editIf you're already filing a new article in a role-specific category like Category:Members of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council, then please do not also file it in parent categories like Category:Indian politicians or Category:Politicians at the same time. That's called duplicate categorization, because Members of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council is already a subcategory of the other two, meaning that a person is already under the other two categories by virtue of being in Members of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council — but there are literally millions of politicians in the world, and thousands upon thousands of Indian politicians, so it isn't helpful for them all to be filed directly in the higher-level categories at the same time as being in more specific ones. So we only file people in the most specific appropriate categories, and don't duplicate categorize them in higher-level parents at the same time. Thanks. Bearcat (talk) 17:19, 1 May 2024 (UTC)
