Many other students in your class have made edits related to so-called "inclusive language", meaning referring to e.g. "person with a uterus" rather than "woman". Was your class told to do this by someone in particular? Who was it? Why are so many students doing that? When you reply, please let me know here.

If you were told to do that, then they were incorrect. Per WP:V and WP:NOR, Wikipedia's text must stick to the terminology found in the reliable medical sources. These terms are very rare in the medical literature. Consensus of the Wikipedia community as arrived at here is against such wordings.
