Gene-centric view and units of selection

edit

Hi,

Thanks for the note on my talk page. I agree with you on all points.

On a related note, I don't know if you read EvolDir, but you may be interested in my population genetics podcast: [1] (EvolDir is where I've been announcing new episodes). - Samsara 12:44, 10 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

If you look at this page and search for "Samsara" (it's on Ctrl+F in Firefox), you'll find the changes that I made and Duncharris reverted. Everything else is fine. Alternatively, you can look at this which shows that only the links in W. D. Hamilton and Vicar of Bray need changing, at the time of this writing. Many thanks, and good to work with you! - Samsara contrib talk 13:58, 18 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Phytofruit and Georg Forster

edit

Your nomination for AfD was appropriate, and it sure looked like a consensus to delete to me; it should be re-AfD'ed at some point. BTW, I once wrote a paper on a rather technical aspect of Georg Forster's scientific work, and was quite surprised to find out that he was a major figure in the Aufklarung.--MayerG 17:18, 28 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

I agree it should have been deleted, but is not worth fighting over right now (in two months the author will probably have gone away and it can be deleted). About Georg Forster: It would be great if you could check what the article says about his scientific work. Alx-pl and I were mostly busy translating the German article and enhancing the Mainz Republic stuff and trying to NPOVify the anti-Polonism section, which are pretty well-sourced by now, but can't say all that much about his reputation in science other than what the German article said. I would appreciate it if you could comment on that a bit, or even enhance the article. Happy editing, Kusma (討論) 23:23, 31 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

New round of CfR nominations

Guess you must be interested to say something regarding the new round of CfR nominations regarding the spelling of Macau/o. — Instantnood 18:09, 2 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Macao/Macau

edit

If there's a case to be made about the "common name in English" of this place, it should surely be done in a renaming request of the main article itself (and perhaps there is, my only "dog" is consistency). Arguing for Instantnood's supposed position, in having some categories named one thing, and some named another -- expressly contrary to the naming conventions -- surely isn't a good idea either way. Alai 05:10, 5 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Glad you agree. If you want to put in a request for a move on Macau to Macao, I'll be glad to look at the evidence for that being the more prevalent spelling. Then we get to move all the categoies back, woo-woo. Alai 17:30, 6 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Good catch on Penélope Cruz

Your edit and its subsequent reversed edit caught my attention to other errors in that paragraph. Please see her article and talkpage. Ronbo76 02:13, 25 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Algerian War

edit

Hello! I noticed your word concerning the misuse of "independantist" which is obviously not English. Since you seemed to imply that one should find a different word or expression for each use of it in the article, I wonder what you would propose? "Supporters of independence"? "Anti-colonialists"? What neutral term could be used? Thanks in any cases for your observation, Tazmaniacs 08:24, 9 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Theodosius Dobzhansky

edit

Hello MayerG. I happened to see your recent edit since the article is on my watchlist. I'm pleased to see you are a teacher of evolutionary biology. Did you happen to notice that our Dobzhansky article needs a lot of improvement? I thought about working on it at one time. There is some material in Ayala's obituary article, but it is so general, it's not exactly clear what Dobzhansky worked on. Thanks, EdJohnston (talk) 06:24, 26 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. Proposed deletion of Evolutionary theory and the political left

edit

The article Evolutionary theory and the political left has been proposed for deletion. The proposed deletion notice added to the article should explain why.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. --OpenFuture (talk) 14:32, 18 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited The Road (2009 film), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Washington (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
