Learn what Wikipedians do and discover how to help. Has a list of maintenance tasks you can do.
- Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
- It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first—it's fine to edit using common sense.
- If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue on the article's talk page. Be civil, and reach a consensus there before restoring the edit.
- Always use edit summaries to explain your changes.
- When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source. Do not use AI-generated text.
- If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.
- Have fun! Your presence in the Wikipedia community is welcome.

Thomas Greenall
[edit]I removed the material that you added to Weaverham. (Don't worry: it's still in the article history and can be retrieved there if you need it.) In general, people who are added to the "notable" section of an article need to have their own standalone article first. The links in the welcome message above can help you get an idea of how Wikipedia works, how to add citations to articles, and where to go for assistance. Joyous! Noise! 17:25, 12 August 2026 (UTC)
- Thomas greenhall of the very famous brewing company almost definitely has a page without even looking he is one of the country's most famous how can this be missed
- No wonder none of weaverhams notable people are added if you falsely make it this hard give no clear to add do abcd
- this is way over complicated I will just host my own webpage with everything on thats all verified
- I have done more research on the area of weaverham than any person to date and I wont be fighting every last thing that will need adding facts Matthew j Howman (talk) 17:31, 12 August 2026 (UTC)
- please explain why others are allowed to add people and information of them without an apparent page etc
- this relates to Thomas greenhall of greenhalls brewery est st Helens
- See here Matthew j Howman (talk) 17:36, 12 August 2026 (UTC)
- you are applying policy backwards
- See what ai stated about this vs wiki rules Matthew j Howman (talk) 17:41, 12 August 2026 (UTC)
- I was unable to find a page for this person. If you can (perhaps I was misspelling the name), could you please add a link to it here? You can link Wikipedia articles by adding double square-brackets around the name. When I search for Thomas Greenhall, the link comes up red, indicating that Wikipedia doesn't have an article. Some internet searching suggests that you are actually referring to Thomas Greenall. While there is an article by that name here, it doesn't seem to be the same person that you're referring to. - an I wont be there is no need to
- Read the wiki terms correctly you will see
- Hint bellow
- Request for second opinion on listing Thomas Greenhall
- An editor has removed the entry for Thomas Greenhall, stating that a standalone Wikipedia article must exist BEFORE he can be listed in the "Notable people" section.
- This appears to conflict with Wikipedia guidelines:
-
- - WP:NLIST — People may be listed in a list or "Notable people" section without having their own article, provided they meet general notability and have a connection to the locality.
-
- - WP:PEOPLE — Listing in a town's notable people section is standard practice as the FIRST step; a standalone article is not a prerequisite.
- Sources provided: Cheshire Tithe Maps, local historical records, brewery provenance. The entry is properly sourced and connected to the village.
- Could a different reviewer please assess whether this removal was in line with policy? Thank you. Matthew j Howman (talk) 18:09, 12 August 2026 (UTC)
- Ok, if you feel that he's notable enough, feel free to return the information. Please check your spelling, though. I think it's "Greenall," not "Greenhall." Joyous! Noise! 18:43, 12 August 2026 (UTC)
- regardless policy states they dont need to be known on a page or anything like this
- They can for example not be in records but found in deep research and important to one area only
- Having a look you have been doing this since 2004 and cant get the basics correct
- I will be asking for a flag to be raised on this as your far to keen to rule out despite more than enough information to be ruled out
- I will also be requesting you do not have any oversight into the area
- Lots of records are known to be destroyed I need to work around this and show how its all been proven
- This would be impossible with your over the top input
- I have the entrie history of the viallge to add from the 800ad era that can be proven this level of scrutiny would make this impossible
- No hard feeling but a standard asseser wont do for this
- And yes it is greenall indeed I did not spot this spelling mistake created by autocorrect as I know the whole story so well its from memory with proof of owned lands via tithe maps Matthew j Howman (talk) 20:01, 12 August 2026 (UTC)
