Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, the username you have chosen seems to imply that you are editing on behalf of a group, company or website.

There are two issues with this:

  1. You may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, you must exercise great caution when editing on topics related to your organization.
  2. Your account cannot represent a group of people. You may wish to create a new account with a username that represents only you. Alternatively, you may consider changing your username to avoid giving the impression that your personal account is being used for promotional purposes.

Regardless of whether you change your name or create a new account, you are not exempted from the guideline to avoid editing where you have a conflict of interest. For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. The article in question is Charles T. Mathews. Thank you. -- Rrburke (talk) 13:32, 24 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Charles T. Mathews

edit

The article Charles T. Mathews has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Entire page appears to be original research. The only reference cited is to a page that makes no direct mention of the central topic of the article. (User name of article's sole editor suggests WP:COI)

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Nat Gertler (talk) 02:35, 29 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

I am confused as to why the page "Charles T Mathews" was deleted. Everytime I attempt to cite references or add photos, Wiki crashes on my computer. It has also been a complicated process because I am not too savvy with adding material to Wiki and the directions are sometimes confusing. I understand the need for references, but I would like to note that I am the historian for the Mathews Family at the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum, where Mr. Mathews once lived; therefore, I am 100% sure that the information I supplied is accurate. Could you please explain the process I should follow to get the page back up?

Thank you,

This account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because your username, Mathewsmansion, does not meet our username policy.

Your username is the only reason for this block. You are welcome to choose a new username (see below).

A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive, or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account.

You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines. Alternatively, if you have already made edits and you wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:

  1. Adding {{unblock-un|your new username here}} on your user talk page. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked, as you can usually still edit your own talk page. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "E-mail this user" on their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
  3. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. The account is created upon acceptance, thus do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
If you feel that you were blocked in error, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|Your reason here}}, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. -- Cirt (talk) 11:05, 4 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
