greetings, Marquis, and welcome to Wikipedia! re "chainmail", I wouldn't go as far as saying the term is "incorrect". it is, rather, "hypercharacterized". Otherwise, you would also have to say that e.g. titmouse is an incorrect name for the bird. Chainmail is just the common term that was established once simple mail had become ambiguous (and hypercorrect french maille seems to be the mark of the renaissance fair experts showing that they know better than the general public :). Re the longsword terminology, I am also uncertain whether we shouldn't just use modernized German terms (Zwerhau), since the original readings are, well, orthographically unstable. Note however, that the "first" mention of the hau / haw is spelled twerhaw as well as czwer. That's just details, of course. cheers, dab (ᛏ) 12:02, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)
