Disambiguation link notification for October 4
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Dickerson (surname), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Mary Dickerson. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

More children's literature
Since you were so helpful the last time with My Weird School, I thought maybe you'd be interested in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Gordon the Big Engine. One would think that a main character in one of the most significant and popular children's TV and book franchises would have some independent discussion. However, all I have been able to locate is a single paragraph [1]. Do you have sources which would indicate anything other than that the topic should be redirected to the main Thomas page? Thanks! 78.26 (spin me / revolutions) 18:59, 6 October 2020 (UTC)
- 78.26 I'm not finding any significant info about just Gordon in Newspapers.com or EBSCOhost. Usually that's where I get good hits on children's lit topics. Characters from stories are really hard to source. Fans know a ton about them (I heard so much Thomas the Tank Engine talk when my kiddos were young!). But there's not a lot of good RS. I think a redirect might be best here. Megalibrarygirl (talk) 02:29, 7 October 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks so much for checking. I'm a bit surprised that no one has discussed the characters independently, given how ubiquitous the series was when my kids were growing up. Have a fantastic day! All the best, 78.26 (spin me / revolutions) 14:05, 7 October 2020 (UTC)
- I remember my mum reading me Gordon The Big Engine and other Railway Series books when I was (lifts hand about three feet off the ground) this high. Obviously not every Wikipedian is going to have grown up in 1970s Britain, but that AfD is definitely a "what in actual f..." moment. Having said that, I have gone for a redirect as the article looks a bit too fandom-ish for my tastes. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 14:39, 7 October 2020 (UTC)
- If you'll forgive my butting in; speaking from my rather niche experience in speculative fiction, I find it's very rare for characters besides protagonists to have substantive analytical coverage in reliable sources. We had very many character bios written here for supporting characters, particularly in Wikipedia's early years, and many of them seem quite good, in that they're detailed; but much of that detail comes from primary source material, and when we get around to applying systematic criteria to them we end up with a spate of PRODs and AfDs. I've sent a few of these to AfD recently, and though it pains me to admit it, most of those should not have standalone articles. Vanamonde (Talk) 17:04, 12 October 2020 (UTC)
- I agree, Vanamonde. I think those type of character bios are better served on other projects. I like to read about character bios, but the sources don't support stand-alone articles usually. Megalibrarygirl (talk) 17:17, 12 October 2020 (UTC)
- In the case of the Railway Series, Thomas could probably have his own article since he has been extensively promoted as an independent entity outside the original book series; the rest of them would probably only warrant a redirect. I can remember taking my eldest on the Kent and East Sussex Railway to see "Thomas" for his second birthday, but it was Thomas, not the rest of them. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 09:09, 13 October 2020 (UTC)
- 78.26: Pity there's not a lot on Gordon but for me Thomas was certainly the centre of attraction. I remember receiving the first edition on my sixth birthday in 1949. Gordon was of course one of the main characters in the book but Thomas was the one we all loved. In fact Gordon preceded Thomas as he was one of the characters in The Three Railway Engines which appeared in 1945, a year before Thomas the Tank Engline. There's some background here with a number of links on which you could certainly build an article. The Island of Sodor: Its People, History and Railways also appears to contain interesting background information. Let me know if you need further assistance. I'm happy to see Gordon the Big Engine has survived in "Simple English". It might well be worthwhile having another go at it.--Ipigott (talk) 15:39, 21 October 2020 (UTC)

Help on a BLP
Hi there! I was wondering if you had any additional sources that can help on Teeuwynn Woodruff? BOZ (talk) 13:08, 24 October 2020 (UTC)
- @BOZ: I checked in databases I have access to, but didn't get hits there. She seems to be credited for a HUGE number of games and I added one cite. There's a few more from Forbes and Wired, but I don't know what section it should go in: [2], [3] Megalibrarygirl (talk) 23:42, 24 October 2020 (UTC)
- OK, thanks! :) BOZ (talk) 03:52, 25 October 2020 (UTC)
Thanks for suggesting A Delay is Better
Waaaay back in Jan 2016 you created a "Works" section over at WiR and added Pamela Z's solo album A Delay is Better to it. Well, I found it a couple days ago. And now, thanks to your suggestion, it's an Article. Thanks! TheMusicExperimental (talk) 04:39, 27 October 2020 (UTC)
- That is so cool, TheMusicExperimental! I'm glad you enjoyed writing the article. :) Megalibrarygirl (talk) 15:02, 27 October 2020 (UTC)

A couple of Drafts
Hi there, thanks again. If it's not asking too much, is there anything you can do to help improve Draft:Julie Ann Dawson to be ready to move back to main article space? I had also found this abandoned user space draft from an inactive user that I wanted to co-opt and hopefully publish one day: User:Vermiculite/Samantha Henderson. BOZ (talk) 15:38, 29 October 2020 (UTC)
- @BOZ: I think these two are WP:TOOSOON. But looking in a couple of sources, I did find:
- "Samantha Henderson". Baker & Taylor Author Biographies. 2000. I have access--it's short and confirms she lives in SoCal, but it's not going to help much for her notablilty.
- I found nothing for Julie. :( Megalibrarygirl (talk) 17:09, 29 October 2020 (UTC)
- Hey, thanks for checking - you never know what you might find! BOZ (talk) 17:44, 29 October 2020 (UTC)
- No problem, BOZ! I am sometimes surprised to find stuff. I think these writers/creators might be notable in the future. They just need more coverage. It would be good to keep the drafts. :) Megalibrarygirl (talk) 19:25, 29 October 2020 (UTC)
