RFPP for Alex Song
Just a heads up - we get a lot of these types of requests at RFPP. They usually result in a short protection because multiple drive-by editors are adding unsourced info to a BLP and are uninterested in discussing. --NeilN talk to me 16:39, 25 July 2016 (UTC)

Melbourneeyeresearch
Hey, I noticed you marked the username "Melbourneeyeresearch" as "Not a blatant violation" on WP:UAA. I don't know if you know this, but Melbourne Eye Research is the name of a business. It seems to be an eye doctor place. It was the first search result when I Googled "Melbourneeyeresearch". -- Gestrid (talk) 04:49, 15 August 2016 (UTC)
- @Gestrid:, you are right, I had not seen that. Having looked at the contributions of the user and the website in question, though, I would stand by what I said before, because: 1) It is a name generic enough (if it had Pty. Ltd, or Inc., for example, then that would be a blatant violation). 2) Their edits are not overly problematic, and 3) They have shown themselves to be communicative, a bit at least. I do agree it is a problem (maybe implying shared use), but I don't think it is blatant. A block would probably be counterproductive, and engaging in discussion would, in my opinion, be more useful. What do you think? MikeLynch (talk) 09:05, 15 August 2016 (UTC)
- Yes, I think a conversation is better than a block in any case, barring anything like vandalism. -- Gestrid (talk) 14:04, 15 August 2016 (UTC)

Why are you removing residence of pv sindhu — Preceding unsigned comment added by Padukati (talk • contribs) 22:04, 18 August 2016 (UTC)
- Hi @Padukati, because the source in the article mentions a birthplace which you changed to something different. About the residence, it would be great if you could find a source which confirms what you write. MikeLynch (talk) 22:07, 18 August 2016 (UTC)

Hi yo you there ?
- Yes @pratikkumarbehera, do go on. MikeLynch (talk) 10:42, 19 August 2016 (UTC)
I dont know how to talk @MikeLynch. but i have a question. As you can see this image (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Sania_Mirza_(28418631362).jpg ) is already live which has a source page https://www.flickr.com/photos/andrewcampbell1/28418631362/.
i also tried to add an image from Flickr (https://www.flickr.com/photos/146254539@N08/) too but its removed https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:P.V._Sandhu_Indian_Badminton_Player.jpg .
Can you tall me why? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pratikkumarbehera (talk • contribs) 10:47, 19 August 2016 (UTC)
- @pratikkumarbehera. If you look closely at the original Flickr link for the image of Mirza, you can see on the bottom right "Some rights reserved" (and on closer observation, it is under a CC-BY 2.0 license, which is suitable for Wikipedia). The images you used were all copyrighted, and so are not allowed. You can see commons:Commons:Licensing for more detailed explanations. I understand this could get a bit complicated, but please feel free to ask any questions - I will be happy to help. MikeLynch (talk) 11:02, 19 August 2016 (UTC)
@MikeLynch Can you please show me a page of p.v. sindhu what i can use in Wikipedia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pratikkumarbehera (talk • contribs) 11:04, 19 August 2016 (UTC)
- @pratikkumarbehera, after performing a search at Flickr and at Wikimedia Commons, unfortunately I cannot find an image of Sindhu suitable for use on Wikipedia. Perhaps we will just have to wait. MikeLynch (talk) 11:09, 19 August 2016 (UTC)
@MikeLynch Can you please confirm me from below option which one will be accepted for wikipedia. I can not find (some rights reserved) option here. Can you please.

@MikeLynch Thank you so much. Its live now https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/P._V._Sindhu. Please check if there some error. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 165.225.104.81 (talk) 11:23, 19 August 2016 (UTC)
- @pratikkumarbehera; if you downloaded it from another website and uploaded it to Flickr, then you cannot upload that file to Wikimedia Commons. So if the administrators on Commons find that the image is not your own photo (i.e. you have not clicked it), then they might delete it. It won't happen immediately, and for now the image has been uploaded, but I'm just giving you a heads up in advance. MikeLynch (talk) 11:57, 19 August 2016 (UTC)
Thank you for your edits on P.V.Ramana. But keep watching, I can bet the ugly people will edit and change his birth history because most of the newspapers that they reference are in the hands of politicians and they carry lies about his birthplace as Nirmal. It is like saying Isaac Newton was born in China. Anyways thanks for your decent editing. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pvsaraswathi (talk • contribs) 21:36, 21 August 2016 (UTC)

P.V. Ramana
Sir, can you please rescue my page P.V.Ramana from falsifiers who are removing the authentic referenced information. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pvsaraswathi (talk • contribs) 02:03, 23 August 2016 (UTC)
- I have restored the page to the last stable version. Please note that edit summaries like in this that attack other users or use uncivil language are not allowed. Also, such comments within the article are not permitted. In addition, making legal threats are absolutely not allowed, as was mentioned in your talk page. Sir also please take the time to put this warning to the other user:Net Neutrality who started with threats. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pvsaraswathi (talk • contribs) 12:16, 23 August 2016 (UTC)
MikeLynch, I have to tell you something and also I am going to reference more authentic information for the article from events that happened few hours back. You removing the information from the article is just same as what the other users have been doing. I have referenced information and did not writeup something by my own. At least C.Fred did not remove the authentic information from the article. The reason that this article was being edited so much is because it was India's first olympic silver medal won by a family that belonged to Region1 which was divided from Region2 on the basis of political drama. The politicians of one region do not want Region1 to come to limelight, that is why various people have trolled and removed the information. If you have utilized the same amount of time that you spent deleting and writing comments here researching the subject you would have not removed the information from the article. Here is a latest video link v=2cjUWhfhUgw in which the family of P.V.Ramana is being felicitated in Region1 and the whole family is on the stage and the host is mentioning at min 1:05 on the video that her father belongs to Eluru in West Godavari and mother belongs to Vijayawada both in Region1. If you are not satisfied have a translator do the job for you.
How would Mike Tyson of US feel if he were to be told that he belonged to UK and so his laurels? That is how I feel. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pvsaraswathi (talk • contribs) 12:12, 23 August 2016 (UTC)
So my kind request is please do put that P.V.Ramana belonged to West Godavari and his wife belonged to Vijayawada. The article seems to be semi protected by you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pvsaraswathi (talk • contribs) 12:14, 23 August 2016 (UTC)
Munich
I noticed that you renamed all of the station names in Munich. Has there been a recent discussion that I missed while I was on an extended wikibreak that changed the convention of using original stationnames unless there is evidence of common English usage? Agathoclea (talk) 14:38, 26 August 2016 (UTC)
- Hi Agathoclea, welcome back then :) . To put it shortly, no there has not been. I will give a longer explanation at the WT:GER page. MikeLynch (talk) 16:04, 26 August 2016 (UTC)
How long to wait for edit reverts
Hey Mike, I made a recent change to a wiki page on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indian_Railways which was reverted by user LeoFrank with a note "wrong".
I have messaged the concerned user on his talk page with references as to why my change can be considered as right.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:LeoFrank#Caboose_vs_Brake_van_in_Indian_Railways
It has been 6 days since I added the note and yet to get a response. So I was wondering if there is a time limit till which I have to wait before I can revert back to my version.
Tried searching through the various helps and found nothing concrete. Lots of info on avoiding an edit war and I certainly want to avoid one. You provided my welcome message, hence "talking" to you.
Can you please let me know if there is a rule for reverting an edit revert in this scenario.
கிருஷ்ணா/Krishna (talk) 06:48, 31 August 2016 (UTC)
- Hi @Krishnarajv: well there is no fixed time to wait for reverting edits - you have left a note on the user's talkpage, a reasonable amount of time has passed, so I suggest you go ahead and revert to what you think is right, preferably with an edit summary that says something like: "Discussion welcome". Typically, an addition of a reference would be good, but since this seems to be solely a matter of British/American English, a reference isn't probably completely necessary. MikeLynch (talk) 07:05, 31 August 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks a lot Mike கிருஷ்ணா/Krishna (talk) 07:13, 31 August 2016 (UTC)
The article says Kamal Haasan used to be his assistant, with this YT link as a source. Can you please check and confirm the same? —Vensatry (talk) 11:40, 31 August 2016 (UTC)
- Hi @Vensatry:, yes it does say that (at about 3:11). However I see many problems with including this as a reliable source:
- First, whether this Youtube link is a WP:RS at all (WP:VIDEOREF) - it's not an official (Youtube) channel, although it is a screenshot from a TV channel.
- The situation/circumstances in which Kamal Haasan is making this speech needs to be noted - it's to a Kannada crowd, emphasising that although he's Tamilian, he has a close connection to the Kannada film industry - there is plenty of opportunity for exaggeration (although I'm not accusing anyone, I'm saying, just be a bit cautious)
- An accurate translation of what he exactly says is: "I worked as a co-director to Puttanna Kanagal in a Tamil film for some days". A better source for this would probably be the credits of whatever film he is referring to, to ascertain if he did officially work as a co-director.
- MikeLynch (talk) 12:05, 31 August 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks. The penultimate point was my exact concern! —Vensatry (talk) 14:52, 31 August 2016 (UTC)
