PS. I saw that you created Template:Infobox Joseph Phillips yesterday. I've asked for it to be deleted as a test page, as your draft article doesn't use it. I hope you don't mind! -- John of Reading (talk) 14:08, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
Ok thanks John. I am very much a beginner with Wikipedia and am just getting used to how things work so I appreciate any help and advice I can get. I think I may have created Template:Infobox Joseph Phillips in error as I was trying to create an infobox on my new article page then I didn't know how to remove it so thanks for doing that, regards, Mick MickPhillips (talk) 12:25, 21 December 2011 (UTC)
Hi John, Thank you for your advice. I have used the tutorials and the Article Wizard to help me. I have written my first article and have researched similar articles in order to get consistency in the style without plagiarising detail. I have written with a neutral point of view and avoided any personal interpretations using purely factual information. I have added a lot of links for reference and verification purposes. I have not breached any copyrights. I think the article is almost ready to be submitted but would appreciate some feedback before I hit the ‘submit’ button. I would like to know a bit more about ‘disambiguation’ as I would like my page to be found when people are searching for Joseph Phillips or Joey Phillips rather than Joseph Phillips (English Actor). Also I can’t seem to change the heading of the infobox, I want it to just say Joseph Phillips rather than MickPhillips/Joseph Phillips (English Actor). - The easy bits first: I've fixed the name at the top of the "info box" and removed the mess that was being displayed above and below the picture. I've also reformatted the reference to the film award; it now appears in the "References" section. For more on that see Help:Footnotes.
- Now it gets harder. One of Wikipedia's principles is that information must be verifiable. Readers must be able to check for themselves that the information is true. It's clear that you have access to unpublished information, and I would guess from your user name that you are writing about a relative. You need to pretend that you know nothing about Joseph Philips except what you find in reliable sources such as those newspaper articles, and write the article based only on that.
- You may be left with only two or three sentences, but it will have a much better chance of being accepted in that form because each sentence can be backed up by a reference to one or other of those newspaper articles. -- John of Reading (talk) 17:34, 23 December 2011 (UTC)
