Speedy deletion of Sauk Prairie Area Chamber of Commerce

A tag has been placed on Sauk Prairie Area Chamber of Commerce requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company or corporation, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. It was deleted because it did not give any information about why it was important. This needs to be shown by 3rd party independent reliable published sources, print or online (but not blogs or press releases). In general,we have held almost all the times they have been discussed that local Chambers of Commerce are not notable, in the sense of providing the sort of information that one would expect in an encyclopedia. Additionally, it was written in a promotional style--there is a difference between a web page, and an encyclopedia article. For example "Membership is open to any business. For more information refer to [1]." is the sort of thing that goes on a web page. An encyclopedia is more impersonal. For a full explanation of this see our Business FAQ (which also applies to non-profit organisations), and the guidelines it refers to.

Now, I realize it was deleted right after you entered it, before you had a chance to add more, but there wasn't the least reason for thinking that it was unfinished, or that there would be good references. But there is no reason at all why you shouldn't try again if you have the necessary third party references--and if the material is not copied from a preexisting web page. Unless there really is something to say, something that belongs here and is not just publicity, expect though that it will be sent for a community discussion at WP:AFD. Please see our list of such articles, and you will see most are on very large cities, though I do notice Chapel Hill-Carrboro Chamber of Commerce. I consider it very borderline, and some of the others definitely deletable. But if you write a better & fuller cited article, you're welcome to see if the people here accept it--it isn't ultimately up to me.
