Speedy deletion nomination of Kettlebowl
edit- Start Existing (talk) 22:24, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
Hi. Just to let you know that recreating a recently deleted article and asking for it to not be deleted again in the edit summary is one of the quickest ways to piss people off around here. — User:ACupOfCoffee@ 03:37, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the advice - I guess pissing people off around here is pretty easy to do, maybe the page deleters could be a bit more courteous and do things like actually read the page before they delete it. I was pretty pissed off that someone deleted it and called it advertising - it's a freaking non-profit group of volunteers for gods sakes. Anyway, I know it wasn't you. I don't really know what else to do. I want to make this page, I am motivated to do it now, I have time now - what do you recommend?
- Hi - I have replied at Talk:Kettlebowl as that seemed more appropriate. Jezhotwells (talk) 17:06, 5 September 2009 (UTC)
SmackBot
editHi thanks for your note.
This edit was two weeks ago. If you read the top of the talk page you will see that it should be stopped if there is current ongoing problem. Otherwise just use my talk page.
Secondly if you look at the user page you will see that the name is not intended to be interpreted that way or indeed any way except a light hearted play on words. I am sorry you a grievously offended by it, but no doubt you will recover, no one else seems to have taken it that way. It is not possible to rename users with over 50,000 edits (or thereabouts) without developer intervention, and Smackbot has made significantly more than that. Thanks for the suggestion though.
Thirdly it is useful if you can actually link the article name and also sign your posts to talk pages.
Fourthly I understand your point about the use of ordinal suffixes, I will investigate the matter in regard to the phrase "July 4th holiday" although I think there is already an exception for this. SmackBot is unlikely to revisit that article, but you can drop me a note on my talk page if you have problems there or anywhere else.

- Well part of that is Wikipedia house style, which I don't always agree with. There is an extensive Manual of Style, that dealing with dates and numbers is at WP:MOSNUM. People are not expected (or should not be expected) to write to this style, that is easy enough for people or bots to fix up at a later date. However the MoS is probably the scene of "more and bloodier wars" (to quote Douglas Adams than any other part of WP. Yes people do get upset by comma placement as per Winston Smith's committee.
Speedy deletion nomination of Raptor Education Group Inc.

- Now restored and cleaned up a bit. Please add further detail and cites -- especially if you have sources for your claims of it being the largest in the country by certain metrics. It's likely to end up on AfD at some point without improvement. Regards, +sj+ 06:58, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
Later AfD nomination of Raptor Education Group:
I have nominated Raptor Education Group, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Raptor Education Group. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.
Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 13:24, 26 September 2009 (UTC)

Moving pictures to Commons
editHi Gene. To answer your question on what "move a picture to Commons" means, this refers to the Wikimedia Commons site. Wikimedia Commons, often referred to simply as "Commons", is another wiki. Any picture on Commons can be easily used by any Wikipedia project in any language, whereas pictures that you put on the English Wikipedia can be used only in the English Wikipedia. In general, if you take a picture yourself and release it under a free license, putting it on Commons will allow it to be used more widely, which most contributors consider to be a good thing. See Wikipedia:Wikimedia Commons if you're interested.
Also, below is one of our standard Welcome messages, which probably comes too late to impress you with a warm fuzzy feeling but might be of some help at some point :)
Cheers and take care, Clayoquot (talk | contribs) 02:09, 5 October 2009 (UTC)

Unreferenced BLPs
editHello Mckennagene! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. Please note that all biographies of living persons must be sourced. If you were to add reliable, secondary sources to this article, it would greatly help us with the current 139 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:
- Kevin De Clue - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL

Personal knowledge is not a reliable source
editHi. This is to let you know that I reverted your addition to List of city nicknames in Wisconsin. The personal knowledge of a contributor is not a reliable source under Wikipedia policy on verifiability. If you have a reliable source, you may restore the content with an appropriate citation. --Orlady (talk) 00:45, 27 March 2010 (UTC)
Notification of automated file description generation
editYour upload of File:AntigoSign.jpg or contribution to its description is noted, and thanks (even if belatedly) for your contribution. In order to help make better use of the media, an attempt has been made by an automated process to identify and add certain information to the media's description page.
This notification is placed on your talk page because a bot has identified you either as the uploader of the file, or as a contributor to its metadata. It would be appreciated if you could carefully review the information the bot added. To opt out of these notifications, please follow the instructions here. Thanks! Proposed deletion of Kevin De Clue
editThe article Kevin De Clue has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Chase (talk | contributions) 04:32, 22 December 2016 (UTC)
Nomination of Kevin De Clue for deletion

Users are encouraged to edit the article during the discussion, particularly in ways that address the concerns raised in that discussion. However, please do not attempt to remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article— doing so may be considered an act of bad faith and will not halt the deletion process. Thank you! code.

Kara mccarthy moved to draftspace
editAn article you recently created, Kara mccarthy, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. ~ Amkgp 💬 06:28, 7 November 2020 (UTC)
