Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Nick Grimshaw may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. I declined the speedy, I'm afraid - it's unquestionably cruft, but not actually an advertisement (it doesn't rise to the level of actually promotion, even!) Guy (Help!) 21:59, 21 March 2014 (UTC)

NBOOK

Well I've never needed to do this, so please tell me the best way to go about it. #4 and #5 are the easiest for WP:NBOOK. Really, bell hooks is famous enough that anything she writes satisfies #5 in my opinion. But I know that this book is used in sociology, gender studies, Black studies, and English classes across the US. How would you suggest I go about showing this? Find some syllabi? EvergreenFir (talk) 03:07, 26 March 2014 (UTC)

Really, the problem is that the article is completely unreferenced. There are no reviews, no references of discussions in other published works, and no demonstration of the effect the book had. If the book is important, these things should be easy to find. (They reflect #1 and #3 in WP:NBOOK.)
Use as courseware is good, but it's transient; a school might use it a few semesters, then change curricula and not use it anymore. That makes references to syllabi disappear or change after a while.
Demonstrating #5 is pretty difficult, though it can come with syllabi. Other books or papers might reference it, though, and that's pretty easy to tie down. Hope that all helps! -- Mikeblas (talk) 03:19, 26 March 2014 (UTC)
Thanks! I'm working on the syllabi now. I agree the article needs work, but I'd at least like to establish it's notability. I'll ping you on the talk page when I'm done. EvergreenFir (talk) 03:28, 26 March 2014 (UTC)
