Categories

edit

Hello. I've been doing a little bit of new page patrolling over the last couple of days and I see that you've created a whole bunch of short articles on historical dramas. Please note that you haven't categorized the articles. This is not the end of the world since the articles will eventually show up at Wikipedia:WikiProject Categories/uncategorized where someone will do it for you. Nevertheless, it would be great if you can do this yourself while creating the articles. If you want some examples, you can check out what I added for Kampf um Rom I, Augustine of Hippo (film), L' Assedio di Siracusa (film) and many others. And do let me know if you need further help with all this. Cheers, Pichpich (talk) 16:49, 15 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Minor edit flag

edit

Also, please note that the minor edit flag is never to be used when adding or deleting content. It is only for fixing typos, grammatical corrections, or moving content without changing it. A campaign to add Netflix links using the minor flag could easily be seen be some editors as an attempt to hide spamming.

Beware of Potential Hoaxes

edit

Hello, I do not know who you are. However, please could I urge you to be wary of the possibility of scams and hoaxes, and of the possibility perpetuating them. Because one day if you have any shred of decency you may regret such actions. I am sure you already know that the film industry is full of a variety of people, some of whom are not trustworthy. However, do take care to consider there could be several sides to a story. Please be very careful. Skekayuk (talk) 15:31, 13 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Another editor e-mailed me asking that an administrator look into this user's edits, as this user may be using Wikipedia to perpetuated scams or hoaxes. But I am not an administrator. Would an administrator please investigate? -- Ssilvers (talk) 15:44, 13 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Suspected Hoax Activiety

edit

I think there is a possibility that this user may be planting information in wikipedia either to try and gather “investment” for the “film” projected referred to as Katherine Of Alexandria, or to promote the “acting courses” on the http://www.actingcourses.net/ website. With regards to the “film” there have been concerned about it, see: http://www.bectu.org.uk/news/853 . Which suggests that the film might not meet wikipedia’s “notability” criterion (or that it could be a hoax). With regards to the ‘acting courses’ described on the website. If you read through the descriptions of scams affecting the entertainment industry, as detailed on Clive Hurst’s website: http://www.anactor.net/ , a detailed reading of the ‘http://www.actingcourses.net/ ‘website, in particular it’s FAQ seems similar in tone to that of some of the dubious agencies and such like outlined on Clive Hurst’s website. Two wikipedia editors left messages on the user's 'talk page' (above_ over a week ago, but the user does not appear to have entered into any dialog on this matter. Skekayuk (talk) 11:11, 22 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

I'm not affiliated with that or any other film, and I've actually never heard of that acting-courses website before. I'm just a fan of historical drama films, and I add frequently to Wikipedia pages regarding such films. This was a film I found on IMDb, which currently lists its status as "filming," and I got all of my information regarding casting and soforth from that site. I assumed this was reputable, but if anyone has reason to believe there's anything dubious about this information, I would rather remove the page entirely than be involved in promoting a scam.

Matthew Dillenburg (talk) 17:27, 22 November 2010 (UTC)

Hello Matthew Dillenburg, having read the response you posted on my talk page (which I've included above), I accept that you didn't mean to spread dubious information, and I withdraw my accusations about planting dubious information. Skekayuk (talk) 23:07, 22 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
Also please email me off-wiki at Skekayuk@hotmail.com because I would like to explain a little more to you why I somewhat over-reacted. Skekayuk (talk) 23:07, 22 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Katherine of Alexandria

edit

The article Katherine of Alexandria has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Although the movie is in production, the article should be incubated until a closer release date because I cannot find much coverage about it as of right now.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
