Help me!

Recently, another user deleted my addition (contribution) to an article (Rudyard Kipling). I do not know how to send him a message. Could you please help me or point me towards the relevant section of Wikipedia Help ? But, why isn't there a link placed conveniently INSIDE the message informing you that your input was deleted ?

Hi Mike abc. You can contact the user who removed your edit at his talkpage, User talk:RichardHarris22. I would hazard a guess that the removal was due to the formatting of the link - a correct interwiki link would look like this:

Kipling was offended by the German Emperor Wilhelm II's ''[[:de:Hunnenrede|Hunnenrede]]'' (Hun speech) in 1900

which would display as

Kipling was offended by the German Emperor Wilhelm II's Hunnenrede (Hun speech) in 1900

(check where the link goes!)

If you replace your link with the code above, I would expect it to be left alone; it is, after all, a pertinent link for the article. Thanks for adding it! Yunshui ^雲_水 13:14, 7 December 2016 (UTC)

PS. On second thought, should I add the nowiki tags also ?

No, the nowiki tags just serve to make the code display when you view this page. Leave those out, otherwise the raw markup will be visible in the article.

Incidentally, if you're just getting to grips with Wikimarkup (it can be pretty arcane sometimes) then the cheatsheet is a useful page to bookmark. Yunshui ^雲_水 11:50, 8 December 2016 (UTC)

Ok, I'll study your link. Thanks for all your help Yunshui. It seems this time my edit wasn't rejected ! I also felt (yesterday) that it is useful an edit to have made, even if it pointed to a page in a different language. Last not least, I wanted to show the change in attitude of Germany since R. Kipling's times - contemporary Germans are sometimes still blamed for what their grandfathers or grand-grandfathers did or were forced or deceived to do.
