Your additions to Joseph Heitman
editHello! I saw your recent additions to the article Joseph Heitman, where you've added lists of memberships/honors and invited lectures. Here at Wikipedia, we tend to avoid adding lists of honors to academics' Wikipedia articles; the general consensus is that it's unencyclopedic material that instead belongs on a CV or University faculty page. The goal of the article is to answer the question "who is Joseph Heitman", rather than "how great is Joseph Heitman?". If you have a particular interest in Heitman, it would be super if you could identify more sources about him with which we could expand the article! Alternatively you could use the existing sources to expand the desription of his training and research career. Well-written prose is always far superior to lists. Also, in the unlikely event that you are personally or professionally connected to Heitman, you may have what we call here a conflict of interest. This certainly doesn't bar you from improving the page, but for what it's worth I'd highly discourage you (and anyone) from editing topics that are too close to home. I've been working on microbiology topics here for several years, and nearly all conflict of interest editing I've seen ends in frustration for all parties involved. All that said, I hope this doesn't dissuade you from continuing to contribute to Wikipedia! It's a big place with lots to do. If you'd like help getting started, feel free to ask me at my talk page, microbiology-interested editors at WikiProject Microbiology, and/or experienced editors interested in helping newbies at WP:TEAHOUSE. I hope all is well! Happy editing! Ajpolino (talk) 19:37, 15 August 2019 (UTC)
