappytimez had implemented edits on one occasion. However, they did not remove any flags and the {{Cleanup-PR}} flag was added two months after the edit by the undisclosed editor you've mentioned. Would you mind taking another look to see if you think the flag is still needed? As you can understand, the talk page edit requests take many months to get any response, and there are no currently open requests since all the requests had already been addressed. Thank you. JMGAppian (talk) 21:47, 4 January 2021 (UTC)
JMGAppian, the tag was removed by an anonymous user. I would rather check with DGG who added it in the first place or Z1720 who implemented changes recently. --MarioGom (talk) 22:53, 4 January 2021 (UTC)
I did not remove the tag when I fulfilled the edit request because I could not do a thorough clean-up. I'd like an uninvolved editor to examine the text and remove the banner if applicable. JMGAppian You might need to reopen the request edit template to find an uninvolved editor. Unfortunately, it might take many months to be assessed because of the template's severe back long, as noted in the template banner. Please post below and ping me if you have any questions. Z1720 (talk) 00:56, 5 January 2021 (UTC)
JMGAppian, is the version at User:JMGAppian/sandbox the current preferred version, or as that been superseded? If not, could you please prepare what you think it should be in your sandbox, and let me know. I shall then take a look in a few days. In general, I prefer to work by rewriting a complete version in the way I think best, rather than making changes bit by bit. At least for me, promotionalism & sourcing & notability can best be evaluated in the context of the whole article . I know "request edit" doesn't work that way, and that's the main reason I do not work there; its virtue is that it lets the slightly less experienced editors help also. The results of the process are usually good, but the complexity of trying to do it the official way is why it keeps falling behind; I'm trying to think of a systematic way to propose an alternative. DGG ( talk ) 04:45, 5 January 2021 (UTC)
MarioGom, Z1720, and DGG Thank you, I really appreciate all of your responses here. DGG, the current version at User:JMGAppian/sandbox is the preferred version. I had overlooked that you previously removed the "Top Workplace" line from the page, so I've just updated it to reflect that as well. And I completely understand wanting to avoid the bit by bit editing which seems to impact much of Wikipedia. For this version, I had reviewed the sources on the page and removed any that I felt were not strong enough / too promotional to include. There are still a decent number of sources because the page had previously been flagged as needing more sources, so I was going for the middle ground. If you have any questions or concerns, I'm more than happy to work with you to address any issues so please don't hesitate to reach out. Thank you! JMGAppian (talk) 18:47, 5 January 2021 (UTC)

For some reason, the chart in Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red/Metrics is no longer displaying correctly. It was OK two or three days ago but has suddenly stopped functioning. It that something you can look at?--Ipigott (talk) 11:38, 10 January 2021 (UTC)
