Managing a conflict of interest

Hello, Mark Easton. Username concerns

Wikipedia is always concerned to protect the reputation of real people, especially those in the public eye. Your editing actions in twice blanking referenced content at the page for the well-respected BBC journalist Mark Easton seem to me highly unlikely to be the actions of that person, as it would expose Mr Easton to accusations of extraordinary unprofessionalism.

We would normally wish all concerns over content to be discused on the Talk Page of the relevant article, and to ensure it respects our policies on the Biographies of Living People

We also have a policy on Wikipedia editors who adopt the names of real people, which you can read at WP:REALNAME. This involves temporarily blocking that account out of respect for the named person, then asking that person to send an email from an official account, confirming their identity. This then allows the unblocking of that account. Whether you are genuinely Mr Easton, or not, I'm sure you will understand why an administrator will shortly be taking action on this account. This account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because the username, Mark Easton, matches the name of a well-known, living person.

Thank you for taking the trouble to demonstrate that this account is genuinely owned by you, Mr. Easton. We do take information - and indeed misinformation - on Wikipedia seriously, and I appreciate your explanation of your concerns on the article about you.
