Lowlife
Quit editing the U2 16th album article. You have no need to. And you keep deleting my source for the album sound. Why don't you just quit editing this page. Low life
- U2boy.nl is not a reputable source - it is a fansite. Since you claim that the information comes from the BBC, Q Magazine, and Rolling Stone, please provide a link to the articles in question on those websites and add it to the article using proper referencing format. Please see WP:Ref for more information. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia that everyone can edit, not just yourself. Just because you created a page does not mean you in any way have possession of the page, or can dictate what can or cannot be placed on the page. Wikipedia policy states that changes can be made by anyone, but there are guidelines that must be followed. Also, deliberately vandalising user pages (as you did to my own) is frowned upon, as is petty name calling; you should know that your conduct so far has been worthy of reporting to an administrator (something I have not done because you appear to be a new user, and I suspect that you are not yet familiar with Wikipedia policy). Finally, please do not remove comments that have been placed on your talk page - your edits can be viewed through the Page History, and will be done so by an administrator if the necessary circumstances arise. Your talk page is a record of your conversations, reminders, warnings, and blockings on Wikipedia. If you wish to remove comments from your talk page, then please archive. See WP:Archive for details on that. Please do not hesitate to contact me on my talk page if you wish to discuss this further. MelicansMatkin 20:55, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
Who do you think you are? And I did not CLAIM that is where I got the info. If you have a baby like problem about it, take it up with U2boy.nl
- You are the one who provided U2boy.nl as a source - it is not a reputable website, and should not be used as a reference MelicansMatkin 20:29, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
WP:AN3 report
Please follow the instructions at WP:AN3. You need to provide diffs of the reverts. ··coelacan 00:08, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
- I've looked at this further now and it looks more like a problem of vandalism, but not a clear case of WP:3RR. I have given a vandalism warning at User talk:CRBR, and if they continue blanking content, warn them once with {{uw-v4}}, and if they continue after that, report it to WP:AIV. Direct any questions to my talk page. Thanks, ··coelacan 05:25, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
Apologies (CRBR}
I would like to apologise for my earlier conduct towards you. I understand that you are new to Wikipedia, and that the policies and formatting of the website may not be familiar to you. I was a little brusque beforehand, and perhaps did not explain things as well as I could have. I hope that if you reread all of my prior comments you can see where I was coming from. I know that you were trying hard to turn U2's 16th album into a good quality article, and that my own editing must have been very frustrating. I admit that I can be quite anal when it comes to proper formatting, and I hope you realize that my efforts where not directed against your work. Many articles are deleted soon after they have been created, if they do not contain references or other sources, are very brief, are not relevent at the moment, take content straight from another webpage, seem to have been created for the sole purpose of linking elsewhere, or many other such efforts. I was actually attempting to avoid that from happening by making the article follow Wikipedia protocol (for lack of a better word). I hope you can understand now why I made so many edits and reversions, and I would be more than happy to help if you have any questions about how to use proper Wikipedia format. Reply: Apologies User talk:MelicansMatkin
To tell you the truth, I was for sure worse than you were. Now of course I accept your apologie and I apologize to you as well. I didn't mean to call you all of those names before. Its just that when someones corrects me, that makes me upset. So once again, I apologize for all of this. Since you don't know me real well, I'm going to tell you about me: I'm 15 years old, I really enjoy U2 and baseball. My favorite team is the Toronto Blue Jays, due to Roy Halladay. My dreams are becoming a baseball player, while making a band. Thanks, and sorry: CRBR 20:34, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
License tagging for Image:Vertlive.png
Thanks for uploading Image:Vertlive.png. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 02:10, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
A Vandal's Returned
You may recall a while ago that an anonymous user repeatedly vandalized the page Southwood Secondary School, and then created several accounts in an attempt to impersonate me. I believe that this person has returned, under the account User Talk:Wendel67. While some of his edits to other pages (Pokemon (anime) and Chobits among them) appear to be good faith, I feel it's worth noting that the user's first vandalism edit to Southwood was to add "Jamal Aburaneh - Actor, (Little Mosque on the Prarie) which is what the incident last time stemmed from. I am going through the vandalism warning templates and will report to WP:AIV once I have gone through them all, but I figured that I should bring this to your attention. MelicansMatkin 20:18, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
Hello. I don't appreciate being labeled a vandal. I am a former student that still lives in the area around Southwood Secondary School, and I heard that Jamal was an actor on that program. Leave it off if you don't think it's true; I don't really care - I'm not about to break my back searching for proof. I do, however, care when someone such as yourself contacts administrators with the entirely unfounded accustation of me impersonating you. Don't flatter yourself. You say some of my edits appear in good faith? They are ALL made in good faith. Should I paste vandalism templates on your user page for every edit that you make in haste? ie: mindlessly reverting my constuctive edits on U2's "Acrobat" and Bryan Adams' "Heaven". And another thing - why do you seem to keep track of, and revert all the edits that I make? It seems like YOU are the one that has the problem with me. The comments I left on those article talk pages were to communicate directly with you the reasons that your reverts weren't warranted. Hopefully in the future when you are secretly watching all edits that I make, you will stop and think for a moment before reverting my grammatical corrections or constructive additions. Thanks. Wendel67 00:43, 20 May 2007 (UTC)
Yes, I do know quite a bit about infoboxes, and have even created a handful of them. The problem you were having is that you were using a deprecated template. {{Extra album cover}} should no longer be used because it has been replaced by {{Extra album cover 2}}. As far as the infobox dates go, the rule of thumb is to use the earliest release date (March 5, 1999) in the infobox, which I found on Amazon.com. It is possible that the album was released on the other date as well, but in different countries. The infobox should also feature only one release date, and other release dates (such as the album's re-release) should be mentioned in the article. All this information about the infobox and more can be found at Template:Infobox Album.
Other things to keep in mind:
- Use an endash (–) rather than a hyphen (-) when listing album tracks and times (the endash link is the first one at the bottom of the editing window, next to the word "insert")
- Check All Music Guide for album ratings to add to the infobox
- Use {{cite web}} when citing webpages on the internet, rather than simply listing a link to the page
- ALWAYS add a fair use rationale template to image pages for copyrighted images, otherwise the image is subject to speedy deletion without notice
P.S. If you're looking for more info about the album, check out U2Wanderer.org, the most detailed U2 discography site on the internet.
–Crashintome4196 23:31, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
- {{Cite web}} is a template that goes inside the
<ref></ref>
tags; it looks much nicer than simply putting a url and title between brackets.

Thanks
Thank you for your assistance with my auto-block situation. I think it's all cleared up now, as I am again able to edit. Your help was very much appreciated. Wendel67 17:10, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
Non-free use disputed for Image:Kane WOWY album.jpg
This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:Kane WOWY album.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:13, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
Bono
Appropriate references appear on the page being linked to. The 100 Greatest Britons page has several BBC links so Wiki is NOT being used as a source: the Bono page is linking to another Wiki page which has the required citations. 86.17.211.191 19:37, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
- However the citations must be present on the Bono page as well - that is why the fact request template tag must remain. MelicansMatkin 20:10, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
- There are two other tirets in that section alone that have not had a [citation needed] tag added. Shouldn't an article be consistent in its application of rules and policy? 86.17.211.191 23:43, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
- That is up to the discretion of the people who edit the article. If you feel that there is any need whatsoever to request a citation for a particular piece of information in the article, then it is recommended that you add one - also, one when placing a fact tag, please place a pipe (above the enter key on my keyboard, looks like an |) add then write date=June 2007, or whatever month and year it happens to be. MelicansMatkin 11:48, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks. I did. And they were instantly removed by one of the megolomaniac Wikipedians who always instantly remove anything added by an anon user and they only got restored after I made a mockery of his/her justification for refusing to provide a reference - I quote: "What do you think the source is?!" (my bold/italics) - sorry, but I understand that sources have to be cited, not thought of! I made a change to the Bono article before and the same person instantly deleted it. Another account holder said "Hang on, I agreed with that change!" and it was immediately restored with not so much as a murmur from the initial deleter. Sadly, it seems that is largely how Wikipedia works and is why I decline to register. -- 86.17.211.191 11:18, 23 June 2007 (UTC)

The Saints Are Coming Errors
I was just wondering if you thought the U2/Green Day version of The Saints Are Coming is Punk Rock? It is under the catagory of Punk Rock which I don't believe it is. I believe it needs changed to just rock. Was it also produced with Jacknife Lee? I believe it wasn't. I believe it needs change and I believe you should. Thanks CRBR 20:32, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
The Saints Are Coming Errors cont...
The reason I say The Saints Are Coming doesn't sound like Punk is because it sounds like U2 with more than one person playing the same instrument at the same time. Oh, did you hear Mercy by U2? I heard it from a fake video and it was REALLY good. If you haven't heard it and want to hear it, Ill give you the link! Thanks CRBR 17:44, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
U2 News
If you didn't see on atu2.com, Mercy will be on the next U2 album. If you want the official article from U2place.com, contact me. Thanks CRBR 17:08, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

Politeness (to Y2kcrazyjoker4)
While you were very polite when you removed italics from song names on my user page, you could have definitely been more so when editing "The Hands That Built America" - if you don't know how song titles are formatted, don't edit is a very strong statement that I took offense to. Please see Etiquette for tips on interaction with other Wikipedians. MelicansMatkin 13:43, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
