Joseph Robinette Biden, Sr.
editI have deleted Joseph Robinette Biden, Sr. because it was unambiguously a copyright infringement of this page. Please read WP:COPYVIO. Contributions are welcome, but they must fall within policy. Also, it is not clear that the elder Biden was notable, although that wouldn't be a reason to delete the article under WP:CSD#G12 as I did. If you have any questions, please let me know. I'll be watching this talk page. Frank | talk 18:42, 26 October 2011 (UTC)

Obama name
editPlease see Talk:Barack_Obama/FAQ#Q4, Talk:Barack_Obama/Archive_25#Legal_name, Talk:Barack_Obama/Archive_44#Barack_Hussein_Obama_JR.2C_not_II, and indeed, his birth certificate for reasons why Obama is referred to in the lede as Barack Hussein Obama II, not Jr. If you feel this should be changed for some reason, please discuss it and obtain consensus for such a change at Talk:Barack Obama before making such a change again. If you have any questions, please let me know, or even better, discuss at that talk page. Frank | talk 15:20, 31 October 2011 (UTC)

editHello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to President of the United States, did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and read the welcome page to learn more about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. Thank you. ceradon 18:44, 26 November 2011 (UTC)
Hi - Please see Talk: Barack Obama for why I've twice removed your well-meaning addition of Obama's stint as chair of a Senate subcommittee. Can discuss there, but please leave it off unless we reach consensus to add it. Thanks. Tvoz/talk 03:20, 28 November 2011 (UTC)
Editing the infobox
editHello, and thank you for your recent edit to President of the United States. I see you tried to add a parameter to the Infobox, the "quick info" in the upper-right corner of many pages. Unfortunately, your edit was unsuccessful and has been reverted. If you want such a template added, please go to the Infobox Template's talk page, in this case Template talk:Infobox political post, and please request that such a parameter be added. If your suggestion is approved by other editors there, you may then add the parameter here, making sure to use whatever syntax is correct for that Infobox template.
I know the intricacies of talk pages, templates, and infoboxes can make Wikipedia a daunting place to edit. I appreciate your good faith attempt at an edit, and look forward to your particiation in the future. If you have any questions, please respond here or on my own talk page, remembering to sign your posts with ~~~~. Thanks again. —LinkTiger (talk) 14:30, 6 December 2011 (UTC)

editWelcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, but when you add or change content, as you did to the article Harry S. Truman, please cite a reliable source for your addition. This helps maintain our policy of verifiability. See Wikipedia:Citing sources for how to cite sources, and the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. -— Gadget850 (Ed) talk 14:47, 12 December 2011 (UTC)

Suggestions for your editing
editHello - I have seen your editing at Barack Obama and would like to make some suggestions for you, since you appear to be a fairly new editor here, to make your edits more effective and to make it easier for other editors to follow them.
- First, the buttons under the edit screen include one for "Show preview" - you don't need to and shouldn't save each edit as you experiment with the size of photos, or punctuation, or re-wording or anything - make your change in the edit screen and click on "show preview" and if you don't like what you did, change it - then only click on "Save page" when you are satisfied with your change. That will spare everyone having to go through 5 or 6 or however many edits of yours that you yourself have changed. (You also can use the "Show changes" button to show yourself how you changed the text - this may be helpful for you, and no one else will see it.)
- Secondly, please enter an "Edit summary" in the box so marked below the edit screen - this also helps other editors follow your edits and understand what you did and why.
- Finally, another way to test your own edits is to utilize the sandbox feature - you can experiment all you want in that space, and only transfer your edits when you are happy with them.
I hope this is helpful to you - please understand that the Obama articles are watched and edits followed by a very large number of editors, and it is just easier all around if a bit more information is given, and unneeded edits avoided by the use of preview. Barack Obama is also a "featured article", meaning it has gone under extensive review and likely there are reasons for most of what you will find there. But I also want to thank you for contributing - it is always good to have new eyes on an article, and I don't mean to discourage you, just help you edit in a more effective manner. If I can answer any questions for you, don't hesitate to ask here on your talk page or on my talk page. We were all new editors at one time! Cheers Tvoz/talk 18:30, 13 December 2011 (UTC)
Only Warning
editThis caused a large number of prominent articles to end up in the category for speedy deletion. With your immediate follow up edit to dispute it being speedy deleted, I can only conclude that it was deliberate. If you try anything like this again, I will block you indefinitely without further warning. --GraemeL (talk) 18:50, 13 December 2011 (UTC)

editThank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Regarding your edits to Barack Obama, it is recommended that you use the preview button before you save; this helps you find any errors you have made, reduces edit conflicts, and prevents clogging up recent changes and the page history. Thank you. Shearonink (talk) 14:26, 18 December 2011 (UTC)
Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed content from Template:Cabinet of David Cameron. When removing content, please specify a reason in the edit summary and discuss edits that are likely to be controversial on the article's talk page. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the content has been restored, as you can see from the page history. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. --Hammersoft (talk) 14:42, 18 December 2011 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification
editHi. In Gamal Abdel Nasser, you recently added a link to the disambiguation page Egyptian (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Nomination of Assistant Democratic Party Leader of the United States House of Representatives for deletion
editA discussion is taking place as to whether the article Assistant Democratic Party Leader of the United States House of Representatives is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.
The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Assistant Democratic Party Leader of the United States House of Representatives until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on good quality evidence, and our policies and guidelines.
Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. Dennis The Tiger (Rawr and stuff) 21:17, 19 December 2011 (UTC)
Please use edit summaries
editWhen you make an edit to an article, there is a box at the bottom where you are generally expected to place a brief description of what you have changed in the article. As far as I can see in your edit history, since creating this account in October 2011 you have never done this. Again, please do this from now on, as it helps other editors see what you're changing. See Help:Edit summary. Tarc (talk) 22:53, 25 December 2011 (UTC)
Do you read anything here?
editComments have been left here to help your editing, and people have given explanations of why they revert your edits in edit summaries, but you never reply. So, I'll try again one more time here:
- we don't use color to highlight the first sentence, we use boldface.
- if you would use "See preview" you'd see when your edits don't work, which would save other editors time
- adding photos just because they exist is not the way we do it- the photo should be adding something specific or new to the article, illustrating something in the text. And we try not to overwhelm articles with photos.
- and as has been said several times above, please use edit summaries so people know why you are making changes.
This is supposed to be a collaborative effort, so it would be helpful if you would engage with fellow editors, rather than ignoring their comments - this way all you are doing is making work for others when we have to repeatedly revert your unexplained edits. Tvoz/talk 03:37, 26 December 2011 (UTC)
Another one: we do not use Honorifics such as "The Honorable" above the infobox of American politicians, nor do we include suffixes like "MC" (Member of Congress) there. Your edits to that effect have been reverted numerous times, so I hope you get that now. Some response here to the comments made would be appreciated. Tvoz/talk 23:57, 27 December 2011 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
