Welcome!

Hello, MattinaMorgan, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay.

There's a page about creating articles you may want to read called Your first article. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on this page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Meetups

edit

I have moved to Portland, no longer in Seattle. Try Dennis Bratland or one of the other users listed at Wikipedia:Meetup/Seattle/archive. I was never an organizer, just an attendee, in any case. Yworo (talk) 22:46, 23 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Alright, thank you for letting me know, in any case! MattinaMorgan (talk) 23:05, 23 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Planning a Seattle meetup

edit

Hi Mattina. Just got your message, why don't you look at Wikipedia:Meetup/Seattle for former meetups and participants? I've just been to three-four of the U-District meetups so I'm not the most active local Wikipedian. I'll think for a minute about things that went well and not-well and reply again to this thread. — Brianhe (talk) 22:45, 23 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Other editors notified of the possible UPS Seattle meetup encouraged to post below.

  • OK, off the top of my head, things to repeat were, a central(ish) location near public transit and freeways, food able to be procured, a definite leader who creates advance notice of location and a set start time and end time posted here using the geonotice location-based notification facility, open-mindedness to meet people of different cultural/age/ethnic groups. Things to avoid, inability to locate the Wikipedians, drop-outs leaving just one attendee, unclear meeting purpose. I suspect you'll get more replies here as people get your invitation. — Brianhe (talk) 23:04, 23 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
Thank you! I'll try keep this in mind while setting up the event. MattinaMorgan (talk) 23:41, 23 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia Loves Libraries

edit

Hi, if you are interested in WLL be sure to look at https://outreach.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia Loves Libraries.

What is the main interest that you have in a WLL event? How you organize the event will vary depending on who is invited and what their interests are. --Pine 06:06, 24 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Adding a picture

edit

I'm trying to update my university's page because the link to our seal is broken (which, frankly, is embarassing). However I have no idea how to do this.

  • Several weeks ago, an IP editor changed the link to the image in the infobox without explanation, to an image that does not exist on Wikipedia. As a result, the old image was deleted under fair use policy as it was no longer in use. I have restored the old link, and undeleted the image. Let me know if you need any more help with this.
