Yom Kippur War

Thanks for the info. I have excellent knowledge of the war, having read 12 books on the subject in addition to touring the combat zones and speaking personally to people who actually participated in the war. I also studied technical aspects of the war during my time in the service (USAF). As I stated earlier, the article in its current form is painfully inaccurate and requires a major over-haul from start to finish and I intend to do so in the near future. Please do not let your inexperience in editing prevent you from editing. You have to start somewhere and don't worry about making mistakes because they can easily be corrected. Indeed, I welcome the opportunity to collaborate with you. Other editors have expressed a similar interest in collaborating with me and have expressed the same concerns that you correctly pointed out. I suggest you put the article on your watch list as there will be lots of activity in the near future and don't let any other editor bully you into submission. Also check out the article's history section and you'll see some of the edits that I made but most were unfortunately reverted by Sherif. I intend to restore these as well as making additional edits. Once again don't be intimidated by other editors or by your relative inexperience. Hi Megaidler. You indicated that your knowledge of the Yom Kippur War stems primarily from Hebrew sources. Although generally I would prefer English sources, in this case an exception is warranted. This is so because the article itself draws heavily on Arabic sources so Hebrew sources are welcome and in fact, necessary to restore balance. Don't hesitate to use these sources and don't feel intimidated. Edit to your heart's desire and voice your opinion on the discussion page. Hello; I hope that you keep in mind that this is not a forum where the editor's own POV is to be taken in consideration. That is to say that whatever your write should count; Maybe you think El-Shazley was a liar, but to state such thing here, you need to relay on a reliable source. We, as editors are not supposed to be affected with our POVs, when editing article, but rather stick to the policies; Simple, it's chaos if every one would relay on their own POV, that happen to contradict other POVs.

The way i see things, is that as editors, our main aim is supposed to be improving the encyclopedia, and adding to it. That can be done by citing articles to different reliable sources, that support different POVs. A very simple way to assure that that happens is stop removing reliably cited info :D

I hope you take what i just wrote in consideration, to help improve and keep Wikipedia a reliable unbiased encyclopedia. ( ΡHARAOH  The Muslim  20:35, 23 March 2010 (UTC)

Hi there Megaidler.

I had my fun mocking you, but then I realized this isn't constructive, and that this is contrary to WP:BITE, so I appologize.

You need to widen your perspective, consider other viewpoints. You must be objective in presenting hypothesis if you're going to earn respect for your words. Analysis such as "Hammad was naive", the "DIA cannot identify causes for the destruction of tanks", or the "Egyptian military leadership was ignorant as to why it lost so many tanks". This is not the way to advance your POV in an article. This is an encyclopedia, not a forum. Trying to reach people's emotions doesn't pass here; you must be objective.

You should read carefully what Wikipedia's guidelines have to say. Go through all those links at the top of your talk page. --Sherif9282 (talk) 17:18, 10 February 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for leaving the message on my Talk page. It was my pleasure to help out a fellow content editor who was wrongfully blocked on a baseless charge brought by a highly partisan individual. And it's not that I don't trust something because it's an official Israeli source, it's that I might not be convinced of the content or hold a different POV. So I've read it, and it is for the greater part similar to any Israeli-POV account of the war. Doesn't deviate much from Rabinovich's account in general, for instance, although there's a small habit of presenting what I would consider half-truths. --Sherif9282 (talk) 09:35, 18 March 2011 (UTC)
