DUNIYADARI is a story of friendship, love, relationships and destiny based in the era of mid 70s. The story deals with the emotions of the youth, thier romance and journeys that their destinies have in store for them. Meet Mehta, son of a wealth business tycoon discovers the magic of love and friendship when he is sent to study at Gujarat College in Ahmedabad by his mother; only to be perplexed with the choices to be made. A sober and peace loving Meet meets Dharmesh (popularly called DSP in college) under a dramatic situation and both end up becoming best friends. While Meet likes to reason with situations, DSP punches people in the face and gets things done his way. DSP heads the famous “KITLI Gang” that includes Meet as one of their own, and here begins the discovery of friendship, love, romance, heart ache and heart breaks for Meet and Dharmesh. DSP deeply loves Shilpa from the same college and Meet falls in love with Kavita – a medical student; its love at first sight. The gang war between DSP and Dushyant(a polotician’s son) is an old and known rivalry which plays a big role in DSP loosing Shilpa who is forcibly and secretly married off to someone else by his family. DSP gets shattered. While Meet and Kavita are madly in love with each other, Meet gets embroiled into a fight and is wrongly held guilty by inspector Zhala who hits Meet with a thundering slap. Amita, lovingly called Ami, is inspector Zhala’s daughter who gets paired with Meet by the Kitli Gang with the aim to get back to inspector Zhala for hitting Meet. But as destiny has it, within this game by the Kitli gang, Ami actually falls for Meet and proposes to him. This shakes up Meet who loves Kavita and does not know how to deal with Ami who is very innocently dreaming of a picture perfect life with Meet. In the mean time Kavita shocks Meet as she announces to him that her marriage is fixed with none other than Dushyant. Meet goes numb with the news. A dramatic event in Meet’s life lets him discover the importance of standing up and taking charge of life and love. DSP stands by Meet and for the 1st time Meet, along with DSP and the Kitli Gang put up a fight and rescues Kavita out of her marriage ceremony with Dushyant. Meet and Kavita marry. But its discovered that Meet suffers from a terminal illness, and before Kavita delivers their child, he is no more. Today, even 40 years later, Kavita, Ami, DSP, and the Kitli Gang make sure they all gather at the Kitli (canteen) of their college on Meet’s birthday to meet him and talk to him on the very same bench where they spent most of their time in college. No matter where they are, they all meet at their very own Gujarat college on this special day and bond once again, in memory of Meet – their dearest friend.
