Input on the Penrose consciousness section in Microtubule
editI saw you've edited Microtubule in the past, and I'd like your input on Talk:Microtubule#Removing Penrose/Moving (again). IP 24.192.195.236 is reverting other's efforts to remove the Penrose section, breaking WP:3RR in the process. I'd like to build a consensus on the Talk page, before taking further action. I've opined on the Talk that keeping the section violates WP:NPOV. —wing gundam 19:47, 5 August 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for ridding the microtubule entry of all that nonsense. I also took the opportunity to add critical passages: 1) the search and capture model of microtubule function, 2) the effects of calcium and cold on microtubule stability 3) I fixed the map section to include plus end tracking proteins, and 4) a section on post-transcriptional regulation of microtubules. I still need to add refs to all these additional sections ... Microtubules (talk) 23:34, 5 August 2013 (UTC)
- Nice work with the Search and Capture model. Do you think you could find citations for the new material?
- And no problem, though the IP has responded to you with a rather lengthy "defense" on the Talk. He argues that the theory isn't "fringe" or nonsense, and that the criticisms are either strawmen or have been answered. —wing gundam 01:44, 6 August 2013 (UTC)
- I'm trying to give replies to all their comments/concerns, I think that they are realizing that the Penrose stuff is speculation. If I were you I would not antagonize them too much. It's best to stick to the data and point out the problems. Their view of all this is quite naïve and by showing them the way, I hope that they learn how to be critical. Science is hard. Microtubules (talk) 04:37, 7 August 2013 (UTC)
- Haha wasn't trying to. Good job in responding to **every one** of his points! They were so... confused. I just parroted the party lines about WP:NPOV. —wing gundam 01:54, 9 August 2013 (UTC)

consensus opinion
editAlso, would you mind commenting whether you support the Talk:Microtubule#Consensus_opinion, as I've written it? —wing gundam 01:54, 9 August 2013 (UTC)
- Are you sure that you want to write "While Orch-OR may have scientific validity, that is not for us to judge"? My quibble is with "have scientific validity", which could be interpreted as "this theory is tenable by our current scientific understanding". It's best to be prudent and state that while Orch-OR may ultimately have some basis in reality, it is not supported by the current scientific literature and by the scientific community. Microtubules (talk) 02:39, 9 August 2013 (UTC)
- Changed it. Better? Also, it looks like 24.192.195.236 is trying to start the *exact same thing* over at Talk:Orchestrated_objective_reduction#A_Small_Request... —wing gundam 03:53, 10 August 2013 (UTC)
- Thumbs up. Microtubules (talk) 13:09, 10 August 2013 (UTC)

editSpeedy deletion nomination of University of Toronto Department Biochemistry
editHello Microtubules,
I wanted to let you know that I just tagged University of Toronto Department Biochemistry for deletion, because it seems to be copied from another source, probably infringing copyright.
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to rewrite it in your own words, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!
