Visual Editor - for inline citation

edit

Hi Mark - greetings. Pls see Wikipedia:VisualEditor and pls enable it for it is cause link rot when providing source. All you have to do is to paste the URL and it will fill up the rest for you. Manual option is also available in Visual editor. There are a lot of things you can do with Visual Editor however, the software does have bugs on other features at the moment, but for inline citation it works fine. Cheers. Independent, reliable sources

edit

Hi Mark, For an article to be notable, it needs to pass the notability guidelines and the content needs to be supported by independent reliable sources in significant coverage. Sport databases (tapology and sherdog), home page, user generated sites, interviews, press releases are considered not independent /reliable. Extreme Fighting Championship article had been recreated many times and was nominated for deletion due not meeting notability guidelines - see HERE.The current article is borderline passing the notability guidelines, that was the reasons I tried to add sources into the articles. Some of the source I added are about fighters signed by UFC that do not indicated the fighters fought for EFC. You have added some primary source (not independent) and that would not help the articles. Please sub the sources with independent reliable sources such as from newspapers or independent mma media sites to avoid the article nominated for deletion. You would find better and more sources than I as I believe there would be more source in South Africa then the other part of the world. Let me know and clarification is needed. Thanks. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 16:55, 25 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

Note: sources can be in any languages. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 17:06, 25 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
pls read the edit summary I just made and you have been informed many times. I am trying to help you here.08:03, 27 November 2019 (UTC)
CASSIOPEIA. Thanks again for your advice here. I will see what I can find in this respect. I misunderstood this in relation to Tapology and Sherdog in particular considering that Wikipedia seems to widely use Sherdog as a reference for fighter history. I understand you now, and will source from other sites and see what I can find.
Mark, The article section of Sherdog can be used - that would considered secondary source, that would be the same as ESPN MMA articles; however, the databases from Sherdog/Tapology/ESPN/etc that would considered just a databases. If you would find any article mentioning the are the champion of ECF or the fight result of the championship, then add them in. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 08:56, 27 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hi JMHamo. Thank you for the message. I will resubmit this article when he completes his third UFC fight.

The article should be renamed?

edit

I think Extreme Fighting Championship (EFC) should be renamed Extreme Fighting Championship what do you think? Dwanyewest (talk) 09:38, 30 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi Dwanyewest. Personally I would prefer keeping "EFC" in the article title because most MMA enthusiasts here in Africa know the organisation simply as the EFC rather than the Extreme Fighting Championship. I believe this also applies to MMA enthusiasts worldwide. Leaving "EFC" in the title allows people to faster realise that this is the organisation they are looking to read about. What are your thoughts on this?

Hi Mark from Johannesburg as a compromise maybe create Extreme Fighting Championship as a redirect to this article. What do you think? Dwanyewest (talk) 12:06, 7 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
