Managing a conflict of interest
editHello, Michael Murray Crocker. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Michael Crocker, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).
Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Please note that writing autobiographies is strongly discouraged: Wikipedia:Autobiography ~ ToBeFree (talk) 16:56, 22 June 2018 (UTC)
There's a FAQ help page about this subject, and I will do my best to support you here
editHi
One clarification first: I'll do my best to support you here, and to get any incorrect information removed as quickly as possible. Replacing it, or adding new content to the article, however, is more complex and comes with a few issues, such as the "COI" guideline mentioned above.
In general, I can suggest: Remove everything that is libellous and blatantly wrong. That's okay. However, please do not add new content directly to the article -- and if you absolutely feel that you have to, please provide a reliable source for this. See also: Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources, Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons
That said, here is the FAQ that hopefully has all the information you might still be looking for: Wikipedia:FAQ/Article_subjects
If there are any questions left, feel free to ask me or any other editor for help here. For quick assistance, adding {{help me}}
to this page will automatically ask experienced, friendly editors to help with any question that might be left after reading the FAQ. Thank you very much for your time and your improvement suggestions! ~ ToBeFree (talk) 17:06, 22 June 2018 (UTC)
Adding images to Wikipedia
editHi,
you might be interested in adding images to Wikipedia. The last paragraph on the following page can be helpful here: Wikipedia:Contact_us_-_Licensing
Confirming your identity
editHi,
about your username -- could you please contact info-en wikimedia.org with the following information?
"I am using Wikipedia under the username "Michael Murray Crocker" (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Michael_Murray_Crocker ) and would like to prove my identity to the Wikimedia Foundation. Please let me know how I can do this."
To see what I mean, and to avoid what I mean, please have a look at this page, which does not currently apply to you but might, if an administrator decides to: Template:Uw-ublock-famous
For this reason, I'm suggesting you to send a message like I described above.
Thanks! ~ ToBeFree (talk) 17:53, 22 June 2018 (UTC)
