Why I created this ["experimental"] "sandbox7" page
editThe "edit comment" for [1] the oldest version of User:Mike Schwartz/subpage/sandbox7 explains where the original page (or rather, "section") of wikitext -- [which went IN to, that oldest version] -- came from: namely, it came from [2], that is:
from [ALL of] Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Legal#General considerations (the "General considerations" section of [a certain version (circa Nov. 4, 2016) of] "Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Legal").
When I first saw that wikitext material, -- at [2] -- (both in the displayed version, and when I clicked on "edit" to inspect the underlying wikitext "source" material), it seemed suspicious to me. I began to think that there might be something going on, there, which either
- was not 100% correct, in terms of, saying what it "should" say, and doing so in the "best" /slash "most appropriate" way
or else ... maybe
- was not 100% (correctly) understood (by me)
...or both.
When I clicked on the link (from [2]) which pointed to [3] Template:Lang, the page (that is, [3]) gave me some information -- including some examples -- that raised suspicions in my mind, that the wikitext at [2] might not be right (or, that maybe I did not understand it correctly).
Hence, I got the idea for the experimental page (User:Mike Schwartz/subpage/sandbox7).
I might want to keep that "subpage/sandbox7" page (including its "non-latest versions") around, in the future. It is possible that those versions -- (or maybe some of the DIFFs between them) -- might be useful, in order to say some things [carefully] that otherwise might be [more] difficult to state (rigorously) ... e.g., on a "Talk:" page somewhere, ... perhaps a "Talk:" page relating to [2] ... in which I might want to suggest / "discuss" some possible improvements to the wikitext of [2].

First experimental edit
editMy first experimental edit, (in terms of changing the wikitext in some ways that I thought might prove to be interesting), was:
The results may not have been what I was expecting. (Hence, the need for doing an experiment!). Actually, I am not sure what I was expecting. I am not sure where I will go (if at all / anywhere) from here. Fortunately, this whole experiment [so far], has been just a matter of [the use of] an experimental "subpage/sandbox7" page (in "user space"...) so... even if it was not [very] successful, and not much is ever done with it ... no harm / no foul.
