Nice design — a great improvement, I think. --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 08:55, 20 August 2005 (UTC)
- And again on In Bed with Medinner (series 4) — even more of an impressive improvement. --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 16:57, 26 August 2005 (UTC)
Regarding names in the English version of Tsubasa
Hi! How is Toya's name spelled in the English version of Tsubasa? WhisperToMe 00:08, 22 December 2005 (UTC)
Ah, thank you! I think the spellings on the Tsubasa page should reflect the Del Rey spelling (romanization differences are noted if the names are spelled differently in other CLAMP works, e.g. what TOKYOPOP publishes). WhisperToMe 08:12, 23 December 2005 (UTC)
Non-free image reductions
Hi, Melesse - for reductions of non-free comics images, the WikiProject Comics guidelines recommend about 300px on the long axis for non-free images. See this link for info. Videmus Omnia Talk 03:31, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
- Hey, thanks so much for pointing that out, I always wondered exactly what they meant by "low resolution." Melesse 03:33, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
- No problem - I really appreciate you doing the rescaling work, which is normally unappreciated, but highly necessary. Videmus Omnia Talk 03:36, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

For great work in non-free image rescaling, an unsung but highly necessary task. Thanks! Videmus Omnia Talk 03:39, 21 September 2007 (UTC) |
Thanks
Keep up the good work in rescaling images so they can comply with fair-use. I respect editors like you that help out other editors out even though sometimes their work goes unnoticed. (Duane543 17:55, 26 September 2007 (UTC))
Resolution of magazine covers
Hi there. Thanks for uploading a reduced resolution version of Image:Astronomical Notes cover volume 327-1.jpg. I was trying to find the guidelines on how large such images can be (I wanted the wording on the cover to still be legible when people click through to the image page), but could only find this old discussion. That suggest a size of 0.1 megapixels (ie. 315 x 315 for a square image, and around 100kB). The size you uploaded is quite a bit smaller than this (211×300 and 26 kB). I think reducing it by 4/5ths as you have done is a bit much, as the cover writing is no longer legible on the image page. I'd suggest 400 pixels across (twice the size displayed in the article), which should still be reasonably close to the guidelines while still being legible. In all three cases, the size is not print-size quality, so the worry that others might use this image in printed documents shouldn't be a concern. I'm going to upload an image of this size, and see how it looks. Hope that's OK. Carcharoth 23:03, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
- Actually, I seem to have lost all the useful image editing programs I had. Would you be able to upload a 400px version? I know it is a big favour to ask, but it would be really appreciated. Carcharoth 23:26, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
Thorstargate.jpg
Could you tell me how you reduced this image for fair use so when i upload any screencaps in the future I can make sure they are ok? Thanks! Million_Moments 16:10, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
- I resized them in Paint Shop Pro. If you don't want to buy it, you can download GIMP, which is free.Melesse 22:07, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
- By how much should I reduce them? Thanks Million_Moments 09:48, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
- This page suggests images be no more than 300 pixels tall/wide on the largest side. I sometimes let them be a little bigger if they lose too much detail or if the other dimension is very small. 04:50, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
- By how much should I reduce them? Thanks Million_Moments 09:48, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the help cleaning up the image info in the fair-use rational on all those rank graphics. - ¥ Jacky Tar 01:22, 27 October 2007 (UTC)
Re: Please stop.
I understand that. But, what I am trying to say is that I had permission to upload the images. I know about the copyright image thing, but what else do you people need?

Hi Melesse. Thank you for reducing the size of 4 images that I tagged with {{fair use reduce}}. Bláthnaid 13:05, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for image reduction
My appreciation for quick action on the fair use reduce tag for Raulgureden.PNG - it's a shame when images get deleted for something as silly as being too big. MalikCarr (talk) 10:46, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

Reduced Image ReducedToAshesBookColor.jpg
Hi Melesse, Thanks for uploading a reduced image in place of the previous one. It's gotten to the point now where I would be very surprised if you didn't resize an image I tag with {{Non-free reduce}}. Thank you so much for all your hard work in this important but oft-overlooked area! --jonny-mt 12:49, 15 January 2008 (UTC) |

A question for you
Hi. Listen, I got something I wanna ask you. You do such a good job with reducing image resolutions. Whenver I tag an image to be resized, you've done it within 12 hours. I think you'd make a great adminastraitor here. So, I was about to nominate you, when I noticed that it said that I should ask you if you wanna become an admin first. So, is it okay if I nominate you? Rappingwonders (talk) 19:57, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
Image edits - a question
Hi Melesse, I've often noticed you editing imsges I've uploaded. I know you do a really good job reducing image sizes etc. In fact, seeing you reduce images has reminded me to try & upload smaller images in the first place. I'm curious though, I can't always tell what you've done. For example, what have you done in this edit? Anyway, keep up the good work, --BelovedFreak 10:17, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
- Ah, that makes sense. Sometimes when I start new articles, I upload the image first, so for a few minutes it would be orphaned. I shall stop doing that! --BelovedFreak 12:15, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

Image tagging
Hello. I'm curious as to why you are adding article names to non-free images, where the "article" is a user page, for example Image:GSUSASilverAward.svg. --— Gadget850 (Ed) talk - 13:04, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
- Sometimes when I'm editing pages in a category that involves a lot of repetetive action, I don't pay very close attention to what I'm doing... Thanks for pointing that out, I'll fix it. Melesse (talk) 02:04, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks. There were a couple of others that I will fix. I'm trying to clear out some redundant non-free images. --— Gadget850 (Ed) talk - 02:49, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
edit summary & RFA
hi melesse -- just in case you want to regularly add edit summaries but just can't remember to do it -- i was able to solve this for myself by changing my preferences: preferences > editing tab > check "Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" -- cheers, and good luck with the RFA. i'm going to look closely at what you've done because i think having a diversity of admins can only be good, and most admins that i can see of late come from "vandal-fighting" experience. so your contributions to the image space are unique & great. --Lquilter (talk) 17:50, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
Regarding your answer to Q7 on your RfA (the recall one if I have the number wrong) - I think its possible you may have misread the page. It relates to a process to remove administrators for cause, i.e. they did something wrong and the community (Through whatever criteria set up by the admin concerned) weighs in about removing their access to the tools. You might have a look at User:Lar/Accountability to see an example for how it might work. Avruchtalk 14:51, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

Give Me Time
Melesse, i've put this image (Image:Water You Wading For.jpg) on Wikipedia because i am crating the article at this time, i need an hour or two to get it done, all i require from you is a little patience and to remove that deletion notice, i can't use it for my article if you delete it! Have you noticed, one by one, the episodes are getting seperate pages, i'm getting them done chronologically, so, could you please not delete it? And just to note, it's only been on for around 10 mintues!
